Kristinaz Posted March 26, 2016 at 05:42 AM Posted March 26, 2016 at 05:42 AM Wow she's gotten amazingly better with the opening number. It's like night and day in comparison to the first night! There are still a few spots here and there for me personally I'd like for her to spruce up but holy! I didn't realize the big change till I compared it side by side with the first performance of it. 2 Quote

There are still a few spots here and there for me personally I'd like for her to spruce up but holy! I didn't realize the big change till I compared it side by side with the first performance of it. Her tone is so much more beautiful now. But let's not forget that the more anyone sings any son it should get better. I don't think she rehearsed it that much before she returned, on top of that she know cameras where there because it was her first show back, AND even tho she's stills mourning Rene I'm sure the song became a tiny bit easier to get through with each passing night. I have to say the Barbara medley is growing on me. I still don't think it's great as a opener but I wouldn't mind if they did a tribute to Streisand with this medley and end with a hologram of her for "tell him". 3 Quote
stevo Posted March 26, 2016 at 08:35 AM Posted March 26, 2016 at 08:35 AM Much better but I still don't want it as the opening again...it needs to be a Celine song 6 Quote

Hope she chooses one of her own songs instead. Besides, that first night the song was really special because she sang it for Rene. But now that special feeling goes away the more she sings the song. Kristinaz Posted March 26, 2016 at 10:23 PM Posted March 26, 2016 at 10:23 PM (edited) I guess I should have posted this in the random comments thoughts or questions thread but I'll try here first. I found this one wiki On 15 January 2012, Celine held a special concert supporting "Play without Pain: Children's Sickle Cell Benefit." The entire concert was filmed and excerpts of "Open Arms" and "Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel)" were shown in the behind the scenes video of the event. A 47-second excerpt of "My Heart Will Go On" from this concert was sold to various news outlets following Celine's sudden announcement that all future concerts would be cancelled in August 2014.[18]I found screencaps and video with excerpts from Lullabye and Open Arms but does anyone know about the MHWGO clip.http://tieba.baidu.com/p/1380732177 Edited March 26, 2016 at 10:24 PM by Kristinaz Quote
Shamrock_1982 Posted March 26, 2016 at 11:13 PM Posted March 26, 2016 at 11:13 PM (edited) I hope when she returns she has darker hair... It's been so light for years, it would be great to see her dark again. I bet they are busy now preparing for the summer concerts in Canada & Europe, and a tweak here and there with the Vegas show. I hope a lot changes in the staging in Vegas, they could use new visuals, do away with the curtain drop, and water curtain, and make more use of screen, technology, stage and use props In the show. ( and change the setlist ofcourse ). I still think letting the audience each night vote between 1-3 songs given to them when the get through security on a monitored touchscreen and not getting to know the winning song until it's performed in the show would be cool. Look at the things Shania used in her show, and how elton dressed the stage and used props. This is lacking... I know she has the voice, but this show needs to now evolve and get better like A new day... did, so I hope it starts happening finally. I know I'm asking a lot... but she likes to impress and make people keep coming back, and for a Vegas show which involves just one artist, a lot is expected and it needs to be refreshed every now and again in the different ways mentioned above, to keep people interested and keep fans happy in all aspects of seeing Celine perform... ( oh yeah a new costume or 2 ) I forgot that one lmao. Edited March 26, 2016 at 11:21 PM by Shamrock_1982 5 Quote

It didn't film well at all on the DVD and it didn't give that show justice, not even close. Yeah -- seeing it live vs. on DVD are totally different experiences. But I'm glad we have it on DVD regardless. Celine and Rene were so brave to do a show like A New Day... particularly as it was originally. I will never forget when I first show the show. I was lucky to see it a couple times before they made a lot of changes. When that glass shattered at the beginning, and "Celine" started walking down the steps, it was MAGIC. Though I'm a big fan of the new Vegas show being about the music and her voice, I would like just a bit more magic in the staging and spectacle. Nothing major. Celine is magic all by herself, anyways. But considering her personal circumstances, I'm fine waiting a while before they do any major changes. But you never know! There might be all kinds of new surprises from Celine and her team. I think Celine will want to continue to make Rene proud just as she always did when he was still with us. I think part of her work ethic that so many people talk about stems from her wanting to impress Rene. 2 Quote

I think part of her work ethic that so many people talk about stems from her wanting to impress Rene. I had goosebumps when I first saw AND live, when the glass shattered and she was walking down the stairs as well. The current show is about voice and I love that but in terms of stage and production the current show can't even compare. Even songs that were cut before they made DVD were so brilliantly done. The staging for "Fever" was amazing! The staging for " What a Wonderful World" was amazing seeing how everyone in the audience face was shown on the screen, in black & white, but it had a sparkle in the screen it was SO beautiful live. "I'm alive" staging was GEORGOUS in person I can't even describe how beautiful it was with all the vibrant colors on the screen . " I surrender" looked like the fire was real on stage. I could go on but I won't lol. Whether people liked "AND" or not I ADORED it, it really was beautifully done and magical. This new show is good but it lacks production for a Vegas show, I know Celine doesn't NEED it because her voice IS the show, but why not have it if you can. I really feel the orchestra is taking away from that amazing LED screen. 5 Quote
celine4evauk Posted March 27, 2016 at 09:14 AM Posted March 27, 2016 at 09:14 AM I loved the walking down the stairs opening, was looking forward to seeing it on the dvd 😕 Really don't want this show to become as busy as AND but some parts need tweaking and a bit of magic. Still got 2/3 years left so hopefully it'll keep evolving - and for the better 😀 It's Céline's birthday soon - her first without René 😕hope she still has a lovely day though. 2 Quote
Alex_Incognito Posted March 27, 2016 at 09:16 AM Posted March 27, 2016 at 09:16 AM What ended up being the AND dvd , to me, was a BORING show. Her voice wasn't in top form, she made too many noises, and her makeup was blech. The bonus features were great...although the fans thing kind of made me depressed for her fans lol That said, I think I'd have enjoyed the original blond dvd so much more. I liked the set list much better. "Celine" , as it originally appeared was pure brilliance to me. No awkward dancing, no stupid mines, just the voice, an orchestra, and beautiful fashion. It's quintessential Celine. Now the new changes, meh, not,a fan, 1 Quote "People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."- Céline Dion, 1990
stevo Posted March 27, 2016 at 10:36 AM Posted March 27, 2016 at 10:36 AM They fought so hard to get that amazing, huge screen and it's not used even to 20% of its potential. A lot of the videos and images on screen are like Windows 97 Screensavers...too simple and no magic. I love the water curtain and I like the curtain drop- but they could push themselves to do something deeper to create the mystique and legend. I want IF EVER A BOY STOOD ON THE MOON...with an amazing space themed, beautiful story on screen...they could do so much more. It's about her voice quite rightly, and I don't want horses and tap-dancing giraffes, but the show could be richer. And she needs a few new dresses 😬 And yes, dark hair. Straight. 4 Quote

I don't get why they didn't add multiple angle options on the DVD. that would have been amazing! I loved the original run of Celine too. It was great up until the MJ part was shortened and eventually cut except for the cello battle. That was just lazy.
