Celine Dion to perform Hymne a l'Amour at AMAs

Yes Americans say hateful things about her. Unfortunately people behind a computer feel free to spit vulgar comments without regard to that person's feelings. I guess it's just an American problem and it must not happen any where else in the world.

No wonder she doesn't want to get on social media.

Sorry Sherri.

I really don't understand why people here say there are tons of negative comments about her performance on the internet :wtf: . It's like they've never been on Twitter/Youtube/Google before and don't know haters are everywhere. It's all extremely positive in the end.

Coming back to the performance, I can't help but think of the out-of-tune notes, the slip in the lyrics, the hot potato in her mouth at some points, the mimicking of Edith Piaf's voice. Yet, it was just wonderful. Her pure magical tone is back. Some of the high notes are just woow. And such an emotional performance. This is how I always pictures the older Celine singing.

I quite liked that her voice wasn't perfect. It showed (though she always does) how much she was feeling emotionally. It really was a spectacular performance and all the reviews I've read have been very positive about how it touched peoples emotions. I loved particularly the instrumental at the end before the last part where she turned away then swished her skirt , turned back and sang the last section. Very powerful. As a side note, am I right in thinking she was voted 2nd or 3rd best female francophone artist in a French poll?? I have a funny feeling she was second to Edith Piaf. In which case she was perfect for this role. 😊

Don't worry about it! You didn't know. You were just quoting your thoughts on the articles you had found. :)

I didn't know love until they loved me back to life because somebody loves somebody!

I am worried about it, I don't like it when I say things that upset people, and it's not what I meant. I was just saying what I was thinking, but it was obviously wrong.

I agree with you about her mimicking Piaf because I had that same feeling. She's very literal sometimes.

Does anyone have a HQ photo of her at the end with her one arm up and the Eiffel Tower in back lit up with the French flag colors?

There has been so much positivity and respect for Celine's performance. People seem to really understand that it was more about power and emotion rather than perfection -- considering this was a tribute to Paris.

She is still trending all over the internet! So wonderful for her. She deserves this sort of respect.

Is it just me or the Rolling Stone has just branded Celine's performance as 'breathtaking'? :giggle:

How Do You Keep The Music Playing? - Celine Opening Night March 15th, March 16th

Same thing here in Italy. All networks talked about her rendition and how she's given a voice to Paris. It was great to see her on tv again. It would have been better if it was for a different occasion but let me say that this moment is way way way better than I Surrender or All By Myself, just to say that it was real, it was felt, it was simple. The atmosphere, the lights, the look, the dress and the end when she rises her arm along with the musicians its such a perfect work of art.

the big screen at Caesars Palace should project pics/videos like we had on this performance

Agree.

It's not used at its full potential. And sometimes images don't fit the songs.

Wow!! What a performance..So emotional!

This one goes down as my second favourite live performance ever, after L'Amour existe encore for the 9/11. As most of you say it' s all about emotions, not perfection. And this ending, can't stop repeating it over and over again. Thank you Celine.

Time flies...
