I think everyone should just calm down and just agree to disagree in this case. There comes a point where it just goes in circles... :)

Exactly!

Let's see if I got this right:

Now ABC is to blame for broadcasting high quality sound?

They have impaired Celine's performance by registering the sound too well?

Obviously these arguments are just lame. Not in the last place because the very cellphone has registered less of everything, so including the bad stuff from the performance (which I hear equally well).

maybe Celine tried to leave the illuminatis....you see the result. Edited by québecflower

Nothing wrong with healthy debate. That's partly why we're here and I wouldn't want it any other way.

Here's a couple (sadly with some watermarks + one more that I just adore):

Apparently she was a bit off key and produced some flat notes when it was airing on live TV.

But, from the cellphone video above, clearly, she sounds so much in flow with the orchestra, hits all the notes, so powerful and beautiful.

This is not the first time American television tried to sabotage her performance..

They also tried to sabotage her performance on Dance with my father. And I did hear that Celine's ear monitors were not working here and she asked for another sound check and was denied and had to carry on as is because she didn't want to hold up the performance. And don't forget her performance on I Didn't Know Love where the orchestra was a full beat ahead of her. And that was again to do with the television feed.

There is nothing anywhere which stated she was denied a second sound check? She had a second sound check. What has been discussed is that unlike with DWMF where she restarted on live TV she knew it would not be appropriate to restart the Paris tribute.

In Quebec media it's discussed she she wanted to do another sound check but there wasn't time and had to carry on as is with the malfunctioning ear piece. How come all the criticisms completely disregard that. That should shut down any blame pointed towards Celine, but some people are living in their bubble and still trying to drag her down.

Source please (other than YouTube). Because the articles in Quebec media and the people I spoke to stated she got her second sound check.

Its all over YouTube comments. And even if she did get a second sound check, the point is that her ear monitors were not working, which was the reason she could not hear herself.

All Celine has to do is to kill her performance on Michael Buble's TV special and shut down all the trolls that are critisizing her performance. No time for this.

Maybe she could prepare a set of barks and burps just for you.

That last one had to do with bad post production. That special wasn't live.

And who are "they"? Sony music? Do you seriously think any record company would risk a f@$#^ tens of millions investment, which an album like LMBTL is?

Exactly. And the YouTube comments come from a "birdie". It's funny how things evolve and get twisted like Chinese whispers by fandoms.

Anyway, I still love her AMA performance and feel the flaws made it even better. I hope she can, herself, look past the imperfections and not feel disheartened.

Love it how Celine always have 'ear monitors problems' when she sounds flat.

And some fans here blaming high quality sound for Celine's poor vocals. Of course a video taken from a phone erases some of the flat notes because of poor quality.

This was a difficult song, and this is how Celine sounds now. People have to deal with it. It was awesome because of the emotions. Vocally, some parts were great, but she was off a few times. People who deny that should clean their ears. It reminded me in a lesser extent to her last 'Le Blues du Businessman' performance in a French TV show.

Still, despite all the little vocal fails at some points, this performance is one of her most touching ones to me.

This is by no means a difficult song to sing for Celine. The notes are not high and are a constant mid range throughout. The parts where Celine were off key were not high notes by any means. She was simply not in the same key as the orchestra.

Take a listen to Edith Piaf's original version and tell me anything difficult about this song. There is not 1 difficult note to sing.

It is Celine's re-working of the song which made it into this huge bombastic orchestral monster. But again, she managed the "bigness" or "powerfulness" of it just fine. It was the low notes in the beginning where she was off and some mid range notes, which she can sing in her sleep on any given day. :)

Hymne a l'amour is such a regular croon to sing...

Really.

Faux pas.

Sure you know that Edith Piaf was just another singer...

But although Piaf has never failed to deliver the song, as far as recording history provides us with examples, Celine not only sang off tune but also cracked on many notes this last occasion. This actually by taking the full voice tradition as starting point, from my interpretation to whole-heartedly honor the French tradition of singing prominent songs like these from the 'French songbook'.

I'm not a musician, but I have pretty good hearing. And this video, posted here before, with no ABC watermark:

Celine Dion - Hymne à l'amour(Tribute to Paris victims).AMAs 2015.1080i-feed-4.2.2.@rt-v-k.HDMania

https://cloud.mail.ru/public/EXYy/jgwuSSvsH

has a high-quality sound and also is different (better) from the "official" ABC AMAs video transmission/stream (with ABC watermark).

I think it's the video that should be available in the download section of this forum too.

It's not different and it's not better quality sound-wise. It's actually worse quality and polishes the high notes.

The ABC official transmission should be the only one that counts. Everything else is just either worse quality or post-production.

And Hymne A L'Amour is not a difficult song per se, but Celine wanted to sing higher than her normal tone, which is what made that song difficult for her. Which is also why people like it because it brings more emotions.

But Celine cracked on high and mid notes (the 'peu m'importe', 'JE me fous', 'dans le ciel', 'crois-tu qu'on s'aime'). I really cannot understand how someone can say the opposite. :s

I never mentioned anything about Piaf being "just another singer" so stop putting words in my mouth.

But i can say she surely doesn't have a wide a range as Celine, nor as much power.

Hymne is not a difficult song to sing by any accomplished singer, by any stretch of the imagination. At least not Piaf's version, but Celine's version is on steroids lol.

I agree. piaf has this constant vibrato and she sings it with a lot less power and I miss the emotion as well. The way Celine sings the song is with lots of emotion and very appropiated for this special occasion. Celine sang her heart out with constant power. I think she did a great job that night!

I'm not sure if anybody posted this, but my partner gave me this US Magazine page a few days ago. He found it in a magazine at his work. (Sorry about the "crinkliness".)

That's awesome. What a great cover. I hope she wins an Emmy award for this performance!
