I wish her vevo would upload the performance neyo joined her in vegas for incredible. Unfortunately the two we have kinda suck, i bet the vegas one is good.

I always thought that she lips the hard parts in order to save her voice. That’s why I don’t get why she still sings underneath the playback.

 

I think she’s just a perfectionist and doesn’t want to give a performance of a well known song without sounding perfect, so she uses playback.

Was this something that had been previously released and is just old? Or is this something that had never been released? There’s a big difference in the two as far as ease/rights, etc.

Like The Colour of My Love Tour, The Live In Memphis VHS, Au Couer Du Stade DVD, A New Day... DVD, etc? Or are you expecting unreleased concerts to be released?

it would make perfect sense to release them all for streaming. Just look how many views the TC performances have, it’s impressive. It would be an easy way for them to cash

It’s something I’ve often wondered about. Does anyone know how much money artists/labels make off of streaming? I remember reading years ago that artists made a penny each time a song was streamed. And then Taylor Swift (or some other young star I don’t know) got pissed and pulled all their music? It didn’t say how much a label made off of a stream. Streaming is definitely something I don’t know about business-wise. If anyone has a link to the profit/streaming ratio, I’d appreciate it!

Since the husband is not awake yet and the dogs have been fed and walked and I ain’t doing nothin but sitting here half-paying attention to old seasons of Big Brother, I did a little research myself.

 

The most recent thing I could find says that the artists still make pretty much nothing but Sony, the company, makes a ton of money from streaming.

 

Now I wonder how much of Celine’s catalogue is owned by Sony and how much is owned by Feeling Productions? Whoever owns the property has the rights to release it and make the money. Unless...previous contracts state that a percentage of royalties goes to both companies. Then the one who has a higher percentage would have a higher incentive to release things.

 

This is what I mean about there are so many unknowns re:the business of Celine that we’ll never know why decisions are made the way they are.

Celine was really lucky, because she had her hey days in the 90s when physical records were sold and there was no (or hardly any) internet, so she really cashed with her albums. In addition to that, Rene was smart enough to buy royalties from songwriters. So she really made the big bucks through putting out music. Now everything has changed. Edited by ryba

So Sony makes much more than that. We need to figure out who actually owns the rights to her concerts to figure out how to get them released. No point in going to the wrong source. Anyone know how to figure that out?

Yup! The only live there was the beginning "Treat her like a lady" then, lipped.

 

See! They don't dub. They started dubbing her DVDs/performances since TCWT DVD

I'm so caught off guard by finding out LTAL was lipped. I honestly don't know why i never noticed before. I've always slyly said LTAL tour is hands down her worst with the most lipping but omg LTAL was the best live song in the show, for it to be lipped basically makes full bylm the highlight. That's almost worse than the 2011 vegas show. What a joke of a tour.

 

Can you imagine if these sites and fb groups existed years ago for the LTAL tour? It would make the courage tour setlist look like a winning lottery ticket. I'd love to learn how people would react to that. Honestly the show is short, full of covers and playback. How it receives praise as being a career peak on vocals is beyond any sense i have!!

Well, with any Céline your performance...particularly from that era...I am skeptical going in. To be honest, I wasn’t sure if it was lipped since I hadn’t watched it in so long, I just assumed it was (so maybe bad on my part) and deferred to the wisdom of others when they alleged so. I haven’t actually studied other performances of it.

 

edit: it sounds very not live in Chicago and if 2:04 (which is laughable) doesn’t confirm it then I don’t know what does
