What’s more worrisome is that let’s hope she’s not being isolated from music too, because Pepe’s thing clearly is fashion and NOT music, and in light of events Celine has been more in the news for her fashion appearances than for music since René passed away.

 

I believe Pepe is influencing her tastes for the better. We all love her schmaltzy classics, but she’s needed to branch out for some time now. Now that she’s surrounded by younger team (i.e. NOT people 30 years older than her), she’s hearing new music - literally and figuratively - and being exposed to new experiences.

 

When I saw pics of them at the Moulin Rouge, I nearly cried with joy! René would NEVER have approved of that. Yet here she is, embracing cancan dancers and drag queens...

There's a big portion of the public that think still today that Celine Dion has been retired from music since years ago (thanks to the isolation itself that her Vegas residencies itself provided too). That speaks volumes, and if we put both fashion and music on the scales, one thing has clearly had more weight on people's minds than the other. We only have to ask someone on our entourage when we say "I'm a big Celine Dion fan" and they immediately say "oh, she's been on TV/magazines quite a lot recently because she's much into fashion, isn't she?" or "I thought she was retired from music?" Everyone here knows a similar situation happening to us

 

Look at every other celebrity - singers, authors, painters, actors. Each and every one of them has peaks in their careers and low points where the inspiration just isn’t there. No mortal person can sustain a career high for 30+ years, yet Céline (who is, on the whole, out of the general public eye) has been able to keep selling out shows for decades. That is almost unheard of.

 

So if her focus the past 2 years has been on nailing sickening runway looks and recording a new album in English, why would anyone doubt that the album won’t be just as enthralling as her clothes?? News flash: IT WILL BE. There will be songs some fans don’t care for, and others that they can’t stop replaying over and over... just like her outrageous costumes.

I dont care what people think about what im going to say or what people think about Pepe but im gonna say it:

 

When shes with Pepe, she has this look in her eye, this spark, like she radiates happiness. The last time i saw that was in her and Renes hayday, and that makes me so happy. Not that shes found a new man or a replacement.. but that shes found happiness again, not romantically, but happiness as a person with someone else, a best friend.

Be happy that Celine has had a successful (nearly) 40 year career and that she doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon. She may not be churning out music like in the 90's or a streaming force but her albums always sell very well, she always sells out her concerts, and the public still massively adores her (BTS crowd is the most current proof of that).

And you've said it yourself, her slowdown hasn't been because of her interest in fashion it's been many things. Still, among all she's been through in the past few years, she put out 2 albums, has done 3 mini tours, and is preparing a 3rd album and world tour in 6 years. Fashion wise she's had a hand bag collection and a children's clothing line (both of which she doesn't run herself or even design), and then the 10 days a year she enjoys dressing up.

 

Even if she were dedicating more time to fashion than music it's her prerogative. If some of you feel that she is neglecting her music career than go ahead and be sad but no one has the right to demand that she focus on singing and only singing. She already dedicated herself solely to that for 30 years.

 

Also, you said, "what people and her public will always expect from her now and until the end is music" but then in the same post say that there are people that remember/think of her for her fashion moments and not music. So, there's clearly public and media interest in her aside from her music, maybe her public isn't as one note as you and some others on this forum think.

 

Regardless, the point that was being argued is that Pepe isn't to blame for her interest in fashion. Remember that her turnaround in fashion began when she sought out Law, she doesn't need Pepe or anyone to love fashion.

 

Rene was her husband; don’t compare him to Pepe! When Celine will fall in love again, Pepe will cease to be part of her life and that will be a nice thing. For my part, I have never like Pepe. He is not a low profile guy and he is too young.

 

So you have no problem with a hypothetical future boyfriend being compared to Rene but with Pepe it's blasphemy. Oh, and it's fine for Rene to fall in love and marry a woman 26 years younger than him but Celine can't be friends with someone 16 years younger than her?

I think it's great that they/she responded to this, but I probably wouldn't have done it this way.

 

When I read the comments, it's mostly people that hadn't even heard the rumour, people who think the 'drama' needs to stop and people who think it's 'fishy' (the opposite of what they were trying to achieve). It's just giving people a forum to bash Pepe.

 

Social media is a great tool, but it's not for everything. She really needs a decent social media team tbh...

Exactly. It's as if she'd made a public statement denying anorexia or eating disorders because public and media has been saying 24/7 all her life that she is too thin and she looks unhealthy (and the story keeps beating hard these days). Has she ever needed to make a public statement to refute this? No. Never ever gave a damn. Why now with such low gossip?

 

If only, she could address this on her next interview -like when she confirmed Pepe is gay, and period. Move on and give it the importance it has = bullshit.

 

I understand she'd like to put an end to those rumours with this statement but I'm afraid it will only serve the contrary: this move will only add fuel to the press to continue ellaborating their story.
