Céline RO Posted October 20, 2020 at 06:03 PM Posted October 20, 2020 at 06:03 PM Can you imagine if they'd dub this movie in English (I hope they won't)?Finding someone to do Celine's accent when she speaks English wouldn't be that simple. It’s one of the most subtle yet unique accents I’ve ever heard. 2 Quote The best is yet to come...
Xpresso Posted October 20, 2020 at 07:11 PM Posted October 20, 2020 at 07:11 PM (edited) I would guess the subs. Subtitles are much better than dubbing. Now that's ! Edited October 20, 2020 at 07:11 PM by Xpresso 7 Quote
couldawouldashoulda Posted October 20, 2020 at 09:00 PM Posted October 20, 2020 at 09:00 PM What are you throwing up about? The trailer. To be clear, I don’t think the movie shouldn’t exist. I don’t think that other people shouldn’t line up to see if they want to and enjoy it. But that trailer makes me want to throw up. Quote
stone Posted October 20, 2020 at 10:57 PM Posted October 20, 2020 at 10:57 PM I think it's looks really cute and they did a really good job with the details! You guys really gotta stop being such negative Nancy's about EVERYTHING. It's insufferable 5 Quote

smw Posted October 21, 2020 at 12:17 AM Posted October 21, 2020 at 12:17 AM (edited) I can’t wait to see it! It looks well done. Good mix of humor and warmth. And it looks - overall - respectful to Celine. How amazing that Celine has such a huge movie made about her life when she is still quite young. There still isn’t a big movie like this about Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, etc. Just documentaries & some cheap TV movies. It’s very impressive. So glad it’s in French. I hate that it’s coming out during a pandemic but hopefully it will still get a ton of attention & views across the globe. Everyone be sure to like / support all the social media posts about this film. It plays into Celine Dion’s overall legacy & impact. We, as her biggest fans, should WANT it to succeed. scielle Posted October 21, 2020 at 12:27 AM Posted October 21, 2020 at 12:27 AM I'm just curious. Reserving judgement until I see it.It seems to be coming from a good place and from somebody who - on paper, at least - seems to know how to do it right. There are some things, on the surface of it, that rub me the wrong way about it, but the reviews I've seen thus far have been unanimously positive, so looking forward to seeing what it's all about. 2 Quote

You guys really gotta stop being such negative Nancy's about EVERYTHING. It's insufferable People are negative Nancy’s about different things. I LOVE the Courage album. I LOVE the Courage World Tour. Beat set list floor of any her previous tours. I LOVE Imperfections as the single that took from Courage. I LOVE the covers medley in the CWT. But this “actress” and “singer” portraying a Celine character who isn’t Celine but is clearly Celine in some weird slapstick comedy? No thank you. Quote
jpatdeleon09 Posted October 21, 2020 at 05:52 AM Posted October 21, 2020 at 05:52 AM Maybe it’s a bit early to judge the movie. Our fellow member here already watched the move (lucky!) and he/she loves it. It also got a praise from critics too! Judge it when you finally watched the film. Ok alright Quote

PuraVida Posted October 21, 2020 at 01:27 PM Posted October 21, 2020 at 01:27 PM So does anyone have the official reason why they named the movie Aline and not Celine? Was it legal reasons, I'm guesing? I really need to learn French. Quote
manu23 Posted October 21, 2020 at 01:43 PM Posted October 21, 2020 at 01:43 PM I don't think it is legal reasons, I believe they called Aline because this is not a real biopic. Everyone knows it is inspired by Celine own life but the director probably wanted to have artistic freedom to tell the story her way, allowing also more comedy than a proper biopic like The Queen or Judy. 1 Quote

CelinesDIVO5 Posted October 21, 2020 at 02:49 PM Posted October 21, 2020 at 02:49 PM 2 hours is a good length. The second half was a bit rushed but you have to admit that the Vegas years were quite repetitive so they didn't need to elaborate too much about that. Nonetheless, they could have developed more the illness of René, with Celine taking care of him at home I think. It's something they don't show at all in the movie and we know it lasted for months. As it is not an official bio-pic, I think it was only respectful that they only lightly touch on the latter subject. In order for the story of Rene’s illness and final days to be told, Celine should be heavily involved because she lived it and is the only one to be able to tell it with true accuracy. Xpresso Posted October 21, 2020 at 03:12 PM Posted October 21, 2020 at 03:12 PM By using different character names, Valerie said it gave her some wiggle room for creativity and not being stuck to the "official" story... and it allowed her to change some things for the big screen. I guess we will find out what she is referring to when we see it. Quote

In order for the story of Rene’s illness and final days to be told, Celine should be heavily involved because she lived it and is the only one to be able to tell it with true accuracy. Plus Valérie specifically said in some interview that she wanted to keep the illness and funeral scenes minimal because she didn’t want to put Celine through that again. Quote

ryba Posted October 21, 2020 at 07:47 PM Posted October 21, 2020 at 07:47 PM (edited) There are so many Celine movies out there already... I cannot say that I’m excited about that. I would prefer a real Celine Courage documentary or a concert with behind the scenes, studio footage, making of music videos, photo shoots etc. Simply stuff that we used to get when Rene was her manager. I want to see her „at work“ again and have a glimpse behind the scenes. The making of the SSSD and the 1f&4t albums is so unique! It’s really raw, and it showcases the real creation process, also the Miracle, Delles, TC sessions as well as most of the LTAL sessions (though Tell Him and Immortality were kind of fake), also for ANDHC only HYEBIL was real and raw, the rest was fake lip synch. And I’m totally in love with the making of the JNVOP and CN music videos! It’s so extended and detailed! That’s what I want as a fan. Edited October 21, 2020 at 07:53 PM by ryba 3 Quote
