Interesting observation, so you honestly didn't notice it? I cannot but hear the cracks and flat notes.. Hate it.

How has the reception of the performance been in French/francophone media? Have they highlighted the performance and the gesture as such?

Have there been comments on her vocals specifically?

 

 

 

She may have moved as an opera singer, this performance outlines as much as possible the difference between opera singing and pop singing. Certainly this performance lacked classical/opera quality for many reasons.

Also, not only there was too little connection between the orchestra and the singer (seems she could not hear the orchestra at all), also the key was much too low - almost tenor I would say, though less risky than higher register.

 

But, POOR Celine, essentially she is not to blame for this. Apparently too little time for rehearsal was provided.

Nonetheless she chose to make the best of it. I really HOPE anytime soon she will be able to compensate any loss of credibility as a singer or performer, she more than deserves so.

noirmally , i'm really critical but this time, it was something else, there was so much emotions in it. Even my husband knows this about me and when he heard people talking the glitchs on radio (it was everywhere in the news here) , he was thinking i would not have liked that, but no this time is different. She receives mostly love in Québec about this because that was it was about. Edited by québecflower

I utterly adored the performance and I'm still obsessed by it.

I agree.

 

Celine sang with dignity, powerful and fragile at the same time, without the pathetic outburst, appropriate for this occasion. She doesn’t please the audience, doesn’t create in us a sense of pleasantness and satisfaction, there is no joy. She awakens us from fake conformity to think over and to be a better person. In some moments it seemed like her voice ready to breaks and everything fall apart, but that's the point of this imperfect, non-sterile, not polished interpretation, to show all humanity.

well said, it was very human. And true. She made it about Paris and the horrors around the world. I think this her best quality, it is always about the song, not to show off just for showing off. Edited by québecflower

The AMAs is probably going to upload it themselves or it'll be on VEVO. Would make business sense.

Her team may be getting ready to upload the performance to her Vevo and YouTube accounts. Carrie Underwood's performance was posted this morning to her accounts. With that said, knowing TeamCeline's track record, the performance will probably be blocked in the U.S. #Annoying

Thumbs down haters!! The performance was amazing and a very beautiful tribute!

 

Yes, she miss some notes... but hey... I want to see anybody else singing a song for such a circumstances and keeping emotions... I mean... half the audience was crying!

 

For me it was great even though it was not technically perfect! For me a perfect performance means not only sing all notes right, for me a performance is perfect when the singer moves something emotional in me! That's what music makes!!! Otherwise better listen a CD or a lyp sync performance!!!

 

Also the scenography and the dress were so beautiful! THE DRESS :wub: :wub: :wub: At the end when she turns around and then turns again back to the microphone and sings the end of the song... ist just perfection!!!! I love it!!

No reason given. I just hope her team or AMA upload it on their pages. It was easily on pace to reach 2 million views in under 48 hours.

thanks for putting the Tuning back part ,I can't get enough of watching it,imagine the performance without that attitude of her with that dress turning ,these simple things that she adds I love ,like the part where she runs with the white dress during my heart will go on in live at stade de France ,I just love these parts :)
