Did anyone else catch this? This is the level of detail and behind-the-scenes I like.

That’s fascinating! I love hearing how the song came together, and how the hype crescendoed with each awards show. ‘The Prayer’ was probably her first song that I followed as a true fan, watching each performance as they aired. Good memories!!

What was there to enjoy about this one? It was just her singing the same songs from different tours in different outfits - the same phrases over and over. Lol I don’t get it.

I had never seen this performance of LCMM before! Seeing her perform the album version feels so good, unlike the tiring (I'm sure even for herself) version she's been singing for the past two decades...

Believe it or not, everytime I find a "new" live performance, I think of you because I know how much you appreciate rare 100% live performances from her ^_^

Never seen this before and really interesting. That is what I like with behind the scenes stuff how things work out not always as planned and it becomes a success.

I don't know what's the sound guy is thinking. When i first heard her performance in Billboards 2017 singing MHWGO (pre recorded) the amount of auto tune used was so obvious. The first thing that comes on my mind was "Oh my god", it's quite embarrassing for me. At least, thank god that people watching that didn't care or noticed the autotune enhancements done.

Me too. I thought it would be headlines like "Celine Dion uses auto-tune" bla bla. Since it's so obvious you don't have to be an expert to hear that something doesn't sound like a human. I think since the younger people listens more to new music where auto-tune is present all the time for good or bad they don't notice it like we do who grow up with music without or very small amount of auto-tune.

Really funny it's from a swedish show. She's presented by two veterans in swedish television named Martin Timell and Harald Treutiger. ;)

Don't know what show it is from. Maybe someone else know.

Haha he jokes about you could think that the choir could be her siblings since she is one of fourteen brothers and sisters. :-D

Enjoyable is maybe an over statement but I think these kind of comparisons can be interesting to see how song evolve with the years.

I must say it's so weird to see the letters Ä, Ö on a english speaking board. I mean they are rarely written on english speaking boards usually those letters are written with just an A or O instead.

Omg i love reading that, thankyou! Haha. You are definitely right. I love the more unexpected stuff. The only thing better than a rare youtube surprise from the past is being in the audience for one.

I was growing up during the 90s, so not aware of music or culture at all. I always appreciate when people can tell us their memories of Celine rising to fame, and her big moments. Besides the Oscars performance of MHWGO, I only remember her hitting herself during ABM. Which is why I found it funny that even today, people mimicked her hitting herself---because then I assumed they must be familiar with her performances online of ABM.

 

It's probably unlike any other figure in history to be so polarizing within music -while- being #1, esp. worldwide. Did SNL ever make fun of her more than once?

 

Do you think she screamed the big notes for ABM/MHWGO?

 

I think she was so uncool after the apex of MHWGO that SNL didn't bother ever touching it again. Not that I can remember, anyway. Law Roach/post-Rene Celine is the coolest she's been like, ever.

But yes, people have certainly accused Celine of screaming or screeching in English since the 90s.

They did a couple sketches in ‘99, one in 2001, one in 2002, and then check this out from 2017...not Ana Gasteyer this time ;)

 

*also not counting the time Ariana impersonated Celine’s voice on SNL

Oh lucky you! I know I have HBO channels, but don't know how to cross that over online...I'll have to see. Because no one on the "free" internet would have seen those other Ana skits of Celine for years, I imagine.

Exactly! And no one would really like it. Understanding that you’ve really made it if such a huge show like SNL is lampooning you is one thing but being forced to watch it is another. At least she was a good enough sport about the whole thing to invite Ana G to her tour; however, it’s also flipping the tables and making Ana lampoon her to her face...on her turf...her stage!
