I believe it was said by the actors that she recorded new music for the film, atleast one new song

I'm glad to know that

I don't think she was "chasing new fans." I think she was just doing what she wanted, and changing it up for herself to make things fun for her again. She should be allowed to evolve her sound. 30-40 years of the same types of ballads…monotonous, as much as we love them.

I agree. She's not an old fuddy duddy, she genuinely loves the Sia style songbook, along with Adele's songbook.

Please God. No more Sia songs now or NeYo. Done. And done. I’d love a big duets album personally. With Legends and up and comings. Not to make it ‘a hit’ or popular, but just to hear her with people she admires and who admire her. She always gives a lot of herself in duets

Agreed.

A duet brings out the very best in her.

Totally agree, and I hope it's the last time she / her team chases relevancy. The best thing Celine can do to remain relevant is to be herself.

And I would love it if she released a duets album, another Christmas album, a great American songbook album. Getting back in touch with her classic sound IS the "coolest" thing she can do.

With that said, I'm glad for her that she's gotten the chance to play around in the studio and try new things. I'm sure that was empowering and therapeutic for her. But I also hope she can understand what a legend she is with her classic sound, get inspired by that fact, and get back to basics in the studio.

I think she needs to record material that works with her current voice. That is no longer soaring ballad a la IACBTMN or TLYM. I think we expect too much of her based on her “classic sound.” Back to basics is not exactly an option anymore.

I think she could still do big ballads but only in the recording studio. But I think she'll likely go after stuff more along the lines of Courage and Ashes which aren't as difficult as IACBTMN/TPOL/ABM etc to sing live.

Also, if she were actually chasing relevancy or new fans with her song choices/singing style she'd be out there doing everything possible to promote her albums. But we all know that's not the case. I think for her the new music is where she experiments and the live shows are for the masses.

And I’d personally rather her experiment with new sounds on albums so that we have an eclectic and wide variety in her discography. I’d love an album in the vein of Lara Fabian’s “Camouflage.” It’s a freakin masterpiece.

I get what you’re saying - but I think it’s still an option to an extent. Look at Barbra Streisand’s album Walls from 2018. It’s classic Barbra but with her current voice.

I would love a classic Celine album again with powerful ballads

The rest I can't rank cause I don't listen to it. I think I streamed this whole album only a couple of times.

The rest of them are so bad, they never should have seen the light of day. Total sellout IMO just to appeal to the masses and increase the sales/streams.

I'd love to see everyone rank the Courage track list from their most favorite to least favorite.

TOP FIVE:

1. PERFECT GOODBYE (It is still on my monthly streaming playlist since it was released)

2. COURAGE

3. IMPERFECTIONS ( "I have my own imperfections" it's our favorite phrase when my boyfriend says I'm perfect or I say it to him haha)

4. FALLING IN LOVE AGAIN

5. THE HARD WAY

Special mention to The Wicked Game cover but is not officially from this album.

WORST THREE:

1. BABY (Please, stop Sia collabs)

2. FOR THE LOVER THAT I LOST (After hearing the Sam Smith original version, this was always meant for Smith special voice)

3. FLYING ON MY OWN (absolutely out of the album, it worked better as a single release)

I wish the album had been better track listed- starting with FOMO was a mistake. Any semi-casual listener or ‘older’ fan presses play and are greeted with ‘what in the holy hell!?’. Had it opened with the title track to tell us why it represents the album, it would have given the entire project a different vibe and emotion. FOMO definitely does stick out like a bleeding haemorrhoid.

I do love this album but it could have done with more promo and more live performances. We don’t have any promo performances of the album (other than FOMO in vegas) which is really sad.

She did so much promo around that time but for other projects. No promo in the U.K. was a mistake. I know she was unwell and it couldn’t be helped.

I love the whole album and I listen to it daily, but here is my ranking:

Absolute favorits:

flying on my own

imperfections

nobody's watching

perfect goodbye

lovers never die

say yes

change my mind

look at us now

lying down

songs I really love:

courage

the chase

the hard way

boundaries

best of all

for the lover that I lost

songs I really like but don't listen to them as much:

how did you get here

I will be stronger

heart of glass

soul

falling in love again

"baby" is the only song I do like but actually don't really care much for it, it's my least played song out of courage, even though it's nice to hear every once in awhile

bonus tracks for the album for me are ashes and wicked game which I absolutely adore, then recovering, how does a moment last forever, hymn and superwoman which I really like as well :)

Agreed! Should’ve opened with Courage.

I love how everyone gravitates to different songs!

That's why I don't think that any song ever should stay (or should've stayed) unreleased because there will always be people who love the songs for their own reasons and taste. I'm glad that they gave us so many songs with this album because so they can please many people :) Edited by ordinary fan

She also did “Imperfections” for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

But this wasn't officially released. It's strange that we don't have an official live performance of courage, imperfections or lying down yet. Fomo was such a gift and I adore it so much watching it Edited by ordinary fan

It was a promo TV appearance. I’m not sure what you mean by “officially released.”

For one, I think the whole tracklist is incredibly long, so long in fact that the individual songs on it lose their magic. Instead of being a collection of unique works where each one is special, it feels more like they just dumped a whole lot of 2-3 minute tracks they had lying around and called it a day. I think that if they had chosen the absolute best 12 (or more, because I know how hungry some of us were for new material at the time) and carefully ordered them for the best effect it could have worked for me. Heck, with 21 songs no matter how you order them it’s just going to sound like too much and none of the songs will be special anymore.

Then it comes down to the actual quality of the songs. Why does no one write masterpieces anymore? You know, those 5+ minute songs that tell a story and have all these unique elements in them, like a movie (as Céline described IACBTMN). It’s those songs that become classics, that people remember for decades, and that make for legendary live performances. Nowadays, it seems every song just follows the same formula. It’s all just 3-minute-long generic and totally unimpressive songs. There isn’t even scope for spectacular vocal performances anymore and the songs just don’t really go anywhere. Pretty much every song on Courage feels like it’s got some potential but could be taken to a whole other level. No wonder Céline doesn’t perform many of the new songs, just compare them to the ones that do make it on the setlist year after year, tour after tour. Even songs like RDMH, LCMM, TLBSEPT, TR. They were never big hits for Céline but they’re such incredible works of art that of course they get picked for every tour. Why can’t people write songs like that for her anymore? That’s what’s lacking with her newer songs.

The best is yet to come...

Don’t complain about the long track list people. It’s the best thing Celine could give us fans! Appreciate that.

I definitely agree with the quality argument. Many songs really are generic and forgettable without a real „wow factor“.

I know, I know lol. I was very excited about that at the time. It’s just that I’m realizing that perhaps if it had been shorter I would have appreciated each song more, not least because I would have been able to concentrate on and take in each song on a deeper level. With 21 songs I just find it hard to give each of them much individual worth.
