PuraVida Posted September 15, 2021 at 03:15 PM Posted September 15, 2021 at 03:15 PM It'd be interesting to she the charts of her peers (Mariah, JLo, Madonna, etc) to see how she compares. It's normal to see a decline but has she gone down at the same speed or as much as the others? I'll try and get those out for everyone. But I can tell you that in terms of search volume on Youtube Celine ranks higher than Mariah/Whitney, but somehow that tranlsates to less views. This might be because her team is usiing bad key words, for example, or Youtube is somehow suppressing Celine content. 1 Quote

I don't see why Celine should have more, but maybe she does. Quote

I think not many casual fans do that. Or her official version doesn't even appears at all. For example "tout l'or des hommes" (album version), "immortality" (album version) but also "s'il suffisait d'aimer, "ain't gonna look the other way" or l'amour existe encore". It should be that way that every song of her should appear on the very first place, no matter if there's a music video for the song or the song is uploaded multiple times like "immortality", we have the music video (not in Germany though), the album version (two times I don't know why), the "all the way" - version and the "essential collection" - version. The should all appear right on the firts place, than unofficial live versions and fan videos. But mostly it's the other way around. Example "I believe in you (je crois en toi), her official version often doesn't appear, it has 99.179 views but the unofficial versions have up to 27m... all those views should be on Celine's own videos Edited September 16, 2021 at 08:39 AM by ordinary fan 2 Quote
ordinary fan Posted September 16, 2021 at 08:42 AM Posted September 16, 2021 at 08:42 AM Somehow they managed that the videos of the courage album always appear in first place and that translates in views. Compare the videos from her other past albums, all released in 2019, the courage videos were released last but have way more views overall than her past albums which are way more popular 1 Quote

It also has to do with the copyright unlocking the videos in certain countries so that they can appear in search results, but as we know she has many videos blocked in many countries. Guess they gotta clean up the Youtube! Quote

garyhollander Posted October 9, 2021 at 09:44 PM Posted October 9, 2021 at 09:44 PM Moreover, this a Courage album thread, there are a lot of thread for bitching about Team Celine or even a member (I'm kidding with this one). The major part is that most fans are unhappy with Celine's recording career of this decade.Neh I would say the fans that are unhappy are in the minority they all *CENSORED* here on the forum... Quote

PuraVida Posted October 10, 2021 at 07:07 PM Posted October 10, 2021 at 07:07 PM I would like to blame the pandemic for half the things. It's true. Very unforunate, a sad twist of fate. There was so much buildup, and it just feels like a chunk of history got erased. But that's true of more things than just her album. Quote

ryba Posted October 13, 2021 at 12:38 PM Posted October 13, 2021 at 12:38 PM (edited) I think FIY is over 500M, LTAL 480 or so and then TATST comes third. That may be also the reason why she stopped or took that break in 2000. They saw that the sales go down with every following album and that people probably have enough, so they decided to step back for a while to create hunger for more (Just like Adele is doing after every album and tour). Maybe Sony also pressured her (remember, Tomy Mottola was quite a character) and it was all a litte too much for her, so she just said she wants to have a baby and wants a normal life. I think there was a lot going on behind the scenes that we have no idea about, and that baby nad normal life explanation was something similar to the "Aldo needs more time for his family, that's why he won't be the manager anymore" explanation when in reality he got fired. Yes, I do believe that she was exhausted by 1999 after all the touring etc. and wanted a break, but I also believe that there was more to that. Edited October 13, 2021 at 12:44 PM by ryba Quote

She was supposed to take a break after FIY, but then Titanic happened. And then after LTAL, because Rene’s cancer was a huge dose of reality. They didn’t expect that wave with MHWGO, and they made the definitive decision to go on a break. I think ATW was just a means to finish out her current contract with Sony at the time. Or to fulfill a certain amount of albums within a specific time span. 1 Quote https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL54qnRGM2gMatthew Charles - "Fix You" - Live at The Stonewall InnStonewall Sensation - Season 15Originally written and performed by Coldplay
