In the last few years Céline Dion has performed many covers during her Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

One of the artists that Dion has covered many times was Prince, the famed musician who passed away on Thursday at just 57 years old.

TMZ was the first to report that Prince passed away at his Paisley Park home on Thursday morning.

Throughout her Vegas run, Dion has often covered Prince’s songs “KISS” and “Purple Rain,” the latter of which often evolves into a gorgeous sing-a-long with the audience.

As a thank you and tribute because of the song he wrote for Celine. It's all in how it is handled. I highly doubt many would view it as capitalism if it was done in a heartfelt manner.

So, because of this, a heartfelt dedication shouldn't happen? As you said, "there is always someone in the waiting to spread the dirt for whatever reason," but I am sure the majority would know the intentions were true and not inspired by greed. Furthermore, if people didn't do things due to possible negativity, nothing would ever get done or created.

A few months ago I thought With This Tear would fit the show very well given the fact that Rene had passed away and that Celine was doing a Prince medley. But Ι never dared to post it here because I had already repeated several times how I prefer Celine singing original songs to covers... so another comment about it would be too much. However, since the song is discussed now I have to say that I hope it is included. It is one of the best songs of her sophomore album in my opinion.

I still fail to see how uploading a simple audio video and attaching it to a tribute/thank you posting on her social media accounts and website will bring controversy. Most people would find it very touching and respectful. It's not like I'm suggesting they slap together a digital single and throw it up on iTunes/Amazon Music to make a quick $1.29/download off of his death.

I got to thinking today , If I remember correctly back in Aug 27th or so, she used to go up on the steps and beat the drum during LCMM/ RDMH, what ever happen to that , She was in that green dress, I kind of miss that dress and those legs,

I hope she replaces the two prince songs for two of her own or another legends two songs as the show needs to evolve the way A new day... did.

 

I'm hoping for a slightly different hair style or colour, a few new songs, a new costume and something to change with the staging of the show ( new visuals on the screen ) or a new opening or closing sequence to the show.

 

They will start rehearsals for the European and Canadian shows soon, so all of the above are very possible...

I definitely see something changing, with the Prince medley. I don't see it going away. I also don't necessarily see it staying exactly the same. I feel as though it would be weird for her to not say something about prince before singing.. maybe she will sing kiss and right before purple rain starts she can sing during an extended intro before purple rain, she says a few words and then transitions into "I never meant to cause you any sorrow.."

The single “Beauty and the Beast” was released four months prior to the release of the album ‘Celine Dion’ and it became an instant hit. The word is that it’s after hearing this legendary movie theme on the radio that Prince wanted to write a song for Celine.

“With This Tear” is one of the last songs recorded for the album ‘Celine Dion’ stealing a spot on the album which was originally reserved for “Calling You” from the film ‘Bagdad Cafe’, which Celine regularly sang in concert at the time.

Celine recorded “With This Tear” at the Studio Morin Heights on René’s 50th birthday, January 16, 1992.
