Timster Posted November 25, 2015 at 02:28 PM Posted November 25, 2015 at 02:28 PM (edited) It would make sense that a technical error was responsible for Celine's pitching issues, as it's very rare for her to sing off-key like this. I wonder if they will autotune the vocals and release an 'official' video of the performance? Edited November 25, 2015 at 02:28 PM by Timster 4 Quote
CelineDionFreak Posted November 25, 2015 at 02:30 PM Posted November 25, 2015 at 02:30 PM Like I said, I saw her Saturday night in Vegas she was very emotional. You could feel it. Give the woman a break, she did great under the circumstances. Who cares about a few haters out there who are probably not fans. I think we are all entitled to our opinion. If you hated it fine. I just think after seeing her the other night she needs our love and support more than ever. I'm sure it was so hard for her thinking of both Rene and Paris. She is so strong.Exactly!!! zuv Posted November 25, 2015 at 02:41 PM Posted November 25, 2015 at 02:41 PM I wonder if sells of her French albums have gone up in iTunes US since Sunday night. Anyway to find out? 1 Quote
CelinesDIVO5 Posted November 25, 2015 at 02:47 PM Posted November 25, 2015 at 02:47 PM Entirely too negative?Celine has not lost any credibility? Only in my eyes and not to the public at large? Apparently you haven't paid any attention to the reception of the performance outside this fan forum. Have a seat and check out some of these comments: https://twitter.com/... flat&src=typdhttps://twitter.com/...ff key&src=typdhttps://twitter.com/...f tune&src=typd And these are just some outings on Twitter. International media have covered her flat singing also. Again, this performance did not add to her image as the prime singer of her generation.Though if you wanna support Celine blindly and cannot stand any critique on her performing, please don't bother to do any research on the performance by checking negative comments. Soooo...the negative comments that she always gets (the ones every singer gets from non fans) make Celine lose vocal credibility? Of course there are going to be negative comments from people who already don't like her. I don't support Celine blindly, FYI. I know she was off in this performance. It doesn't mean she's lost credibility. If we have off days at our jobs, does that mean we are no longer credible enough to do them right? No...it just means we had an off day. 5 Quote https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL54qnRGM2gMatthew Charles - "Fix You" - Live at The Stonewall InnStonewall Sensation - Season 15Originally written and performed by Coldplay
Xpresso Posted November 25, 2015 at 02:57 PM Posted November 25, 2015 at 02:57 PM Well look at it this way... she also got a lot of rave reviews. Even Rolling Stone magazine which is always so mean to Céline had amazing comments about the performance. And some of those twitter comments about Céline being off key are from so called "musicians". If they were really musicans, they would know right away that it had to be a technical issue... ... Musicians my !!! 6 Quote

artistman2007 Posted November 25, 2015 at 03:14 PM Posted November 25, 2015 at 03:14 PM The weirdest thing about that performance that I really loved is that celine herself didn't look 1٪ confused or unsure or even nervous like the performances that I talked about before (grammys, oscars,or xfactor) but she was confidant ,strong ,didn't give a damn, and that what I loved the most and made me even unsure if she's really off key loool 4 Quote

Arguably she has never -or very rarely perhaps- amassed this kind of attention (including social media etc.), at least not in the past fifteen years.Exactly therefore it's such a shame part of the performance was screwed up.For whatever reason. garçon Posted November 25, 2015 at 03:23 PM Posted November 25, 2015 at 03:23 PM (edited) Frankly, the key wasn't that high. Yes it was two semi-tone higher than the one she did with johnny hallyday back in 2007, but still it was in a range that she usually can handle without a problem. Just happened that her voice was hoarsed that evening. I have even read someone saying that she has gone on the route of Whitney, not having the voice anymore. That being said, while quite a number of people did comment on her pitchy/flat performance, many have also added that with her track records of superb performance, it is acceptable to have this on this occasion. Afterall, majority of the people found her performance emotional and moving. It was done, and let's just move on and hope for the best in future performances. The key was tenor - i would say.And besides the off tune notes she had a few apparent cracks. Edited November 25, 2015 at 03:25 PM by garçon Quote

So freakin' true. And she doesn't get time to rehearse as much as the others as she always has other engagements. I mean, Ariana was rehearsing since Thursday for her AMAs. 2 Quote
flutefreak Posted November 25, 2015 at 04:33 PM Posted November 25, 2015 at 04:33 PM Hey now folks. I'm a musician and I seeing Celine sing the other night just gives me a whole new level of respect for her. I can't imagine how much strength it took for her to do this performance. Not all of us musicians are slamming her to make ourselves look better. At least not me. I understand the stress, nerves, technical things, etc. No performance is ever perfect. It is an artform and isn't supposed to be. 4 Quote

Nonetheless, you are completely right by saying it showed her off as human.I'm sorry to say however that I was hoping for something divine to happen. She has that rare gift, to live up to the highest expectations. In my opinion, the last performance this was not the case. To me, she failed pitifully.Though from what I've heard she was barely to blame for it. Please pardon my harsh critique. I'm sincerely happy many of you feel otherwise.Maybe I have to give this a few weeks and then watch the performance with a fresh 'look'. For now, It's not just my intention to spoil the party or whatever. But we have all the right to utter some critique every now and then, if righteous. She's an artist for ##^@ sake.. At least, I regard her as such. Quote

I personally got goosbumps by the end and I know others did too.... I was so proud she was even putting herself in that position Trust me this has only been a good thing for her.... Her voice could have been better yes.... But it could have also been a lot worse! The young people of today would be blown away by such a performance.... What other artist sings like that even with its faults? im sure this performance will only be a gateway to greater TV performances in the future..... People have a lot of respect for her Kev x Quote

It refers to the inexchangeable vs. speciality thing. But let's not raise the bar to discussions on semantics here. Of course, to me she barely lost credibility as a singer. I've heard and seen more than enough, like most people here. But to many other people her flawless image was affected. Quote

I have heard people who don't loves her as much say that this performance was touching. She has come harsh crtics here in Québec, and this time, yes some said it was not perfect, but everyone thought it was epic and emotional and understood what she was confronted with doing this, Admiration for her is at a max around here, and i must say , i'm surprised by hit. 3 Quote Plus qu'ailleurs , but now Si c'était à refaire , i still love tant de temps....
