One obstacle was, there was no suitable theater for such a run. That changed when Caesars Palace dove into a major project, the Colosseum, for Dion’s “A New Day …” show in 2003. Dion’s critical and box office success helped initiate the superstar residency production shows that dominate the Las Vegas entertainment scene today. A few that followed the Dion model, in no particular order: Elton John Sir Elton often referred to the Colosseum as “The house that Celine built.” He performed 450 shows in 14 years during his “Red Piano” and “Million Dollar Piano” productions, which ended in May. Cher Though she was not a big fan of playing the Colosseum (she found it a bit too stodgy for her freewheeling stage show), Cher did play Caesars for 2 1/2 years ending in February 2011. She has remained a headlining force The Park Theater. Britney Spears Spears’ team reviewed Dion’s shows at the Colosseum before being convinced Britney could make a similar run at the then-Axis theater. Spears’ arrival forged a renovation of that room, bringing it closer to the Colosseum’s 4,298 capacity (down from 7,000), and Spears performed a successful run from December 2013 to last New Year’s Eve. We are expecting an announcement, any time now, of Spears’ residency at The Park Theater for 2019. Bette Midler Her run crashed into the recession of 2009, but her production certainly complemented Dion’s earlier “A New Day …” shows at the Colosseum. Rod Stewart Following the Elton legacy-rock-star pattern, Stewart opened what was originally a two-year residency at the Colosseum in August 2011 and remains a theater stalwart. Shania Twain Her uniquely produced “Still the One” show, which featured a horse onstage, opened on Dec. 1, 2012, and ended Dec. 13, 2014, at the Colosseum. AEG Live officials tapped into her Canadian fan base by using the database built from Dion’s French-Canadian loyalists. Gwen Stefani The Zappos Theater headliner gained fame with No Doubt in the mid-1990s and performed songs from multiple decades up through her current solo career. Mariah Carey The songstress who has recorded 17 No. 1 hits has headlined twice at the Colosseum, with “No. 1 to Infinity” from 2015-17 and to “The Butterfly Returns,” resuming in February. Bruno Mars If you consider that The Park Theater was designed to tap into the success of Dion’s long run north of the Strip, Mars — who clearly relishes the more intimate confines of that venue — has to be in the conversation. Lady Gaga See above. By the time Gaga headlined T-Mobile Arena in August 2017, the resident headlining trend had created a glut of stars on the Strip. Before her show, Gaga tweeted to Cher and Spears: “I WOULD COME TO YOUR SHOWS BUT I’M PLAYING ACROSS THE STREET @ sametime WHY IS THIS HAPPENING @cher @britneyspears #Vegas #JoanneWorldTour.” Celine was off that night, but somewhere, you had to believe, she was smiling. Tyler1991 Posted October 1, 2018 at 06:47 PM Posted October 1, 2018 at 06:47 PM Ill be honest, i would love to go to Vegas sometime next year, but in this instance I think celine would be number 4 on my reason to go there. Im not a huge fan fan of this show. Ive just moved and obviously thats a process, so my money has been tighter. Ive been happy to be there for some major moments, both premieres and the first show without rene. If i manage a vegas vacation this next year, i am most interested in lady Gaga's new show, aerosmith also has a new residency starting..And i am hoping queen + adam lambert add some more dates. I would love to see all those first to be honest. As for celine, i love to touring celine so much more. I suppose my first five concerts i attended were all vegas shows, and the last five have all been touring shows. I think the last five were the best so i am saving up for hopefully a us tour for celine and ill go everywhere near indiana!!! That'll be dangerous for the pocketbook lol 4 Quote

That'll be dangerous for the pocketbook lol I am not a huge fan of the current Vegas show. I loved A New Day very very very much. But still my love for Céline brought me to Vegas to celebrate her birthday with her. I wanted to experience the pit but that's never going to happen. I can't under no circumstances attend the last show for a few reasons.1: personal reason (nothing to do with Céline), 2: my last Vegas trip cost way too much wasted money3: ticket prices for the final show, no way I'm gonna sit somewhere in the Mezzanine for that price! It would make me sick to my stomach.4: I'd rather save my money for a good concert ticket in the future. I could go buy 4 VIP to 4 concerts in Paris for 1 ticket in the front rows in Vegas for the final night. 5: I don't miss being at the final show for A New Day, so I doubt I'll miss it for this time either. 1 Quote
SuperLove4Celine Posted October 1, 2018 at 07:46 PM Posted October 1, 2018 at 07:46 PM Unless I win the lottery, or get a much higher paying job, I have little to no interest in attending Closing Night. The amount being charged is absolutely disgusting. Especially for what little of a show you get. I put myself into debt during the “A New Day...” years, and still feel very satisfied with my choices doing so after having paid everything off years ago. There is no way I’d do the same for the basic, run of the mill show “Celine” is in its current form. Especially with its lackluster, uninspired, and far from unique setlist. 2 Quote

Usually I'm like ugh lucky people attending the show/concert and wishing I'd be so lucky but nope not for a second this time. I'm disgusted by the price of the final show. That’s what people remembered when Céline is doing a tour/residency show. The big prods, lightings, visuals, dancers, effects, etc Since A New Day besides her Amazing Voice. So, that’s why they should be consistent on that part. I already said that before. If she wants an intimate show she can just use a smaller venue since some wants an intimate show (so used a smaller venue that fits that category) When they hear céline - they’ll think it will be an amazing show with amazing visuals or in short amazing/big prods Edited October 2, 2018 at 05:59 AM by jpatdeleon09 Quote

Agree, at least from what I've heard when she had concert here in Indonesia, they praised about how simple the show and Celine herself yet the show still amazing, the voice and her presence is truly a star without gimmick. But then again, I don't mind with spectacular stages. I love every kind of her show as long as she delivered great singing. 2 Quote
