Can someone please call these morons (or drunks) of ET CANADA (!!!!) first tell them that her name isn't "Selene" and that she surely could also do tours WITHOUT traveling the world ... aka 2016, 2017 and 2018!

I actually don't think this was a bad piece at all. And she responds to both pronunciations of her name, so neither of them are wrong, honestly.

 

SELENE??? :doh: No, seriousely, that is pitiful. They "represent" ET Canada. If these two babbling morons don't know how to pronounce her name right, after 37 years, they really should go back to media school!

With all due respect, neither you, nor anyone else up here knows anything about Célines "capabilities". Why don't you just wait for her plans? But ... I am pretty sure ... whatever she will come up to it won't be enough. For you. And for so many up here. HERE! At her FAN FORUM!!!

And yes, its very obvious what Celines capabilities are, she can come off an ear surgery and perform an entire vegas leg an a tour in the space of 3 months whilst still in recovery. The "tour" that i SPECULATED AND IMAGINED NOT DEMANDED NOR EXPECTED is the same pace as her 2017 schedule which she managed amazingly without a vocal hitch so dont come to me and all me all sorts over a suggestion that id perfectly reasonable AND IS COMPLETE SPECULATION

From what i read aka what Celine said, it sounds like a definite finish on vegas however some are sceptical. And no, most of them just post the instagram post and mention that its been 8 years etc

I think that's good, she's been there since 2011, a very long contract, it's good to have a sack, start new projects, new shows on a tour, maybe a movie, Vegas needs a break, I'm almost sure that she will return to Las after about 3 or 4 years, but this is the time to restart, to return, to invest in her English musical career.

I am anxious for the resumption of this new chapter of this journey.

Let's make sure new things are coming.

Yeah, something like that. But I've learned to take what she says about future plans with a grain of salt... They may have been considering it at the time, but it was just early stages of something that ultimately didn't come to pass.

I feel like she’s never really gonna leave Vegas. She sold all her homes except Vegas, RC is going to UNLV, and the twins are gonna begin schooling. So who knows? Maybe she’s gonna take that heck of a break she talked about with Oprah. Whatever she wants to do, I’m all here for it!

No that was just a rumour shes still in her lake las vegas home she had a addition to it in 2011 and added a ball hockey rink for RC

A short vent regarding this whole "Celine's residency is ending" announcement. It's not really fair to come out with this news TODAY and then say "TOMORROW you can buy tickets for the remaining shows through the end."

For anyone who has ever been to Celine, it's not a cheap endeavor and you literally have given ZERO time to all her real and devoted fans to save money or get travel/ticket funds together. You just dumped it on them that tomorrow they would have to buy their last chance to see her.

You essentially opened the door only to people with lots of money who can drop that kind of coin on her tickets in less than 24 hours notice. Shitty

I was probably part of the minority who did not mind if she would have renewed her contract with CP. I think her run in Vegas definitely helped her brand and put her where she is now as a commercial titan. However, I really love the mini tours she does during summers. I bet she appreciates it too and I hope she will pursue them. I can totally see her doing an US tour as soon as next July/August.

 

Her decision shows two things to me: 1. Vegas was more Rene's thing than Céline's (as some other also mentioned) and 2. She probably wants to slow things down. I mean nowadays, artists at the top of their 'commercial' game do 100 date tour and go on a 2 year break (Katy, Lady Gaga, Justin B, etc.). Celine has been performing a big amount of shows for 16 years. Girl deserves to enjoy life. I can picture her staying in Vegas, while spending more times in Québec with her family and tour the world 2-3 months per year. And releasing new stuff once and a while :)

To be fair, that’s the pronunciation that came with her English speaking international career. I was introduced to Celine (Celeen) Dion. She wasn’t widely known in English speaking Canada until she released “Unison,” and by then in her international career; this is how her name was being pronounced by non-French speaking media and audiences. It was never corrected in these 37 years. It’s not ever going to be.
