Yeah you're right and after some digging on Youtube I found Columbus also.

From memory I thought it was more shows she did that but it wasn't. :down:

Never saw this before . .the press conference right after Eurovision song contest. Super interesting. Celine openly admitting that she wanted to win, that she wants to be popular internationally . . .for so many years, she's downplayed her ambition, talking about being a mom and picking her own tomatoes or whatever -- it's so interesting to see how openly ambitious she was when she was young. And so interesting to watch Rene defend her . .having to explain how popular she was in Canada, why it was legit for her to be representing Switzerland, etc. I also think his French accent was a lot stronger then than it was later on.

 

Of course, we all know what happened later that night. :laugh:

I want her to sing it like she did in Live à Paris.

 

This drives me crazy.. i can't wait to hear her back in France, probably she'll do the full song there and.. im not sure if they'll like the changes

at the same time it's kinda of ''understandable'' its the same song for years...

same goes to mhwgo, she can't really change the song too much, the only thing left is the end..

i guess this hiatus because of covid can ''help'', she was singing non stop for a long time, it can be boring specially with old songs.. now she was forced to stop..

By original I meant in the studio version, she doesn't take a breath between the full hum. I don't mind if she takes a breath, but I want her to do the full 18 seconds of humming in pretty much the exact way it was sung. At least, that's how it sounds best to me. Here is the original for now where humming starts at 4:12

Ah ok I understand. :) Tbh I've never thought it was ONE long note I have always assumed it was two since it is so long. Funny since I can't count how many times I've listened to MHWGO and that got unnoticed. Got to listen even more careful in the future, hehe.

I can understand why she must do it with a breath in the middle. But he original had been great!

Btw since you posted the CBS performance what came to my mind was why can't they use a piano and an acoustic guitar like this. It sounds great.

Think some mix of that and the original version, wow!

Yes, I think many people don't realize it is one of her longest studio notes...if not the longest?

 

I think she should use piano-only too for many songs :) We don't hear it enough! Like when she sang with Carole King piano only.

I think her MHWGO humming (radio edit) has been edited into a longer note without breathing. Because in the original there’s two hums. Plus the edited part at the end before the big note also has been edited for the radio edit. The original have a key change at the end.

It is different (wow I rarely listen to this version much) but this ending hum is 15 seconds continuous as well

If anyone watches this guy's Youtube reactions, I posted a handful of comments for requests that he would do of Celine (since he asked for the links)...I posted the top 4 I want to see, so if you have a YT account you can please like the comments by "elrynx2" I think he is probably the top person of the top 5 youtube vocal reactions, for Celine anyway!!!

A song virtually no one ever talks about from D'eux, and probably the least famous one. But it's one of my favorites. The low note run she does from 2:16 to 2:20 is exquisite

I also rarely listen to this. I can see why they did two versions this one fits the movie theme much better where the other one is more....pop? I don't think the movie version would've sold as much either.

The humming is quiet different it's like a two part hum. The second part sounds similar to the original.

This makes me think there are different vocals in this because I've always thought it was the same between this and the "original". Or are they the same vocals?

 

Also another thing...has she ever sang it in this whisper-type style she sings it in the beginning?

One of my favourites. It's so soothing and perfect at the same time. Whenever, I wanna calm down and listen to something that's gonna make me emotional, I often put this song on. Sometimes I play it with "J'attendais" too. D'Eux is such a gem of an album.

Yes, J'attendais is one of my top 10 songs of hers in French as well. Very soothing. Songs like that and Memoire are ones that only she can do so well. In English, she doesn't have as many touching, soothing, earnest songs as these ones. It's a hard tone to strike.
