meanttofly Posted March 21, 2017 at 05:39 PM Posted March 21, 2017 at 05:39 PM Yea, what the heck was she so emotional about? I'm guessing it has something to do with Angela Lansbury and certainly more than what she's letting on. According to Peabo it sounds like they wanted him and Celine to sing at the Oscars but were putting up with Angela being a real diva about it [lmaooo I can't believe he called her a freakin teapot :DDD]. I'm guessing she was probably being extremely passive aggressive towards Celine on the day of the Oscars [she called her the 'Canadian lady' in the interview lmao]. I'd never seen that Oscars performance before but did you see how she literally walked on stage at the end completely blocking the dancers? Man that woman is full of herself but Celine went out there and was the class act she always is.Please, where is that interview?! Quote

celine4evauk Posted March 22, 2017 at 05:41 PM Posted March 22, 2017 at 05:41 PM Was it because celine couldn't have her parents there in the audience? I thought she wasn't allowed 2 extra tickets for them. Or maybe I'm muddling things up lol Quote

angelil78 Posted March 22, 2017 at 06:50 PM Posted March 22, 2017 at 06:50 PM I don't think she would have been crying all day because of Angela. I think it must have been something else. But we will never know I'm dying of curiosity though Quote

I remembered celine saying she was so surprised her parents went on a plane etc when their English isn't good etc. But really couldn't remember which year lol Maybe she was upset that she and peabo weren't singing the whole song?Doubt we'll ever know the whole story. Xpresso Posted March 22, 2017 at 11:36 PM Posted March 22, 2017 at 11:36 PM I'm not sure but I thought (from Peabo's story) that Céline cried the day they were on The Tonight Show, not the day of the Oscars...Maybe I got it wrong... Anyway, Angela is not a very good singer - A teapot singing in a movie is one thing, but singing on Oscar night should be left to the professionals...What a tea-rrible lady! 4 Quote
mike_z Posted March 23, 2017 at 12:03 AM Posted March 23, 2017 at 12:03 AM I think the song received over 300k views today on YouTube which is really good! At this rate it will easily reach 10M before May! 2 Quote

Yes, that's what i thought Peabo was saying, too. Also, I'm pretty sure that it was the Oscar producers who wanted Angela over Celine & Peabo - not Angela herself who didn't want them there. Because Angela's version was *in the movie* and was the only one technically eligible to be in the telecast. And Rene fought for Celine to be able to sing. I'm pretty sure the story is in the '97 Germain biography, but I don't have it with me and can't check. Quote
GameC Posted March 23, 2017 at 01:02 AM Posted March 23, 2017 at 01:02 AM Today I watched BATB 2017 movie again. This time it was a dubbed version. I wanted to see how it sounded in my native language (Polish). Among viewers were many parents with kids aged 5-7 years. Below a screen was a small scene, and at the end credits (HDAMLF) a few children came on this scene using small stairs and began to dance, afterwards a few more kids joined. And the children danced until Céline finished singing. Even parents were surprised, it was quite a unique behavior and it looked so cute 6 Quote

rhapsodion Posted March 23, 2017 at 05:59 AM Posted March 23, 2017 at 05:59 AM Also, I'm pretty sure that it was the Oscar producers who wanted Angela over Celine & Peabo - not Angela herself who didn't want them there. Celine's MHWGO was not in the entire Titanic movie until the credit roller, still Celine was able to perform the song at the Oscar. So I don't think the song has to appear in the middle of the movie in order to be eligible for nomination or be performed at the Oscar. I also doubt Rene had that much say back then over the Oscar producers. 1 Quote
Critiaslux Posted March 23, 2017 at 06:23 AM Posted March 23, 2017 at 06:23 AM (edited) I think the song received over 300k views today on YouTube which is really good! At this rate it will easily reach 10M before May! Indeed it jumped over the last 2 days after having slowed down last week. Views are at 2.850.000 now. Comparitively Josh's Evermore is almost at 2 million, meaning that the gap is increasing day by day.She is the biggest non video from the soundtrack (i.e. after Grande and Legend's video of course). Funny it is happening now and not during the weekend Is it The Voice effect, reminding people how a great singer Céline is and make them wanting to hear her again? As per Oscar rules, songs within the film and the first song during the credits are eligible as nominees. So both versions of BATB are "technically eligible," as you term it, to be in the telecast. browseceline Posted March 23, 2017 at 09:08 AM Posted March 23, 2017 at 09:08 AM a shame all those 500plus dislikes on the video. One guy just responded on YouTube that: I can't understand why she uses all of that autotune, I recognized her for that reason when I was on the cinema at the end of the movie, I supose she lost her voice or something or maybe she's afraid of not sound like she used to, but it's normal, voice changes with the years but use autotune makes the song sound horrible please tell me I am deaf.. because i don't hear any autotune and i want to convince him he is sooo wrong.I think autotune will be used in every recording but here.. if it has been used.. it is soooo subtle. I can't understand his reaction.. 2 Quote <iframe width="640" height="390" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hl2XkxnYljg" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I can't understand his reaction.. As for me, it seems that whoever wrote this can be young (then recognizes Céline because his/her parents listened to her) or older (he/she listened to her as was younger), and then he/she did not follow her and currently thinks about her as a "singer from the last century/millennium", who should already be retired. Now he/she heard Céline in the cinema and recognized her voice, what in his/her opinion, after so many years, could not be possible, so he/she quickly found an explanation: "It must be an autotune". 1 Quote
