Céline's Return to Colosseum Live Stream - February 23, 2016

I thought I wouldn't say this... But I actually miss this song in the show! It's truly amazing

If you never seen "A New Day" live you will never know how brilliant the staging and Franco Dragones production was. It didn't film well at all on the DVD and it didn't give that show justice, not even close.

 

Exactly! On dvd the camera focuses on certain things/elements of the stage each time whereas when you were watching the whole show it constructed a much better outcome because EVERYTHING worked with each other and created a great general result. Every moment and every square meter had its role.

 

Yeah -- seeing it live vs. on DVD are totally different experiences. But I'm glad we have it on DVD regardless. Celine and Rene were so brave to do a show like A New Day... particularly as it was originally. I will never forget when I first show the show. I was lucky to see it a couple times before they made a lot of changes. When that glass shattered at the beginning, and "Celine" started walking down the steps, it was MAGIC.

 

Though I'm a big fan of the new Vegas show being about the music and her voice, I would like just a bit more magic in the staging and spectacle. Nothing major. Celine is magic all by herself, anyways.

 

Obviously it's good that we have AND on dvd. No doubt about that. But they did miss/mess up a few things. Live experience was overwhelming in a positive sense and was just a masterpiece.

 

I had goosebumps when I first saw AND live, when the glass shattered and she was walking down the stairs as well. The current show is about voice and I love that but in terms of stage and production the current show can't even compare. Even songs that were cut before they made DVD were so brilliantly done. The staging for "Fever" was amazing! The staging for " What a Wonderful World" was amazing seeing how everyone in the audience face was shown on the screen, in black & white, but it had a sparkle in the screen it was SO beautiful live. "I'm alive" staging was GEORGOUS in person I can't even describe how beautiful it was with all the vibrant colors on the screen . " I surrender" looked like the fire was real on stage. I could go on but I won't lol. Whether people liked "AND" or not I ADORED it, it really was beautifully done and magical. This new show is good but it lacks production for a Vegas show, I know Celine doesn't NEED it because her voice IS the show, but why not have it if you can. I really feel the orchestra is taking away from that amazing LED screen.

 

You both mentioned the mirror. It's a pivotal moment of the show and it "broke" me when I first saw it. It was my first Celine concert and back then we didn't know many things about the show, well there were no youtube videos etc, so you were really surprised by everything you saw. Breaking mirror was magical and it also gave me goosebumps. What's more I cried from this very moment because I couldn't believe my dream was finally coming true and it the whole idea mirror/breaking mirror/walking down the stairs/lights/music made the whole experience out of the world. I had my jaw dropped from this very moment and Niagara was falling hehe. And this is the moment they messed up the MOST on dvd because it was a very specific way to commence a show with and it's really missing. Because suddenly everything went dark and you were able just to see Celine(!) walking down those stairs, fading, coming closer, fading and I can't compare the feeling to any other moment of any other Celine show/concert. It was pure magic. And those shivers... I still feel them when I watch the performance though it's not the same. They should have focused on the mirror in the center until "real" Celine appears.

 

I'm all in for the main focus on the voice... but I miss good staging. I mean Celine standing is enough but they don't use the lights/special effects/the LED screen and orchestra enough.

 

Yes the women is Cèline walking down the stairs slowly walking to the stage and then the spot light hit her in the very back of the stage.

But yes, it was actually Cèline on the screen, but as I said the production was sooooo good that the screen looked VERY real through out the entire show in A New Day. It didn't look like a background but rather it looked like with every song, we went to a different world because it was done that well.

 

Yeah, It was definitely Celine and back then I could swear it was her going down it was the best idea ever. Everything else in the show was great, full of colours and ideas but this concept of Celine going towards the stage, the audience to begin the concert it was building the whole atmosphere. And when she appeared for real and the first sound was just flawless. True, each song had its concept and its individual character and yet they created something coherent. Now they don't even try to use the screen not even half as much as they used to. And actually it's a shame that we all have different lights for different songs... nothing else happens.

 

Yeah I agree on both accounts. What I found annoying is that they zoomed in so much on Celine on the AND DVD. I don't get why they didn't add multiple angle options on the DVD. that would have been amazing!

 

I loved the original run of Celine too. It was great up until the MJ part was shortened and eventually cut except for the cello battle. That was just lazy. I also prefer OA and HDYKTMP to IS and Purple Rain

 

We can only HOPE the French set list will be as original as USF was!

 

Yeah! My mother didn't even notice the fire during IS when she was watching the dvd for the first time and... actually it was the most important feature that IS had while watching it live.

 

I also miss OA..... True USF setlist was the BEST setlist even created for a Celine Dion concert.

It was an amazing dress, but she ain't got the figure up top anymore to pull it off... Remember this was when she just returned and was still feeding the twins... lol

idk, i liked the opening night clothes.. but now idk, it does not make sense to me river deep and lcmm.. without showing the legs, she cant move! im not so sure bout the first dress, now it became the second, i really loved the very first one from "celine..." that one from open arms, not sure if is good for her now though

Also dont get me wrong, i liked the cover song, but i loved i surrender as the first song.. and she could sing something from her as french song as well

Agree with you all. It's my least favourite dress, and please celine change your hair. Feels like it's hardly changed for sooooo long now. Hair changed more during AND run, than 2008-2016 to me lol

Yes please! AND era was special, everything changed a lot: costumes/setlists/hair/music sounds on the new albums...

I would go for her pregnant-hair colour when she had twins. She looked perfect on all those covers of the magazines!

 

I agree. I feel like everything in Celine's career has slowed down tremendously since the TCWT. Back in 2007/8, we had received 6 studio albums in 5 years (ANDHC, OH, 1F4T, Miracle, D'elles & TC), and that was despite Celine doing 150 shows a year in Vegas! Then we got a huge 130 date world tour. Since then we've had just 2 studio albums and a French mini-tour (aside from Vegas), and her look has not changed at all in all this time. Back in the 90s her look would change two or three times in the same year!

 

True. It was completely different and somehow they managed to do a lot of stuff. Not only many albums but also maaaany TV appearances (from the Colosseum and outside) and with this new show they were supposed to have more time for everything and they do much less.

Remember that aside from those 6 albums we also got a cd from AND and ONCP. So basically We got 8 albums in 5 years - 2 in 2003, 2 in 2004, 2 in 2007! That's so huge. And both AND and ONCP albums included amazing new songs. I'm not saying that we have to keep it this way (the twins etc.) but come on every album has been pushed back again and again - SA, LMBTL and now this new French album. And it's not that hard to go to the studio and record a bunch of songs if you are Celine Dion

 

During AND era they were more inventive about everything.

 

A mix of both shows would be a flawless show: Take the production, theme, stage design and setlist of the first show, then add the orchestra, outfits and vocals of the second!

I think that the health issue of Rene slowed things down.

 

We had album releases in 2012, 2013 and 2014. This shows they had found a good pace. And maybe they would have released something during 2015 had Rene been well.

 

I also believe they had planed big things as far as touring is concerned like the tour in Asia that was cancelled. If she had done this, then we would all have the impression that many things were done, especially since she visited francophone countries in 2013 and gave a special concert in Jamaica.

 

I think everything will seem different once the French album is released in 2016 and the English one in 2017. The only gap will be 2015.

And don't forget the impact it had on her life that Rene passend away. Things will never be the same and some decisions were done for her. That has changed. She has to make the decisions ( and aldo)
