That's amazing. The quality of her voice is just ridiculous, very 90s-esque.

 

But I have to say, that song is much better live. Despite the very great piano playing, I found myself getting a little bored with the song...I think she only had the piano when she did it live in Vegas (?), but it sounded so much peppier and brasher.

 

I can see why the wouldn't include it in an album though, unless it was a full jazz album. Guess she'll just have to make one.

I mean, live is much, MUCH better, but i was so curious to listen to the studio track!! And I loved, i mean, maybe thats why it did not fit the album, id love as a bonus track.. but idk who leaked it, thank you so much!

I'm not in to dresses at all so for the most time I don't care or recognise what she is wearing. But Celine looks really nice in that outfit in the thumbnail!

I’m not really impressed with Mr. Paganini. It just sounds like the live version note for note. You’d think she’d at least try some different scats. Of course, she has said before that she knows she’s not a jazz singer - that it’s a specific style of singing and she’s not trained in that way - and she is correct about that. I applaud her for knowing what she can do and what she can’t. That’s probably why we have never seen her have a large role in a film. She knows she’s not an actress.

For acting, I think she didn’t have the time to act for a bigger role since she’s so busy with her music career on las vegas shows + the touring. She can act. Mariah can’t act but she got her own movie because she’s not that busy unlike Céline.

 

If she will not go back on Las Vegas when this Courage World Tour ends. Maybe she can act on a movie since no more vegas shows.

I don’t know about the audition during her TCWT but if she did try to audition during those busy schedule... maybe that was the problem?

 

I mean, she can really act. She got the good timing in throwing comedic acts as well. But i think go first with serious roles before doing comedy. Because if you go first with comedy then after that you will go with drama. I think people will not take it seriously.

ABM and TLBSEPM sound incredible in their original keys, but in general the song I miss the most in its original key is “That’s The Way It Is”...I always find it doesn’t have the same effect unless it’s original.

I do agree with those of you who think Celine was underrated, compared to Whitney and Mariah. I think it is not only due to the fact she is from Canada, but also because she is a not a native speaker of English. I know many fans here claim Celine has a cute accent, but many people will not like it. Imagine regular audience listening to a heart-breaking ballad and hear that "the hot dogs go on" I think if Celine were from Toronto or at least was taught English when she was a child it would be differently. ESPECIALLY if Celine was indeed born in the U.S. in a French-speaking family.

 

Besides, I think Celine image was mediocre through the 90s. She was too focused of big ballads, whereas Whitney and Mariah had more uptempo "cool" hits (such as I Wanna Dance with Somebody). Even Mariah's Christmas hit is an uptempo dancing track (All I Want for Christmas Is You). With Celine, TPOL, BYLM, BATB, ABM etc. were all slow ballads. IACBTMN was a bit uptempo though, and TTWII came out only in 1999.

 

I think they could have gone with the more rocky style of Celine in her songs, looks, and videos. I think her voice is amazing for pop rock and rock songs, it went so beautifully in Taking Chances :wub: I love Celine, but I must admit that she was really cheesy with her English career, and quite limited with her style. Still, I never liked Mariah or Whitney at all, and they are overrated in the U.S., in my opinion of course.

In the end I don't really think that that she is canadian matters.

The songs and especially image is what matters. The songs are great and I think they've used Celines voice right like most of her hits are ballads which, I think, is what Celines style and voice is best for.

Celine image, imho, falls way short compared to Mariah and Whitney tbh. Haven't listened or followed the career of Whitney that much and even less to Mariah. Btw to me Mariah is way overrated. Anyway I think both Whitney and Mariah have better images compared to Celine. With Celine I feel it isn't that much of appearance or how you look but more or all about the songs and the voice. Which I like but maybe can be seen, for the masses, as boring. So in some way Celine must work harder to get where she wants cause she doesn't have an appealing image to help her.

Wow that would sound great if she could sing in the original key. I know they often lower the key but rarely think about it but when I hear it in a video like that it is more obvious how it should sound. As I said before would've been great if she did but if lowering the key makes her able or easier to sing the full song live I'm happy she does it that way.

She said at the beginning of 98, she was in Australia, (when she recorded that mhwgo with fly clothes) , i guess on a rare interview that she had some plans for i guess after touring (lets talk) im not sure, or later, and she was so exited coz she said she always wanted to act..

They are some of the other performers in the Best Original Song category. The man is Elliot Smith who sang "Miss Misery" from Good Will Hunting and the woman is Trisha Yearwood who performed "How Do I Live" from Con Air. Celine was the last performer in their segment so they bowed together when she was finished.
