That's a shame about it being blocked. Many media outlets linked to it so... there goes the viral effect.

Sad that so many of her great videos and live performances end up being taken down. There are so many ways to properly track and legally monetize these things now if you're the copyright owner... I just don't get why so many chose to take them down rather than capitalize on the viewership. (But then, as someone who works with a lot of entertainment conglomerates as clients, I really shouldn't be that surprised... they're ridiculously old school and paranoid about protecting their position; completely behind times.)

i was surprised to see many media outlets linking to it. I guess cuz it was the best quality one out there. I wish it would go back up though with a disclaimer saying it belongs to Dick Clark. Then I think they would leave it alone..

Would the previous links still link up to it? If it does maybe we could still keep the 1.5 million views in 24 hours. That has to be a record of some sort..

Thought I'd share: Celine was chosen by the following as one of the BEST performances of this years American Music Awards-

Billboard: A top 5 performance. Billboard stated- "Dion sang "Hymne a L'Amour, giving the decades-old song new life with her powerhouse vocals"

Rolling Stone: One of the best moments of the night, and stated Celine's performance was "mournful and uplifting"

USA Today: A top 5 performance

AOL: A top 5 performance

ABC News: A top 5 performance, calling the performance "poignant"

and The International Times: They rated their top 9 best AMA performances, and Celine's performace of "Hymne a L'Amour" # 1!!!

Maybe the best complement for Celine's performance was by the American Music Awards themselves, which said "Thank you Celine Dion. That was beautiful."

Celine stole the show at the AMA's! This performance from Celine is one that makes me excited to call myself a huge Celine Dion fan!

I love when the world gives Celine the credit she deserves! May God bless Celine!!! She is amazing!!!

It is 100% Michel and the other lady in the picture is Celine's publicist. I don't know her name, but she's the one that called Rene and Celine in the middle of an interview once. Celine took the phone from Rene and told her she had to call her back later. LOL.

It was one of the rare times we have seen Celine use a cellphone and it wasn't even her phone. It was Rene's. :laugh:

I have been watching her performance quite a lot already and i am really really proud of her and how humble, honest and respectful she showed herself. We already know she is but she showed and proved the world who she is and that she is indeed one of world's best singers. And with her French-canadian roots chosing her to bring honor to this cause was the best choice.

I'm upset that Celine hasn't had a powerhouse televised live performance in front of millions of people in ages. Here she's flat, she was sick during X Factor UK, Incredible on The Voice was sub-par, 2010 Grammy Tribute to Michael Jackson she didn't sound nearly as good as she did in soundcheck, 2004 Grammy Performance she had audio problems, 2007 AMAs were lipped, her performance on Britain's Got Talent was sub-par when she did LMBTL. It's just so...frustrating! She can't seem to catch a break when it comes to these award shows or high profile appearances, there's always something.

I feel like the last moment where she really shined in front of millions of people was the 1999 Juno Awards...those performances were amazing. I may sound like I'm complaining, but I generally feel she is not appreciated as much as she could be--and sub-par performances (for whatever reason) contribute to that.

Exactly! This is why I'm glad there are no big one-off shows next year. If they are going to make a DVD, it will be a regular tour performance where she will be comfortable, plus they can record over several nights.

Tbh I've seen more negative comments on this forum than on the web..... And yes I've done my research....

There are some comments but 95% have been all positive. The performance wasn't about her voice it was about the emotions of the Paris Tradegy....

It has nothing to do with controlling emotions, the critical issue here is that Celine was full voice singing off key while the whole world was looking at her; or the days to come.

Moreover, probably Celine was not to blame for this in first place, but the director/arranger. They have not paid enough attention to the monitoring.

It's probably becuase she didn't want to promote something so emotional- if you know what I mean. I can see the perfectionist angle, but something tells me they aren't posting it becuase of what it's about.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case. I'm sure she desperately wanted it to be perfect given the occasion, the personal significance, the fact that this is really the first time she was singing in French for a major non-francophone live TV audience, etc.

That being said, the receptions was so overwhelmingly positive, I really am surprised by the radio silence from her team. I so hope we get more Celine en francais on American TV. If they don't see this positive reaction as a hint to do more performances like this, I'll be seriously disappointed.

Celine has never had pitch issues... She was off in parts, and this is because there was a technical problem. It simply CAN'T be anything else...

Her mid belts, breath control, legato delivery and sense of pitch have always been her strongest assets as a singer...

Whatever the reasons for the slight problems, it is simply ludicrous to claim that this performance has undermined Celine's reputation. Among those who watched the show, a majority did not spot any faults (as the overall positive comments show) or doesn't care. And the more time passes, the less relevant this will be.

Does anyone believe seriously that people will still invoke this performance in a few days or weeks as proof that Celine can't sing properly? Those who will remember it, will recall the bigger context and the emotions that were conveyed, not some minor flaws. The fact that four idiots on Twitter may say otherwise is not really a counter-argument.

Frankly, the key wasn't that high. Yes it was two semi-tone higher than the one she did with johnny hallyday back in 2007, but still it was in a range that she usually can handle without a problem. Just happened that her voice was hoarsed that evening. I have even read someone saying that she has gone on the route of Whitney, not having the voice anymore. That being said, while quite a number of people did comment on her pitchy/flat performance, many have also added that with her track records of superb performance, it is acceptable to have this on this occasion. Afterall, majority of the people found her performance emotional and moving.

It was done, and let's just move on and hope for the best in future performances.

Like I said, I saw her Saturday night in Vegas she was very emotional. You could feel it. Give the woman a break, she did great under the circumstances. Who cares about a few haters out there who are probably not fans. I think we are all entitled to our opinion. If you hated it fine. I just think after seeing her the other night she needs our love and support more than ever. I'm sure it was so hard for her thinking of both Rene and Paris. She is so strong.
