A good read from Billboard. We learn new and interesting details about HDAMLF. And finally offers an answer to what I have been wondering about ever since seeing the album on Spotify... why the new songs are on top:

Leib took a cut of the movie to Las Vegas to show to Dion. “We had this great philosophical conversation until 2:00 in the morning,” he says. “Celine has such a tie to the original, she was working out in her head right then and there, as to if she should do it or leave well enough alone.” Working with producer Humberto Gatica, Dion performed the song to an already existing music track, featuring a 100-piece orchestra that Menken had cut when the rest of the score was recorded.

In a first, Disney switched up the streaming order for the album on Spotify, front-loading the new tracks from Grande/Legend, Dion and Groban at the top of the playlist. Their tracks come at the end of the physical and downloaded versions. “We wanted to make sure people realized they were there,” Bunt says. “Streaming is a different behavior. It’s a little bit of an experiment.”

I've decided Céline Dion's closing-credits song ("How Does a Moment Last Forever") is officially part of this ranking. This Menken-Rice tune is a true Disney classic-in-the-making, thanks in part to Dion's chilling delivery. I've listened to this song at least a dozen times, and I still tear up when she sings, "Maybe some moments weren't so perfect / Maybe some memories not so sweet." Just give it the Oscar already!

Exactly, just because she's not on TV, it doesn't mean that she's sitting on her eggs. Probably she's rehearsing for the summer tour.

I don't know if it's mentioned before, but How Does a Moment Last Forever debuted at #125 in the French Singles Chart.

And that's not a big deal if she was sitting on her couch all day long till Vegas resumes.

 

She has been working so hard till Rene 's death, she deserves it.

 

And she really needs to rest her voice.

Yes, not anything new. She's singing MHWGO.

And that she thinks Nelson will become a singer, that's interesting.

 

Well, all 6-year-olds sing. Rather well, usually. It's just socialized out of us out of us with age.

 

But there's no denying Celine's entire family can certainly carry a tune and of course Rene was a singer himself, so wouldn't be surprising if he inherited some real talent. That being said, it's got to be incredibly intimidating for kids of famous, hugely accomplished artists to follow in their parents footsteps... they'll always end up being compared (Sean Lennon? Adam Cohen? Jacob Dylan?)

 

I'm rather enjoying the spacesuit outfit.

Did your kids see the movie yet?

Not yet … but I can’t wait to see it again with them.

 

I wonder - does she get a personal screener version or can she can actually take the kids to the movies without being accosted? She goes to RC's games all the time and it seems she often goes largely unnoticed, so I hope she can actually take the boys to the cinema and be left alone to just be with her kids. No matter how fancy your home entertainment system, it's just not the same as experiencing a film in an actual theater.

It's actually losing a lot of momentum... now at about 100k views a day, which is about the same rate Encore Un Soir was at ~6 months post release!

I suppose it's just not the sort of thing people would have on repeat; suspect that's the reason.

YouTube IS a steaming platform. In fact, by far the most used music streaming platform in the world. That's where most people consume music. And streaming on YT is exactly what you should be doing if you're trying to contribute to chart positions etc.

When I saw the film yesterday this really is the perfect ending!

 

We had a group of school girls (probably 13/14)bunking off school and at the end as the song was playing they were dancing to Celine! They pretended to ball room dance! Was perfect as everyone was watching them and seemed to enjoy the song!

I just saw the film and it was very good. I loved the extended intro for HDAMLF, it sounds pretty.

Just got back from the movie, saw it in 3D.

Great movie.

Obviously, i remained seated at the end ...the sound was different, i felt like Celines voice was tamed, the music was louder than the voice compared to the soundtrack. Anyhow, I liked it.
