"Courage" album - Official Topic

I really wish they would bring back proper recording session footage, like we've got with TC and LTAL/SSD. That was freaking awesome! Hearing her raw vocals and seeing her work in the studio is so inspirational and exciting to watch!

For me, why I love Courage so much, is because it's the first English album that I think is all about Celine. The first couple of listens I was really unsure about the album. Then I started listening to every song and hearing the lyrics through the lens of Celine's life during the years she was making it. Whether it's about loss, grief, starting over, or new love it is her most personal English album. This then really opened the album up to me and made me fall in love with it. It's a journey from beginning to end. It's her most soulful English album and I'm just sad that Covid kinda threw a wrench in its tour/promo/etc.

Lyrically & production-wise, such a top-notch album. Just love it.

Oh really ? who said that ?

I think a fan who shared the picture on the official Facebook group.

nobody knows the real story, just because someone said it is a dancer, others will do the same ? we don't know really. Unless the ORIGINAL person who posted that would say the fact. Even the management of THE READ HEADS doesn't know and they don't even post that photo on their page. That page is more CREDIBLE than other pages that only copies and assuming.

I heard she was one of the janitors at the studio and just happened to come to work painted red that day.

To me that's a sign that she needs a better team around her picking and presenting songs. Like I said, 4 or 5 songs sound almost the exact same. The bonus tracks, except Heart of Glass, don't go anywhere. "Flying On My Own" was such a poor single choice because it didn't match the album at all - not to mention it was pretty dated sounding by the time it came out and her diction is atrocious.

Well we apparently have different ears cause th hard way is a masterpiece and i like heart of glass and boundaries is gorgeous

I think Courage had the potential to be a real work of art, but they put a few too many songs on it, and her vocal stylistics she chose ruined some of the best songs she has received in a long time. It was still a breath of fresh air, though.

Great approach. Slightly disappointing execution and management.

Listening to it again it's not as much of an abomination as I was remembering, I still think it's pretty bland, though.

I think if we’d had some kind of a Special or event where she showcased the new songs mostly, and appeared on interviews to sing some of the songs live, we would have had been exposed to a whole new experience of the album. But she got sick again 😥

That live event for the tour was the perfect moment for that.

But somehow that completely got ignored.

Does she know more about Celine's health??? Did Celine record a new song with her? I love Loved Me Back To Life and Heart Of Glass.

I am curious if she has more information than we do regarding Celine's health...

People out there certainly know more. There is no way it's just Celine, her doctors, her 3 sons, Dee, and her housekeepers who know the real extent of the situation. It's just they aren't talking to press or being indiscrete. As they shouldn't.

What made you think Dee and her housekeeper know?

Yeah. Don't care at all for "The hard way." Pretty forgettable. Pure filler to me.

Dee is on her immediate righthand team, and presumably her (NDA'd) staff she has working at her home see her daily--or at least a few times a week.

She needs her daily bun done as no other hairdresser knows how to twist her hair in a bun like Dee Bun. 🙄

Céline's hair these previous years were nothing actually, it was the same ugly bun or the same blonde long hair she does on every concert.

The short hair for CWT was spectacular and totally different. Want more changes like that! Maybe one in team..lmao

Well, she was starting to experiment right before the pandemic actually. Céline had different hairstyles (wigs) every day for her 'hotel catwalk' in NYC.

I agree with your individual assessment of the tracks, but I still maintain that the tracklist was too crowded, and THAT is why so many songs don’t stand out (for some people). It’s a real marathon of an album, even without the bonus tracks. They really ought to have done 2 discs or just released 2 separate albums from these tracks so they had room to breathe.

My faves from the album are:

Baby

Best of All

The Chase

I Will Be Stronger(the strongest/most personal track)

The Hard Way

For the Lover That I Lost

How Did You Get Here (though I would have tamed down her ad libs at the end, which become very redundant)

Look At Us Now (begging for radio play)

Perfect Goodbye

Heart of Glass

Those songs alone could have made an excellent album on their own. There are a few songs I don’t mind (like Boundaries and Change My Mind) but I agree that she copied too closely the demos for me to feel a deep connection.

Just re-reading posts…there’s a demo leak out there of “Change My Mind?”

You don’t need to hear the demo to hear that she’s mimicking LP word for word.

That’s a bit of an assumption.

she does seem to mimic the songs she records from the demos, she has a history of it.

Yes, but I don’t think she sounds anything like LP on CMM. Whereas on “Baby” it’s definitely a Sia imitation.
