Is this the August 1 show? I’m sure i have watched this on YouTube (fancam) before

Yeah August 1 show. When I searched on Youtube I only found July 31 and August 5 as the closest. But this show must be out there. I mean almost every recent show is out there so why was this one "forgotten". Also since this was televised and people knew it was going to be I have hard time believing no hardcore fans were in the crowd.

Please post if you happen to find or know where. I'll keep searching.

I never know about this Eddy Marnay tribute event in 2003 until today. It was like finding a treasure chest full of gold! 😍 Her Eddy Marnay recordings in the 80s are some of her best work and to hear her sing them live so many years later is phenomenal.

You mean wired? I don’t think that’s the reason because even on this tour she sings “All by Myself”, “Because You Loved Me” and “My Heart Will Go On” with a wireless mic. She used to sing with a wireless mic on the TCWT too and that’s when she was most into lipping.

There are so many great songs that she could and should sing but I’ve learned not to wish for too much anymore. The basic requirement though is that she sings her hits and that’s why I don’t get why for this tour they left out IDAN, Destin, JSP, JOTI and ONCP.

Thanks for the translation. I've seen this video in past but skipped through most of the video cause I know zero french. With translation I get way more out of the clip. Like this pretty funny quote about wired vs wireless mic and that most superstars uses wireless microphones.

In Celines case I think she just prefer corded mic and the rest that comes with that like better sound, more protected against failure etc. is just happy accidents so to speak. I mean she has used it mostly for like 30 years even when she didn't lip that much.

Yep that is really true.

I also think the songs you mentioned is really strange that they are left out. Although since the tour has been postponed you can always hope they can take some time and look over the current setlist. I think especially of the french songs that they might add for the "french" countries later. To left those out, especially in France, is almost a crime.

She has said before that she uses a wired mic because that’s what she used when she started and that makes her more secure and happy. That, in turn, results in her singing better.

Yes, wired. Oops. And hmm you're right. But also those were exceptions and not the role. Did she use a wireless mic during LTAL for those songs? I thought so?

 

I guess otherwise it really just is a habit. And yes, I saw her say that it makes her more secure and happy to have the wired mic in the L'ete Indien interview posted above, but I was thinking maybe she had ulterior motives lol.

5:09 is the start of the auto tune. I don’t know why they do that but they did that since 2011. Open Arms. Not necessarily needed but they think it’s beautiful but it’s not. It sounded robotic. Most noticeable in the early Céline residency show 2011-2014, the last belt note of MHWGO (pre recorded) The vibrato sounded so robotic

This was the moment when the Celine hatred started, I remember. Everyone I knew accused her of “screaming” the big note as opposed to singing it. My friends and the press started to make fun of her big gestures and the hitting of herself. Then MHWGO happened and the hatred sky-rocketed, SNL began having Ana Gasteyer play her and make fun of hitting herself in the chest. This was all made worse by the infamous Oscars performance where she hits the blue diamond on her chest when she goes to hit herself. She became both a worldwide star and an object of ridicule during those 2 years - ‘97/‘98.
