minolli Posted November 23, 2015 at 04:45 AM Posted November 23, 2015 at 04:45 AM The performance just aired in my time zone, and I have to say, I was deeply moved by it. The reaction of the audience was almost palpable through the TV screen. I had goosebumps the entire time. (Oh, and that dress is amazing. My favorite she's worn in a long time.) On t'aime, Céline! 5 Quote http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lsg43qJH1b1qa4phqo1_400.jpg

Leto introduced Dion by saying that despite everything, peace is possible and by urging viewers to consider the plight of refugees. Dion sang a moving version of famed French singer Edith Piaf's lament "Hymne a l'Amour." artistman2007 Posted November 23, 2015 at 04:51 AM Posted November 23, 2015 at 04:51 AM I feel also that the live stream was kind of different than the videos Quote
AllaneZ Posted November 23, 2015 at 04:52 AM Posted November 23, 2015 at 04:52 AM Not you guys complaining 'off key' bla bla bla It was a tribute performance for crying out loud, it was very emotional for her,you guys out of everybody else should've know Celine has connection with French/Paris, that's why she got a lil bit emotional.I think this is good for her to showing her raw vocals, not so many people have heard her singing that way. Sometimes, perfect is boring, you know... Go Celine!! Love the dress 3 Quote
vlad Posted November 23, 2015 at 04:58 AM Posted November 23, 2015 at 04:58 AM Legendary tribute ;legendary Celine;powerful emotional;legendary interpretation 2 Quote

flutefreak Posted November 23, 2015 at 04:58 AM Posted November 23, 2015 at 04:58 AM Don't know why some think she was off. If anything the orchestra may have been out of tune in my opinion. She was perfection. The live stream seemed to be out of sync lips with sound. The actual video was fine. So proud of her, this is why we love her and finally she got to show the world. 2 Quote

Frozen_Phoenix Posted November 23, 2015 at 05:03 AM Posted November 23, 2015 at 05:03 AM I had also had the impression that she we off quite some times. However, this does not matter at all to me.The fact alone that a French song like that moved the audience like that is amazing.Let's not forget we are talking about the AMAs and this sort of performance is not something you usually see at the AMAs.So thumbs up: for Celine (who looked stunning), the orchestra and also the fantastic video collage in the background. 1 Quote Et la vie glisse sur l'eau du tempsLa vie resiste, prend son elanPour un baiser elle peut se poserLe temps qui compte est toujours compte http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f248/ARMOIT/celinechances-1.png
scielle Posted November 23, 2015 at 05:10 AM Author Posted November 23, 2015 at 05:10 AM That may well be the first positive thing Rolling Stone has ever said about her. I loved the nod to Quebec. Classy and powerful all around. The world needs more Celine in French. She's got more class in her pinky toe than most people in that AMA show put together. Respect. 5 Quote
marc-02 Posted November 23, 2015 at 05:10 AM Posted November 23, 2015 at 05:10 AM Billboard ranked Celine's performance as the 4th best of the night... below Bieber and Ariana?? Seriously?4. Celine Dion, "Hymne a L'Amour"As a tribute to the many lives lost, and countless lives affected, in the recent Paris attacks, the AMAs brought out Celine Dion to sing a chanson popularized by French vocal legend Edith Piaf. Dion sang "Hymne a L'Amour," giving the decades-old song new life with her powerhouse vocals while a montage of Paris landmarks and makeshift memorials outside Le Bataclan played on the screen behind her. http://www.billboard.com/articles/events/amas/6770330/amas-2015-performances-ranked 1 Quote
marc-02 Posted November 23, 2015 at 05:19 AM Posted November 23, 2015 at 05:19 AM Another one from billboard:Celine Dion performs tribute to ParisWith a heartfelt preamble from Jared Leto, the iconic songbird performed "Hymne a L’Amour" for a touching tribute to Paris and the victims of the recent attacks at Le Bataclan. With a montage of the city's landmarks including The Louvre and The Eiffel Tower, Dion did Edith Piaf's record justice. http://www.billboard.com/articles/events/amas/6770323/best-worst-moments-amas-2015-american-music-awards Quote

incognito Posted November 23, 2015 at 05:33 AM Posted November 23, 2015 at 05:33 AM Edith Piaf was my imaginary friend when I was a kid. Creepy I know 3 Quote
PuraVida Posted November 23, 2015 at 05:37 AM Posted November 23, 2015 at 05:37 AM Obviously, Celine can never commit an error. However, I think she could have done better--maybe they should have lowered the key. Still, such power! And something inside me wants to blame the AMAs for the seeming lack of coordination between orchestra and singer. Quote

celinefanonline Posted November 23, 2015 at 06:26 AM Posted November 23, 2015 at 06:26 AM (edited) u know what i think she should record the song (if not already recorded) and probably release as a single (charity single) or include in the new french album as a bonus track! CelinesDIVO5 Posted November 23, 2015 at 06:27 AM Posted November 23, 2015 at 06:27 AM u know what i think she should record the song (if not already recorded) and probably release as a single (charity single) or include in the new french album as a bonus track! Then she'll be looked at as capitalizing on the tribute and the tragedy. Bad idea. It was a special moment in time and should be left at that. 6 Quote https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL54qnRGM2gMatthew Charles - "Fix You" - Live at The Stonewall InnStonewall Sensation - Season 15Originally written and performed by Coldplay
