I hoped she did not sing that "old school way" but it actually was stunning. Very unperfect as you said but so moving. She may have been moved also because it's a love song saying "If one day death takes you away from me, it doesn't matter. God reunites those who are truly in love". And it's part of the legend of Piaf that she performed that song on stage for the very first time some hours after her big love Marcel Cerdan crashed. To come back to yesterday show i have to say i cried at the end, the Bue White Red Eiffel Tower with the blue enlightened room was touching me so deeply such as when I see the world famous monuments in blue white red. After all, those two performances were full of emotion so no wonder Celine sounds the same here! Anyway the set was flawless and her performance was grand. What concerns me is that the reactions here in France are far from being positive. People won't stop pointing out that she was off hey like "all the time", that it "made their ears bleed" or that "they could have picked up a better person for this tribute" ... Well, I'm French, and of course I was (and still am) in shock after the events but sometimes I don't get my people. Sure it wasn't perfect but it wasn't AWFUL... And regarding the situation I think people should welcome this act with open arms and embrace such a tribute... I'm kind of irritated by those reactions, making Celine look like a failing amateur and I just simply can't understand the lack of simpathy here. I mean, it's a f*****g tribute for God sake! 6 Quote
