garçon Posted November 23, 2015 at 11:59 AM Posted November 23, 2015 at 11:59 AM Yeah,, too bad indeed she was off from time to time.. I don't remember if she has even been this off..Never in any mayor performance as far as I can remember. Other than the vocal cracks, obviously the conductor/arranger is to blame for this. I'm in no position to judge Celine, the conductor or the orchestra, but obviously this wasn't prepared well enough. In itself, I loved the concept (rather traditional French full voice, the additional modulation on the last 'aime') though it proved to be far too ambitious.Pity.Really hope media won't single this too much out. Alex_Incognito Posted November 23, 2015 at 12:06 PM Posted November 23, 2015 at 12:06 PM Makes me wonder of she was there for rehearsals or perhaps because it's one of the most popular karaoke tracks in francophone countries, if she just wung it. Allysadreams Posted November 23, 2015 at 12:12 PM Posted November 23, 2015 at 12:12 PM I am not hearing or seeing issues as some people are indicating, it was just a beautiful, raw performance....some times there is perfection in imperfection...... Was Celine tired? Maybe, she has a dying husband, has three very young children and is still doing shows in las vegas, recording her new friench album, doing interviews etc.....I'm amazed she can still sing all. It was a spellbinding performance 3 Quote 'Love Doesn't Ask Why, it speaks from the heart.....'
incognito Posted November 23, 2015 at 12:13 PM Posted November 23, 2015 at 12:13 PM Yes she's all over Twitter but a lot of it is about her tuning Issues No it isn't. The absolute minority 4 Quote
Allysadreams Posted November 23, 2015 at 12:14 PM Posted November 23, 2015 at 12:14 PM I LOVE waking up and Celine being everywhere again! A clip was shown on TV here this morning, her big old face filled my screen! Celine sounded incredible last night. It was made better by the imperfections! Ahh I didn't see it....And less of the 'Old'! Quote 'Love Doesn't Ask Why, it speaks from the heart.....'
VintageCeline Posted November 23, 2015 at 12:18 PM Posted November 23, 2015 at 12:18 PM Ahh I didn't see it....And less of the 'Old'! Haha, it's just a figure of speech! She's still a babe so it's all good! It was on Lorraine (ITV). 1 Quote http://24.media.tumblr.com/94198518f8a09aef1d336d6fde8fc8b3/tumblr_mkdcezs36X1r7lwiso1_400.jpg

I thought so, no wonder, I was on my way to work, Lorraine kind of bugs me so I don't watch the show too often anyway.. Oh my goodness when did you meet Celine? CelineDionFreak Posted November 23, 2015 at 12:25 PM Posted November 23, 2015 at 12:25 PM (edited) Why are y'all complaining she was off? Sure she was pitchy at times- but did you hear the emotion in her voice? I'd like to see y'all go try and sing it with how important Paris is for her! Anyways, downgrading... That last note she did was great! It was sustained beautifully! Popular Post Timster Posted November 23, 2015 at 12:26 PM Popular Post Posted November 23, 2015 at 12:26 PM I think the performance was alright. Her raspy voice reminds me of God bless America. After all, those two performances were full of emotion so no wonder Celine sounds the same here! Anyway the set was flawless and her performance was grand. What concerns me is that the reactions here in France are far from being positive. People won't stop pointing out that she was off hey like "all the time", that it "made their ears bleed" or that "they could have picked up a better person for this tribute" ... Well, I'm French, and of course I was (and still am) in shock after the events but sometimes I don't get my people. Sure it wasn't perfect but it wasn't AWFUL... And regarding the situation I think people should welcome this act with open arms and embrace such a tribute... I'm kind of irritated by those reactions, making Celine look like a failing amateur and I just simply can't understand the lack of simpathy here. I mean, it's a f*****g tribute for God sake! A lot of the comments I've seen from French people on social media are complaining how Celine will do anything if she's paid for it. It's sad that people can't accept that she wasn't paid for this appearance and that it was for something much more important than her image. 8 Quote
CelineDionFreak Posted November 23, 2015 at 12:31 PM Posted November 23, 2015 at 12:31 PM And am I the only one who thought she was done when she walked away from the mic the first time? I was like this was toooo short. Then I was like oh yay she's back LOL 1 Quote I didn't know love until they loved me back to life because somebody loves somebody!Le temps qui compte pour Celine est maintenant!
Jessyka Posted November 23, 2015 at 12:38 PM Posted November 23, 2015 at 12:38 PM Yes she's all over Twitter but a lot of it is about her tuning Issues 99% of the tweets I saw were positive, and yes, I searched for 'celine dion' and went through thousands of tweets. 6 Quote http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff5/backup674/Banners/Image1.jpg
Xpresso Posted November 23, 2015 at 12:41 PM Posted November 23, 2015 at 12:41 PM I thought it was a beautiful performance!! I don't hear the off tune thing some people are talking about...As for people complaining, well the haters will always say something negative even if Céline did her very best performance. But check all the great comments she is getting - and that's what matters most. 3 Quote
Unisono Posted November 23, 2015 at 12:49 PM Posted November 23, 2015 at 12:49 PM I don't think it was a bad performance. She's not in the '90s anymore. But well it's 2015 and she did worst in the past.Happy she used her full voice. Her dress was amazing. She has a clear voice and I think it's the hardest to control. She's one of the few singers whose voice changes every year. Anyway she deliverd what everyone was expecting. (I'd like to know what and where she did wrong cause except for my tastes and from what I hear I don't have skills enough to judge it professionally. Thanks.) 2 Quote
andreaaas Posted November 23, 2015 at 12:50 PM Posted November 23, 2015 at 12:50 PM I'm completely shocked that anyones even complaining. This is what it's sounds like when a human being is singing.Beautiful. 7 Quote http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/9793/edwarddd.jpg Here we go, uh
Alex_Incognito Posted November 23, 2015 at 12:58 PM Posted November 23, 2015 at 12:58 PM Fans here aren't complaining. No one said anything scathing. Just commentary, but overall everything said here's been positive. LOL at people saying she's paid for award shows. 5 Quote "People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."- Céline Dion, 1990

It's sad that people can't accept that she wasn't paid for this appearance and that it was for something much more important than her image. It's probably only french non-celine fans complaining and saying there's better singers they could have picked for the tribute. Well, sorry but I actually can't think of anyone else. Not someone who could stand there and sing a Piaf song who is very successful worldwide and mega in the States. If they do something like this in France then yes maybe there's a singer or group they'd rather have, but speaking internationally - no.Even if the performance had been the best of her career in all aspects, Celine haters still wouldn't have been happy. They can kiss ma derriere 😆 6 Quote
Popular Post Alex_Incognito Posted November 23, 2015 at 01:22 PM Popular Post Posted November 23, 2015 at 01:22 PM The comments Im reading on cherie fm's Facebook page from French fans are glowing. scielle Posted November 23, 2015 at 01:32 PM Author Posted November 23, 2015 at 01:32 PM I agree she was a little off at the beginning, but saved it quickly like the pro she is. Very uncharacteristic for her and I assume it was some technical glitch. But hey, at least we know she was singing live! Quote
MaxRayÎles Posted November 23, 2015 at 01:54 PM Posted November 23, 2015 at 01:54 PM Even if her voice was not perfect pure, this is already better than a lot of artists out there. And I don't think it's about her voice here. Those magical performances like (l'Amour existe encore at Métropolis in 2012, for the victims in 2001, and God Bless America) are memorable moments and her voice was not as strong as the message she was giving, I think you know what I try to say! Popular Post mirage Posted November 23, 2015 at 01:59 PM Popular Post Posted November 23, 2015 at 01:59 PM I loved the performance, and that dress dammnnn it's been a long time ago she appeared in such a beautifull dress! And yes she was off sometimes, the performance would have been AMAZING if she wasnt off.But considering the emotions, the time she had to rehearse, and the whole reason why she is singing this song, i dont blame her, or somebody else. It was amazing, and she showed the world and the audience what real diva's look and act like 10 Quote

destin139 Posted November 23, 2015 at 02:24 PM Posted November 23, 2015 at 02:24 PM Most of the comments I've seen have been overwhelmingly positive. Surely we know she's never going to sing like she did in the 90s anymore, but I thought the sheer raw emotion in her voice was incredible... so powerful and so moving. And she's front page of the Daily Mail website in the UK this afternoon (and they usually don't really like her, so for them to have her front and centre, and be nice about her, is pretty cool!). http://www.dailymail...home/index.html 6 Quote http://i717.photobucket.com/albums/ww171/destin139/Celine2.jpg

Popular Post stevo Posted November 23, 2015 at 02:54 PM Popular Post Posted November 23, 2015 at 02:54 PM I can't bear the miserable people who exaggerate and say things like 'there are so many negative tweets' and 'the majority are complaining about her pitch'- that's just not true and no matter what artist performs what song, there will be people who dont like it and find fault. But for people pushing the point that she was 'off'- I'm actually sure she found it hard to get through the song without choking. I don't know what people expect from Celine. She sang extremely well, an extremely emotional song, a hard song- she floored everyone. 12 Quote
