I don't like it.

i prefer the Dan Stevens version, a lot more emotion to it. With Josh , it seems forced.

Well yeah I think EVERMORE is a better song.

And considering all versions, it has more views than HDAMLF

Posted

And of course they're pushing EVERMORE.

Dan's version is charting in the UK and USA, unlike Josh's or Céline's song.

Evermore

iTunes:

#70 Singapore

#115 United Kingdom

#140 Indonesia

#148 Taiwan

#151 Australia

#185 Hong Kong

#188 United States

Celine's song is charting higher though:

#23 Indonesia

#28 Malaysia

#37 Singapore

#44 Taiwan

#94 Hong Kong

#106 Indonesia

#184 Hong Kong

I think they're just trying to showcase that the whole album is well-rounded with good songs besides having A-list singers doing a couple of main tracks. Also I think people connect with the voices of the characters aka Dan Stevens and Emma Watson for Evermore and Belle

It already charted in the US and UK iTunes last week and 2 weeks ago. It just dropped out this week. Evermore, meanwhile, I believe is on its first week of appearing in the iTunes chart. In fact, HDAMLF even charted higher in the US than Evermore did. And it charted in more than 20 countries at the time, unlike Evermore's 7 countries. And also, Evermore is not charting in Spotify.

You even posted HDAMLF iTunes chart movement from a few weeks ago:

How Does a Moment Last Forever

iTunes:

#8 Philippines

#8 Singapore

#11 Indonesia

#15 Taiwan

#18 Indonesia

#23 Czech Republic

#26 Hong Kong

#33 Hong Kong

#76 Ireland

#101 Taiwan

#120 Singapore

#129 United Kingdom

lol @ "they're pushing Evermore".

Some here just take out data to bring down others.

First, all songs sung by the cast have charted higher than Celine's and Josh's. Evermore is not an exception.

Then, Céline is representating the movie @ the parade celebrating the 25th anniversary of Disneyland Paris...

"Evermore" was released before Celine's... so I guess it's normal it has more views.

Céline is the first in the credits but the song itself might be a theme throughout the movie, it doesn't represent a strong scene like Dan's evermore.

Still Josh only charts in one country on ITunes and "Evermore" is nowhere on Spotify.

And sorry to say but Indonesia has a population of 240 millions people... a itunes top23 over there might represent more copies sold than a ITunes US #188...

Well maybe you are right.. I don't know.

A music video and a live performance could do wonders.

That Josh Groban's song gets a new video to promote his song and not Céline's is absurd. Just absurd. It's the last example of Sony Music's absurdity to stupefy and marginalise Céline's music, always coming the last on their list. As always, it's been like this since more than a decade ago.

Sony does not own the rights to this song. Disney does.

Haha are you kidding? Celine is a Sony Music artist and she's under that label. Every collaboration or music that Celine records must be under the approval and count with Sony Music's authorisation. Hence Sony Music has the right indeed to negotiate what kind of promotion the song would include and to what extent, then Disney records may have their say and their rights too, but it's not the only owner of the rights :)

Of course Sony has to agree for Céline to appear on the Disney soundtrack.

But Sony is not the label who will decide if a videoclip will be done for this song - and Sony won't pay for it either.

Thank you, Xpresso.

Disney pays Sony for Celine's service. Ultimately, Alan Menken wrote the song as an employee of Disney. So he and Disney Studios own the rights of the song. They pay for the recording and promotion of the song. If the song were to appear on Celine's album, on Sony, there would be another deal struck for the song to appear on the track list. It's not up to Sony to make a video for a song that they neither own, nor has appeared on a Celine Dion release. It may be different if it appears on the album. There would be more of an option for Sony to make a video if that were the case. This song, at the moment is not making Sony any money through sales or streaming, therefore there is no vested interest.

It's not that absurd. I mean... maybe he got rewarded because he was the only one who promote his song.

Or maybe because he was the only one who really needs it as his song/version hasn't performed that well...

Like I said, Celine has a contract and is under a label which is Sony Music, and Sony Music would have had his part of the cake on this too, since they have to authorise Céline's participation on a soundtrack that is released by another record label (Walt Disney Records) and one whom Céline is not signed under.

Shooting and releasing a music video would have only meant more permissions from Sony Music as they are "lending" an artist of their company to that form of use too, so again, that's more rights that Sony has to agree with (not only for Céline's name appearing under another record label, but also for her image appearing on a music video). May I remind that Céline is signed exclusively under Sony Music. That means she cannot participate in any other project under any other record label without their consent.

Sony wouldn't decide if a possible video had to be done, but they would definitely have a BIG say for it. So if Sony Music, as Celine's record label, would have had a minimum interest in this project and having Céline with the chance to collect another successful song for a movie, they would have negotiated and pushed for the promotion of this song, including a music video that could easily have happened. It's in the benefit of both sides. Any other smart record label would have automatically agreed for a video to be released, being the main theme of the movie and the closing credits song. But not with Sony and Céline...

On the other side, it became clear Sony Music is no longuer interested in doing music videos for Celine. If Sony -as Céline's own record label- has no interest, l highly doubt a movie record label is going to push more for it to happen. They're probably more than happy to have Celine's voice on the soundtrack.

Thing is that we are discussing a pretty silly thing from the start, since movie themes and music videos, particularly in Disney movies, always go hand in hand, so a main movie song like this would normally have a videoclip as a natural consequence. Well, not with Céline Dion, whose promotional ways usually work backwards lately and in mysterious ways

To make it short, neither Disney nor Sony Music have any interest in capitalising on this project, when it would have meant just more money for them too.

Since I've seen Josh Groban singing on Tv I thought, they're going to use this song on Oscar, indicate it, I do not know why not use Celine's music, she's very good or maybe they think Evermore is stronger.

Just got out from cinema

It is the best remake by Disney by far

The songs are better than the animated version

People stay during Celine songs 😍😍😍

All this novel for what?

Who on earth (with a minimum of common sense) would think that Sony would push for something to happen for a song not under its label when they already don't do anything for their own songs?

And we should all stop blaming Sony...now Disney records... for unexisting MV (or at least not only them).

Everybody in 2017 can do a music video, amateurish or not.

Céline is not more interested than Sony or any record label.

I think the movie got a slow plot at the beginning and the musical singing is too long that i almost get asleep. But it is only interesting to watch at the end of the movie but still can be expected. But It slows me down when I sit to listen to HDAMLF. And there was about 3 lines of people that waited until this song ends.
