Quite interesting this post from Humberto Gatica. It was posted on his previous Instagram page. He talks about Celine’s “courage”, in February 2016.

 

Where they recording Play Me Like a Love Song? Maybe yes...

 

Maybe it was for Recovering or The Show Must Go On? Since that year was her most painful year for her that’s why Humberto said that about courage

Actually I'd say she started saying that way before that. Back in 2017, to be more exact, after the terrible events that happened at the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester.

about a new album

 

Lying down transforms so well in live performance, who cares if she can't hit well one note there, kudos

for her trying to sing it live. For the last months I hear this one a lot and it has for sure grown on me.

 

They could release a live edited version. As far as lyrics this is one of her strongest among the English albums.

Lying down is one of my fave performance of her in Courage World Tour. It sounds powerful and the visuals/lightings were amazing!!

 

I wish they will put it back in the setlist.. again. They should because she’s now recovered from her throat infection. She’s been singing this song when she was still sick.

On YouTube, “Imperfections” has the most views so far (almost 10 million for the official video and around 2 million for the audio) but “Lying Down” may soon surpass it (also nearing 10 million and appearing to be growing faster). From this perspective, it is a shame they didn’t include “Ashes” on the album as we would have had one 100+ million views song on Courage.

 

I agree about “Lying Down” being performed live. It’s one of the songs on the album which works best on stage, certainly much better than its replacement in the show, “Imperfections”.

She’s been saying that for years. Nothing to do with COVID. I always thought she was referring mainly to car crashes, as in people should drive safely on their way home after the show.

It’s because it was featured on curated playlists. That always results in a multiple bump vs non-playlisted album tracks. The placement on said playlists (and on album) also has an impact (though less so).

I don’t believe this to be true. If you have the entire album to the radio station they would probably choose it over any other track on the album. Whether you like it or not in 2019 or 2021 it’s the most “radio friendly” song on the album. Hence why it was on playlists and “marketed” the most.

Courage is just too emotional to be listened everyday...and not everyone loves that high notes and all in Lying Down and The Hard Way kind of songs. But Imperfections,it's just simple.

Sorry, but this is incredibly naive. I'm not saying you're wrong about Imperfections possibly being the most current and commercial track on the album - it likely was; hence its release as a single, live promotion, and the production of a video. But streaming services are businesses - they don't assess artistic merit or "choose the songs" based on whether they're good or not; they go where the money is. Playlist placement isn't arbitrary and doesn't just happen without label support. Combined with automated, programmatic, algorithmic optimization, this defines what tracks are fed to passive listeners and how frequently, which tends to result in self-perpetuating and exponential streams, and ultimately defines what does well.

 

Streaming services, with industry support, have done a great job of presenting consumers with the illusion of choice and convincing them they have a role in the democratization of musical success, when in reality the services' stranglehold on success is far greater now than radio and the labels enjoyed at the height of payola or the later conglomeratization of the radio format.

Imo, she really loves to sing "Imperfections" live, and seems to really connect with it

and until that happens with one of her own songs, I really love to see that

 

As far as "Ashes" it seems they thought it had it moment and wouldn't help promotion-wise.

They really put lots of thought for the LD live version, her outfit is wonderful as well

She can play around the hard note there, pity they took it down because of this one note.

It's a matter of taste if you find a song good or not. I really like what we heard so far from superwoman

Anyone else think the choir in the chorus of 'Look at us now ' is incredibly beautiful. Those 4 notes they sing in the background... listen closely they are more prominent starting at 2:04 .. Imagine a stripped down version starting with just those 4 notes with a big choir.
