Back to back album? Trilogy album

1st album = Faith

Now THIS is understated camp, and I LOVE IT.

Didn't got the permission? Didn't want a soundtrack in the new album? It was already popular, and as you know, how opposite Team Celine thinks on decision making.

It should have made total sense, especially in this streaming world. People

Would have listened to that song and courage songs would play after gaining the attention.

Silly move.

YESSSS I agree with you both 100%!! I also think the song "Ashes" SHOULD HAVE BEEN FEATURED on the "Courage" album!!

It was one of her BIGGEST HITS IN YEARS!! & lets face it, in the past 15 years, having the huge hit singles has been very hard to come by for our girl Celine, especially as she has gotten older...

But "Ashes" was a huge success in 2018 & it should have been a part of the "Courage" album!!

& the fact of "Ashes" being a part of a soundtrack as the reason to me is a VERY WEAK EXCUSE FROM SONY!! Because Celine has had SEVERAL ALBUMS in her career that had VERY SUCCESSFUL movie soundtrack songs:

1. "Celine Dion" (self-titled album) - featured "Beauty & The Beast" , theme song to Disneys "Beauty & the Beast", one of Celines earliest big hits!!

2. "Colour Of My Love" - featured "When I Fall In Love" (featuring Clive Griffin) from the movie "Sleepless in Seattle", was not a really big hit song, but was still a hit regardless...

3. "Falling Into You" - featured "Because You Loved Me" from the movie "Up Close & Personal", & we all know is one of Celines BIGGEST hits ever!!

4. "Lets Talk About Love" - featured "My Heart Will Go On" from the movie "Titanic", & we all know is one of Celines BIGGEST hits ever, & her MOST KNOWN song!!

& those are just the most well known examples!! There are a few others, but I do not feel like listing them all lol... But I am sure that proves my point, & ALL OF OUR POINTS!! So if Sony had been able to do it for Celines albums with previous movie songs before, why couldnt they done it for "Courage" & "Ashes"... To me it makes them look like a bunch of LAZY CHEAPSKATES... Sorry but I gotta say it...

Happy holidays my friends & hopefully a happier & healthier new year for Celine & all of us & for every person & animal in the world!! ❤

My guess is that they had so many songs that Céline recorded and thought it would be a shame not to release as many as they could, probably why we ended up with a 21-track album. "Ashes" was already out there so why waste a space in the tracklist with this song. Her team should really be more oriented towards commercial success when it comes to Céline's recording career as not including "Ashes" was indeed a silly move.

I was happier to get more new tracks on Courage since we already had Ashes (although I understand why people might think it should have been on the album). They may also have assumed that Courage would be a bigger success and lead into a new Best Of collection, for which they could have saved Ashes to add as an additional purchase incentive. Granted, artist compilations have been overshadowed by streaming playlists these days, but for artists like Céline who have slightly older fanbases, they can still be highly profitable. Regardless, Courage not building momentum and hitting the heights they may have expected would likely have scuppered any such plans (if they had any, which I've no idea if they did).

In general I think it is quite strange and unprecedented to include a single released almost 18 months earlier on a new album. I get the commercial argument for sure, but otherwise it's just strange.

Wow..I wonder if this would be recorded again by Celine? Because she once said that these songs are like her baby and she got so many songs that they are enough for her next 4 albums, and she might use them if the producers agreed.

If these songs are like her babies she never treats them like that

What are her top 5 worst songs? Maybe it's recency bias but I think Superwoman would go in there lol

I cannot find a fifth one…

1. I hate you then I love you ( cringe cringe)

2. Superwoman

3. Rain tax

4. I’ve got nothing left

I like Rain Tax, catchy. I'll put Save Your Soul(didn't seem fit for LMBTL)

A song's lyrics I don't get is Call The Man. What is it about?

Sometimes I thought it's about calling the strong heart when the world is all wrong and "future isn't clear"

But then I also thought it's just a love break up song(but no)

I like "I Hate You Then I Love You", but I think they should've just left it in Italian and it would've been better. I also like "I've Got Nothing Left" personally, but I could see how it's hard to connect to, esp. given the way she sings it. But I definitely agree with Superwoman/Rain Tax. I'd probably add Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda.

It’s a gospel song! So Call the Man means = Call God

There’s definitely precedent. To Love You More wasn’t released in the U.S. until over 2 years after she recorded it. Also, singles from movies (B&B and WIFIL) I think were released at least a few months before the respective albums they appeared on.

Call the man he’s needed here - it is about God

Call The Man is very intentionally written in such a way as to avoid explicitly being about any god. It's left to the listener's interpretation - certainly, they can infer that to be the case (and I have no doubt it was likely the author's intent), but those of us who find the very idea of a deity to be absurd can also choose to enjoy the song without any religious or non-secular interpretation.

I enjoy the song a lot; I would think far less of it if it were more explicitly theist.

A few months, I understand. A year and a half is something different.

And I would say the difference with TLYM is that, as far as I know, no one outside of Asia had even heard of it. And then, when it was included on her albums, it was only select versions (US and Latin America). And it wasn't already a part of a soundtrack. I would say that's pretty much the only equivalent instance of this happening in her career, and they probably did it for commercial reasons. Albeit it stil seems odd.

I wish she released the album in 2018 and included Ashes, but alas.

To me it is about wanting and finding order and peace in a very chaotic and tragic world. It's not literally about a person or a man coming to save the day, rather saying "this world/situation is messed up and there needs to be a way out of this".

Seems crazy, but despite it being such a huge hit in Asia, TLYM was initially thrown away as a b-side on one of the BYLM CD singles in Ireland/UK, and that was back in May, 1996. Then six months later it got randomly added as a bonus studio track to Live À Paris, which wasn't released in the US. That's partly why it wasn't used as an album track for us on LTAL (along with us getting a couple of other extra tracks instead - Be The Man and Amar Haciendo El Amor).

Then suddenly on All The Way, despite not having been a single, TLYM was promoted to major track status, and it's stayed there ever since. :) Bizarre to think that they didn't initially have much of a plan for TLYM outside of Asia and almost ended up wasting such a big hit in Europe. I also think it's the only Céline track to have shown up on three of her studio albums across different markets (not including compilations) - when it hit big, it was added to The Colour Of My Love in Japan, then it was on Falling Into You, and finally it was added to Let's Talk About Love in the Americas.

It's not that unusual for them to gather together a previous track or two when creating a new album, although the tracks are often treated as territory-specific additions - (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman was included on FIY outside of the US a year after it appeared on Tapestry Revisited, One Heart has a few songs released a year before, and then there are the English-to-French and vice versa nothing-changed-but-the-language tracks.

I never truly understood the lyrics for MHWGO. My heart will go on... go on what? Beating? Loving? "My heart will be able to move on and love someone else?" Or "My heart will still love you even if you are not here anymore"?

I believe that the heart does go on... here, I never understood why it is "the" heart and not "your" heart. Or is it about Celine's heart? :hmm:

That is how I know you go on... once again, what does it mean? Does "go on" mean exist in this case? "I see you in my dreams, so I know that you still exist somewhere?"

I think it means that when you are apart from your love, you heart goes "on" with them. To me, it means "my heart will still love you even if you are not here"

Another song I don't get is, Boundaries.

it's a song about being in love with someone and being so close to someone that you two don't have any walls up between each other.

I always wonder why Celine doesn't write her own songs? She's been in this industry for 4 decades have sung countless songs. She must have had a lot of ideas.

Do you think she will write songs for herself for her last album? Or maybe next? Still have hopes that she writes a song for Text For You
