She worked what is truly an insane amount from 1995-1999. The pressures during that time must’ve been huge. That’s why I don’t care if she goes through this entire pandemic without singing a single song for “the fans.” They got enough from her over the years. She’s earned the time off. 6 Quote
ryba Posted July 15, 2020 at 12:29 PM Posted July 15, 2020 at 12:29 PM Sorry to burst your bubble, but she didn't do all that because she is a cheritable person. She was at the peak of her career and she and Rene wanted to keep her at the very top and gain the most of her status at that time, which - from a business perspective - is what you should do while you are at the top. They made crazy amounts of money and that's why they kept doing it. She could have reduced her work load, but they went for it all the way while they could. Quote

I agree she's earned the time off, and probably needed it (sometimes people use work to avoid other things)...of course the fans provide pressure, but I think Celine also put a lot of pressure on herself, especially in the late 90s...I mean, Celine said she had to or wanted to keep topping herself and the last project...but is that what music is truly about? I think it's just natural. if you achieve this success and status on a global scale, you want to keep it and not get to a point where your work gets worse and makes you stop. Thinking about it, I must say that she really had an incredible life and career, especially when you consider how humbly she stared. Edited July 15, 2020 at 12:48 PM by ryba Quote

She worked her #ss off to make money and to catapult herself to the top of her career. And she did that. So there’s no longer a reason for her to work so hard. She also worked her #ss off from 2002-2007. But it’s never enough for the fans. “Work harder! Sing for us! Dance for us! Release this! Release that! Why are you so lazy? How DARE you not do every since tiny little thing we, the fans, COMMAND of you.” It’s sick the way some fans treat her and it’s the reason so many artists struggle with anxiety and depression. The constant sucking demand from other people that you do more, more, MORE just to satisfy their unhealthy obsession. 3 Quote

jpatdeleon09 Posted July 15, 2020 at 02:36 PM Posted July 15, 2020 at 02:36 PM (edited) Céline did a lot of work during the 90’s and she’s non stop working since late 80’s. It’s so stressful for an artist to build a career like that. Thank god it did great! I’m curious if Rene didn’t get sick back in Late 90’s. Will she keep on going or was it really the time to relax and try to have a baby - maybe this since they have been married since 1994 and yet no baby. Being busy and stressed won’t make you pregnant. I think she will still take a break even if Rene didn’t get sick. Since in her comeback she is nonstop talking about Rene Charles in interviews lol Edited July 15, 2020 at 02:37 PM by jpatdeleon09 Quote

couldawouldashoulda Posted July 15, 2020 at 03:04 PM Posted July 15, 2020 at 03:04 PM you must understand that most of the time she wouldn't have to lift a finger for what her fans want. Releasing already recorded and montaged footage doesn't require her to do ANYTHING! You're right. But it might require Sony to do something. We don't know. And if it does fall to a company which Celine owns...maybe Celine saw the footage and, just like the Millennium concert, she didn't like what she saw and so doesn't want it released. If it's her property, it's her decision as to whether she wants that to be made public. Not yours. She's not going to do something to please you. She doesn't know you. Again...none of us have any inside knowledge into what's going on and why these things aren't being released. I can understand your frustration but, if you don't find a way to let it go, you're just going to stay frustrated for possibly years...over what? That a concert you want isn't being released? Or a music video? Is it really worth it to get upset over that? These things will probably never see the light of day. And I've said this before...none of us will ever know the business reasons why. There could be a million reasons (give me a million reasons.) 1 Quote

Wait.... what year was Rene diagnosed with cancer? I thought it was back in 1999. I understand that they need to keep going as the success of that song was huge. So she was so in demand that time (if i’m using the right term lol) then, it got longer until Rene got sick and that’s the time they really need to have a break. After releasing Let’s Talk About Love album they will take a break. So no tour if that happens? No. They weren't going to release Let's Talk About Love. She'd just spent 3 years touring her most successful French and English albums to date and she wanted a break. However, James Horner approached with MHWGO. Once they decided to record it, they knew (because of how music worked at that time) that she needed to have an album for it to go on. So they began work on another album to build on the success of Falling Into You with the understanding that she'd have to embark on another world tour to support it. During the tour, Rene got sick, she took some time off, came back to finish the tour but made plans to take two full years off so she could conceive a child. With cancer, you don't know that you're clear of it for 5 years so...I'm just supposing here...but I'm sure Celine wanted time with Rene in case the cancer came back. 1 Quote

She was going to take her break without releasing any album. Because back in those days, she still had to tour in order to sell the album. After MHWGO of course, everything changed. She can tour an album off of just her name if she wants to. The only reason I think Courage came about was because it had been six years since her last English album, the album was ready to release, and by having a world tour named after Courage, she could hide that it was simply another greatest hits tour and sell tickets through Europe, where she'd been recently essentially doing a greatest hits tour. 2 Quote

I laughed to myself at the possibility that she is just passing off opinions as if she were a voice coach just to get views and a little bit of money. Probably not the case, but has she ever actually sung? And if so, has she sung as good as you would expect a voice teacher to? 1 Quote
