jpatdeleon09 Posted December 13, 2020 at 06:44 AM Posted December 13, 2020 at 06:44 AM 10 million views in only like 5.5 months! This would've 100% got a standing ovation at the Grammys! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKWWyO-C2o0&list=RDJY4_iMEt6Jk But Barbra got the "Flu" 2 Quote
PuraVida Posted December 13, 2020 at 06:55 AM Posted December 13, 2020 at 06:55 AM But Barbra got the "Flu" I know Babs would have done well vocally. Such a shame. Then they got overshadowed by Whitney/Mariah since the song couldn't take off from there. 1 Quote

CelinesDIVO5 Posted December 13, 2020 at 03:21 PM Posted December 13, 2020 at 03:21 PM Was that not because they gave everyone who went to her concert a free cd? Verstuurd vanaf mijn SM-G965F met Tapatalk You still had to separately confirm that you wanted the CD. It wasn’t an automatic gift. 1 Quote https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL54qnRGM2gMatthew Charles - "Fix You" - Live at The Stonewall InnStonewall Sensation - Season 15Originally written and performed by Coldplay

PuraVida Posted December 14, 2020 at 12:18 PM Posted December 14, 2020 at 12:18 PM What is this!?!? Behind-the-Scenes of Celine recording (well, technically here we see her listening/supervising the mixing) her parts to Annie Lennox's group song "Sing" which was released in 2007 on her album. Proceeds to HIV/AIDS work, I think. Quote
PuraVida Posted December 14, 2020 at 12:21 PM Posted December 14, 2020 at 12:21 PM Ooh nice find, thanks! Love seeing (raw) stuff like this No worries! Herby Moreau is doing Celine's team's job for them Maybe he is reading our requests on the forum 1 Quote
ryba Posted December 14, 2020 at 01:59 PM Posted December 14, 2020 at 01:59 PM (edited) it was never released, was it? Edited December 14, 2020 at 02:02 PM by ryba Quote
ryba Posted December 14, 2020 at 02:03 PM Posted December 14, 2020 at 02:03 PM My view: I'm totally over the moon that we got this video, cause I love watching these! As for the song, I don't like it at all, it's really awful, but that's ok. We got the video lol 1 Quote
PuraVida Posted December 14, 2020 at 02:29 PM Posted December 14, 2020 at 02:29 PM (edited) it was never released, was it? I'm shocked not many recognized it immediately or remember it. It was released as a single. It was done as group collab song on Annie's 2007 album Songs of Mass Destruction. You could miss Celine's vocals if you didn't know to listen for them. I think there was a video on Youtube before this VEVO one that had many more views. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRIm5ufzMd4 Edited December 14, 2020 at 02:35 PM by PuraVida 1 Quote
ryba Posted December 14, 2020 at 03:05 PM Posted December 14, 2020 at 03:05 PM wow, so she actually recorded a full duet version and in the final version you can barely hear very few Celine parts (I didn't spot any significant Celine vocals) Quote
PuraVida Posted December 14, 2020 at 03:13 PM Posted December 14, 2020 at 03:13 PM (edited) Well "duet version" aka she just sang the entire song, as all the other contributors did, and then Annie's team is gonna pick whose vocal parts should go where. I think Celine is 3:04, 3:25 - 3:32, 3:43 - 3:50. I think in the mixing video with Celine, the intro head voice notes are also her (but not entirely sure if it's Annie). Those can be heard on the album version I think, but not in the music video. Annie had like 20+ women send in parts in the end, which is crazy for such a short song. But Celine and Annie's voices work so well together. And I know Celine was thrilled because she loves Annie so much. Edited December 14, 2020 at 03:13 PM by PuraVida 1 Quote
ryba Posted December 14, 2020 at 03:17 PM Posted December 14, 2020 at 03:17 PM Did Celine and Humberto got into a dispute there? It seems so Quote
PuraVida Posted December 14, 2020 at 03:32 PM Posted December 14, 2020 at 03:32 PM Did Celine and Humberto got into a dispute there? It seems so Which portions? I think they were just quibbling about the technical details. She thought something got erased and he was insisting all her vocals were kept on their "files" Quote
Xpresso Posted December 14, 2020 at 04:59 PM Posted December 14, 2020 at 04:59 PM (edited) The duet would have been amazing, although a bit too much screaming going on for my liking. Edit: There's actually a thread called New song with Annie Lennox and we could move this over there. Edited December 14, 2020 at 05:02 PM by Xpresso Quote
pat200 Posted December 14, 2020 at 05:00 PM Posted December 14, 2020 at 05:00 PM so many amazing runs and adlibs in this session and we hear almost none of it in the final product. she was drowned with the others. Quote
jpatdeleon09 Posted December 14, 2020 at 05:29 PM Posted December 14, 2020 at 05:29 PM I think the reason why they didn’t include this because Céline’s voice is so powerful and loud. It kinda drowned out Annie here Quote
pat200 Posted December 14, 2020 at 06:25 PM Posted December 14, 2020 at 06:25 PM what's the use of having celine on a song if you can't hear her gorgeous voice? Quote
PuraVida Posted December 15, 2020 at 03:23 AM Posted December 15, 2020 at 03:23 AM what's the use of having celine on a song if you can't hear her gorgeous voice? She was heard, it's just they didn't use her very high belts. The high belts would have always been used as background vocals anyway. Quote

They're hilarious lol Did you see their definitive List of Pop Culture, where they listed 100-200 things that made up pop culture? I think Celine was on it like 2 or 3 times (including with Vegas), it was great to hear them talk about her. I think that inspired this deeper dive into it to give a whole podcast to just this. Then there was another podcast with them, or perhaps somewhere else, where they just use the whole podcast to dissect her song "That's the Way It Is" 1 Quote

It was very entertaining lol They love Celine so much. I love it! I hope Bowen does some more mini Celine tributes on SNL. I didn’t listen to an episode about That’s The Way It Is. PuraVida Posted December 17, 2020 at 03:41 PM Posted December 17, 2020 at 03:41 PM I've heard it mentioned a couple of times now that in the late 90s or early 2000s Celine did a TV special with Elton John? Do we have the full performance or know more details? I know they did a benefit concert for charity a couple times together, at least once, in Vegas....not sure if that's the same thing. Because I don't remember that being broadcast on TV? Quote
