I'm pretty sure it's the Gala Métrostar. Guy Richer co-hosted this gala, and Céline was definitely there (both in 1987 and 1988), as she was nominated for a bunch of stuff:  https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prix_MetroStar

Unfortunately, only the first half of the 1988 Gala is on Youtube... and it's the second half where the big live performances took place, so I couldn't find this performance. 

And it's hard to find archival/historical info about the gala because it fused with the Gala Artis at some point, so their archives are strangely intermingled and partial.

I did find this playlist on youtube though... the staging is really similar and in one of the early 90s videos, you can even see the blue table cloths really clearly.

BUT, I did find Céline in the video in the playlist labeled as "Club Sandwich 1986" (which might actually be 1987 but mislabeled in the playlist -- you can tell by the nominations, which match the ones for 1987 listed on the wikipedia page I linked to above). Céline appears at 53:03, and then Claire Lamarche talks about her a bunch and the camera shows her reactions starting at 54:00.

It's all very confusing and hard to track down, but this is as close as I could get.

My pleasure! It's a little maddening, because when you look up 1988 Gala Métrostar, the video is actually of the Gala Artis, which wasn't the same thing yet, at the time... But in any case, even without finding the actual video, I'm pretty sure that it's the right answer.

I only remember very vaguely about this: Mainly that René’s interruption was completely justified when Beaudoin asked Céline something totally inappropriate (way below the belt) - I just don’t know which program that was, and was the rest of the interview ever broadcast? 

P.S.: The audio on that video is muted!

The show was called "Taquinons la planète" (Let's Tease the Planet) and Raymond Beaudoin is a character on it played by Pierre Brassard. I don't think it ever was broadcast, at least not with that interview...

Update: apparently all (?) the episodes are here: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Taquinons+la+planète It was a pretty short lived show, only from 1992-1994.

Does anyone know if the rest of this is available to watch anywhere? I know it's from the CBC show "Sounds Great", a TV special filmed at the Epcot Center in 1983, and I've seen a montage of other clips from it where she sings with Peter Pringle, but I've never found the whole thing. This specific footage here looks like it's from a documentary which must have been on the CBC Gem Streaming platform at some point (?), which I'd also be happy to find, if anyone has that or knows how to get it! Thanks!

But on the other hand, by October 1988 (song release and gala timing), she already had the much 80s perm/bob haircut from the Incognito era. It's all very confusing!

I already had my suspicions, based on my limited knowledge of French. But that was really awful! I don’t find these guys funny at all—just disrespectful. Especially when, as a fan, you know how much Céline suffered from having to keep her relationship with René a secret for so long. René had every right to cut this interview short. And it goes against journalistic ethics not to stick to agreements—even if you’re a comedian! Shame on that Pierre Brassard!

Just a quick note: I don’t think they meant “just” a French kiss, but oral sex. Which makes the whole thing even worse!

No, I also think that's not correct. As well as the date mentioned on GettyImages (March 1, 1993) - that was the time Céline already had her thin eyebrows. I will ask GettyImages if they can find out the correct date. Unfortunately they do have a lot of mistakes in relation with pictures (not only those of Céline). - But they also correct them as soon as possible. I've written them already numerous times and every time it was changed within days! So, let's see if I can find out something.

Happy to help! I remember when this video (the clip of it) surfaced a few years back and it made me so sad for her. She's clearly uncomfortable but does a really good job of staying calm and collected. I've always had trouble with the parodies and poking fun. I remember in the 90s when Ana Gasteyer did that impression of her during the Titanic boom on Saturday Night Live. I can't remember where I saw it, but there was an interview of her back then talking about how it hurt her, and that at some point her people told her that if she's big enough to be parodied, then she's made it and to not take it personally. But she's so sensitive and self-conscious that I can't imagine that it doesn't sting anyway, even the more "good natured" teasing stuff. (The article I shared when she talks about people laughing about her "fangs" is really heartbreaking too.)

Yes, now that you mention it, I remember that too! Ana Gasteyer was bad - I didn't like her either.
The only one I really find funny is Marc Labrèche - he's overpainting his parodies so much that it doesn't get disrespectful (IMO). And he's so into details.
I'm sure you know the videos. He did quite some.

They laugh because the expectation is delusional given Céline and René’s schedule, the fact that they’re not in a close relationship with Labrèche and that they live in the US. Rousseau’s remark deliberately sounds ungrateful and is so unexpected 😂.

Labrèche doesn’t say when he met Céline in Vegas. His wife died in 2005. He did many parodies of her during the following decades, the latest was a few weeks ago I think (« Céline Galidion »). We don’t know if she still appreciates him. But as this video shows, he really does respect her. I must say I’m always a little torn between laughter and something a bit painful when he mocks her supposed lack of knowledge. I find it harsh. But Quebec humor is often much more direct than in France.
