Celine (Las Vegas show) [ends: June 8th, 2019] - Official topic

I wonder how the idea for the James Bond medley came about. Is that something that has been mentioned or talked about? Was Rene or Celine a fan of those movies?

I love that medley.

Is there any good HQ videos of it? I can only find one video of the full medley but the quality isn't great.

The James Bond Medley was the only number that remained from the original concept for the show: Tribute to Hollywood movies.

We have this official footage of Céline performing Goldfinger at the 2011 premiere:

Can you post the full interview? I can't access it

Deep into a late-night phone conversation, Celine Dion seems suddenly struck by a revelation.

She has nothing to prove.

“I guess that’s really it; I feel like I don’t have to prove myself. I don’t have to prove anything,” Dion says. “When you don’t have to prove anything, it gives you a lot of space.”

Dion has just ended a lengthy session at the Studio at the Palms, where she’s recording her next studio album, set to be released next year.

But this chat starts with Dion’s decision last week, equal measure inevitable and surprising, to announce the end of her residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

Dion’s final show is June 8. She opened “A New Day …” in March 2003. The Colosseum, known as “The House that CelineBuilt,” as Elton Johnregularly referred to the venue, has become a dominant venue on the Strip.

Dion has effectively built the model for superstars to open similarly scaled theater residencies in Las Vegas, as the Colosseum has been host to superstars such as Sir Elton, Cher, Bette Midler, Rod Stewart, Shania Twain, The Who and Reba, Brooks & Dunn. The venue is a performance destination and an annual industry leader for box-office profits. Dion started all of that.

By the time she steps off the stage in June, she will have grossed more than $700 million in ticket sales in her two resident productions, “A New Day …” from 2003-2007, and “Celine,” which opened in March 2011. By the time she reaches closing night, she will have performed more than 1,100 shows in two residencies.

Moreover, Dion lives in Las Vegas with her family, including 17-year-old Rene-Charles and 7-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy. Her dedication to philanthropy during her time in the valley has been extraordinary. Characteristic of her generosity was a $500,000 donation from her first performance after the Oct. 1 shooting.

Dion has given one interview — this one — since announcing Monday morning that she would end her run at the Colosseum. Highlights from that conversation:

She’s not interested in specifying why she made this decision now: “The little that I know, and it’s enough for me to know, is that I know I have a contract roughly until June,” Dion says of her current contract with AEG Live, which does expire in June. “Exactly when, I don’t know. I don’t like endings, so I looked at it more as turning a page in a chapter of my career. For me, I’m just not there yet.”

That’s because she has about 50 shows to perform this year and next: “I’m the kind of person that really lives day to day,” Dion says. “I don’t even really want to think about the ending right now, to be honest with you, because people that are around me in my life are kind of freaking out a little bit, and I’ve got shows to do. I’m a mother, and I have kids to take care of.”

She downplays her effect on the rise in superstar residencies in Las Vegas:“I don’t want to sound pretentious. I didn’t start anything,” she says. “The entertainment business in Las Vegas started way before me. I didn’t start anything. The music industry had people like Frank Sinatra, Elvis and names way bigger than me, and it all started way before me. But we had a plan, we believed in it, and then we stayed here.”

She feels great physically, at age 50, and remains eager to take the stage:“You can’t just get older and think of gravity, because you would be miserable. Can you imagine just thinking about getting older?” Dion says with a laugh. “I am getting older, and I like to call it older because as I am moving forward through my life, but I feel younger and I don’t know why. I still enjoy singing all of my songs, seeing people as if it is the first time I have sung them, and feeling their energy come back to me.”

Rene Angelil, her late manager and husband, is the reason she is not wary of gambling: “My husband was a gambler, and that was all positive for me because, as a gambler, he took a lot of chances because he was a gambler,” she says. “Rene believed in this very strongly, and so did Franco (Dragone, creator of “A New Day …”), and all the people involved who put money into it. I was dreaming. That’s my job, to dream and take care of my kids and try to sing as good as I can.”

This is not an end: “Every night I’m looking into the balcony, and I realize people are still coming and after how many years?” she says. “So, it drives you and that’s why I don’t like to talk about ending. I don’t want to have a bittersweet conversation (laughs)! It’s been 15 years! I have raised my children here! I’m a Las Vegan! Right now, that is me.”

LOL :D

Seriously, Celine, the singer that is admired by millions of people, should take into consideration, that her fans are curious about what's next for her and are just interested because they love her. Giving an interview like this just proves that she did it because she had to and not because she wanted to. That's sad. Performing for people is one thing, but remember that the fans that love you are also curiouis about you and your career and want you to be part of their life. Remember that, Celine.

I really hope she keeps that curly hair from the studio pic... also.

Questions that are circling in my head (id lowkey love if you guys responded with your own responses)

1) Do you think Celine will keep her old Vegas set list? Or do you think she will keep the tour set list after she saw the fans reaction in June ?

2) If she keeps the old vegas set list, Do you expect any additions / changes

3) Do you expect any costume changes ? (I want a new opening dress)

4) Do you think she will have a new single in the Vegas show ?

5) Do you even want a DVD of this show ?

I hope this turns out the way i intended it...

She's a master at the art of saying nothing.

“I don’t even really want to think about the ending right now, to be honest with you, because people that are around me in my life are kind of freaking out a little bit,..."

Celine, tell us why they are feeling this way. To me, it says that this decision was completely out of left field, nobody saw it coming. (ie. band members ect.ect.)

And the part of her contract contents, “The little that I know, and it’s enough for me to know, is that I know I have a contract roughly until June,....” I call b.s.!!

One positive out of the interview is her saying she's not there yet, meaning she's not ready to hang it up! "I don’t like endings, so I looked at it more as turning a page in a chapter of my career. For me, I’m just not there yet.” :)

Most of her answers are usually exaggerated ("people are freaking out but idc." Hmm I don't buy it) or total bs in order to not give an answer. Why? Only she knows.

She doesn't know when her contract ends but she was the one that released the statement about ending her residency and the one being talked to about any extensions. She doesn't plan for the future? Then how exactly is she working on a new album that will be released in the future? You mean to tell me, Celine, that you just stay at home and wait for someone to say you will be doing ____ tomorrow or next month? Bulldroppings.

Perhaps in this case she refrained from giving anything away because she doesn't want to talk about possible things and then they don't happen.

In any case isn't this guy that said he interviewed her for 30 min and this is the best he got out of her? Either she is one tough cookie to crack or he's a bad interviewer. Or both.

1. Old setlist, but I wouldn't mind a surprise.

2.I hope she keeps TLYM.

3. Probably only for the funk medley.

4. no

5. Yes.

1-2, 4) I think she'll keep the old Vegas setlist and maybe add a new song (if it's released before Oct. 30)

3) I think all the dresses will be the same.

5) It would be nice to have a DVD, but I highly doubt they'll release one.

Well i guess i should give my opinions

1) I think she will cut something from the show and add a tour segment,

2) I think she will cut the old medley, and add the new one or add TLYM

3) Well i think she will go back to the short beige ish mirror dress as the LV Knights are out of the cup and out of season etc. Shes been changing a dress or two after every summer tour.

4) I agree with this, if its released. She will add it i just hope she wont drop Ashes anytime soon

5) Its highly likely they will, Caesars will want one because without her they lose at least 50% of their revenue, so they can still milk the Celine brand. On top of that, i think its the main reason she hasnt released a tour DVD, the exception being USF only because it was mainly french.

Each to their own. But at this stage, its highly unlikely. Not to mention that i hate to say it, but DVDs arent a thing anymore. Even a netflix thing no one really wants a concert thing. Id rather a more 5 foot 2 gaga style documentary or a Barbra style semi backstage semi concert thing. I mean.... why want a DVD when we have extremely high quality videos, for free on YouTube when ever we want them that arent edited to the sun and back

are you kidding me? Why a DVD when we have extremely high quality videos on youtube?? Because that's amateur videos! I still want a professionally recorded DVD with 5.1 surround sound of the full concert with backstage footage that I can enjoy in my living room.

I just don't understand people's mentality who say "why produce DVDs?". Come on! They have been produced since decades! Especially concerts should still be professionally recorded and released as memories for people who attened the concert and want to re-live the experience again, or just chill and calm down by watching a concert of your favourite artist in best video and sound quality.

1) I think she will keep the Vegas setlist. It's the Vegas show after all; wouldn't make much sense to transform it in the Summer Tour...

2) Maybe the lead single from the upcoming English album. If a second single is released before June 8th, she might also add it to the show.

3) Not any major change. Maybe she keeps the green dress from the Summer Tour for the uptempo medley (Prince songs, LCMM & RDMH)

4) Yes, but maybe not just yet.

5) Absolutely yes. A DVD is highly needed. In a perfect world, it would be a double DVD featuring both versions of the show (2011-2014 & 2015-2019) with a bonus documentary about the evolution of the show and bits of conversation with Celine about how her life has changed since the debut of the show on March 15h, 2011. God, how I miss Julie Snyder...

Some of those “amateur videos” are better 4k quality than the Tokyo concert which like most of her videos has been blurred to hide her facial imperfections (i mean come on look at ashes and RDMH at NYE). Not to mention the sound that comes of those amateur videos is raw, pure and has far more bass and ringing than any concert DVD.

And id hardly call AND,TCWT:TC and Live In Tokyo the best sound or video quality. AND arguably has the best sound and picture and its older than the other two. TCWT has been edited to death and the picture is hardly anything to marvel at. The Tokyo DVD whilst being quite raw, has a very flat sound and the picture is hardly 4k.

Sorry but id rather a truly 4k, powerful, RAW, unedited video than anything else.

Plus, the DVD of 2017 is literally the worst set list choice, they waited until they cut TR,TCOML,THLAL,Misled,LMBTL i mean come on. The DVD you so desperately crave is a far lesser version of the concert that you did see, with way worse costume and a chorded mic...

As for 2016, was that ever confirmed as being filmed in its entirety ? I only remember snippets that were recorded by TV stations for TV use.

Not to mention that a movie now, the DVD release isnt even second thought, its about 4th lol  its all about the internet

Tbh i dont really care about any other legs i just want March 15th 2011 and August 27th 2015 but the raw, live streamed video that was sent to the house computer so that when Rene watched at home, he could give Celine pointers after the concert.

THOSE TWO SET LISTS WERE PERFECTTTTTTT.

DVD/Blu-rays are great for collectors. It's why movies are released in steelbook cases or with special art, also the more special features included the more attractive they are to people.

I like buying blu-rays because I only have Netflix and Netflix doesn't stream everything ever made. Also, not everyone has Netflix or Hulu, or Amazon prime, etc. Releasing a DVD makes the product available for everyone.

If they are willing to release vinyls (which people also thought would not be a "thing" anymore) of songs/albums which not everyone buys they should release DVD's which are a mainsteam medium still.

There are lots and lots of people that continue to prefer having physical copies as opposed to just digital.

I prefer YouTube videos. Her voice is at least natural.

Her edited voice is worse than the real one when it's supposed to be the other way around. So that doesn't make any sense to me.

was just checking/ playing on TM for her june 5th dates and her regular FORCH 4- 5- 2 tickets are now $695 or so, that way to much for that show, what are they thinking , :hmm: :hmm: :giggle: :giggle:
Posted
I'm so disgusted with ticketmaster. I work night shifts currently, so I set my alarm for the time tickets went on sale, woke up just to get them for the final show, and then get the "no tickets available" message for any price range, immediately. I sat there for 10 minutes refreshing, even searching the 7th,but still getting nothing available, and couldn't stay awake. So I wake up later that day, refresh my phone immediately, and hallelujah, the tickets are available! So I rush through buying them, and then get the confirmation that my tickets are official...for the damn 7th! I had last checked the day before just before I fell back asleep and left my phone on that day apparently so at least I've got tickets to the 2nd to last show. Im sure they were inundated with buyers from ripoff sites like stub hub and vivid seats that mark the prices up. It sucks that fans get ripped off by that kind of stuff.

About that interview... Of course she has plans!! But it's clearly too soon to talk about it. If it's about touring, she can't talk about it now.

And when she says "I'm not there yet", she means that's she's not thinking about the end at this point as she has 50 more shows to do. I think it's a very healthy way of thinking. Can you imagine the stress just thinking about everything she has to do for the next year? She has people working for her to worry about that. Even if she knows about everything, she seems to remain detached from it all to avoid the stress.

That's probably why people around her are freaking out as THEY have to plan and worry about these things.
