Oops!! I meant that Ziggy was performed in 2017, since I said before only 2013/2016.

So, Ziggy is actually a mainstay for her the last 7 years at least.

Céline has been performing Ziggy regularly since 2008, just not in Quebec.

The best is yet to come...

What was this? Never heard of it

At a certain point in the show Céline would introduce Mego to the audience and say “it must be amazing for you to be working with a full orchestra” or something along those lines. Then Mego would reply “it’s a pleasure in every measure”. They would then keep going with Mego saying things like “I’m stoked with every note” until Céline stopped him. I cringed so much, especially hearing the audience reaction.

At least it was more entertaining to me than Mego’s “pleasure in every measure” speech from the early days of the second Vegas show.

I guess I just didn’t really care for Mego period.

Everybody complained that her old musicians were fired, but she now has a team of aspiring and ambitious new people who are greatful to be part of her musical family and give 100% of themselves, and you can really hear the difference. The concerts are a totally new experience. I can't believe how amazing her 2017 concert in Antwerp was! The whole concert was like a sacred experience :D

"Needed in the chaos and confusion, from the plains to City Hall

Needed where the proud who walk the wire are set to fall"

Which Beethoven version?

Posted

Euh it's the version she started to use since the opening 2015.

And it's called The Beethoven version because of the music he samples during this song.

I think he talked about it in a interview around opening night.

But isn't this basically her go-to version since after the TC tour?

She looked incredible there, but remind me why did that show end on that song and not with MHWGO?

I know why it's called The Beethoven version. But this is the version she has always used (except for TCWT). The OP wanted a high quality version of it, and it's here.

I think Ryba is talking in comparison to the studio version we got.

Celine getting totally ignored 36:53

How is Celine ignored on this? They're talking exclusively about the relationship between Mariah and Whitney, that's why he's mentioning only them two. They were talking about artists that died early.

Don't turn that into a personal attack to Celine.

Zane Lowe said "you and Whitney are the voices, the voices of our generation and generations that followed...."

I think it is Celine erasure! And yes, the talk of the relationship between Mariah and Whitney of course that is just between them. I am talking about the opening introductory comments.

I didn't say attack, I said ignored.

Maybe because of the rivalry of the two compared to Whitney where they had the chance to have a duet. But I wouldn’t make it a big deal. Céline wouldn’t Edited by jpatdeleon09

But they were the voices of a generation. They're were not the ONLY voices of that generation, though. That's what I'm saying. He wasn't excluding anyone else, he was just talking specifically about Mariah and Whitney, and the context of the conversation were artists who died young, and that's how he got to Whitney and her relationship with Mariah.

He wasn't just randomly naming big vocalists of the 90's and purposely left Celine out. And Celine might be off the mídia for a while now, but I don't think she's dead yet😄

I'm not denying they are. But so is Celine. I think everyone should always lump them three together when conversations like that arise. Why didn't or couldn't he have named Celine? It would've taken one second and wouldn't have derailed the interview and would have been true.

I think Celine gets forgotten and/or ignored, and whether he forgot or ignored her is hard to tell. Steam is not coming out of my ears about it, but it is annoying.

Why make a deal about it.

Mariah and Whitney were the voices of that time.

Celine also, but in a completely different way and style.

All 3 great vocals, but when you want to compare I think Mariah and Whitney were in the same league with the vibe of the songs.

So she is not ignored. She simply isn't mentioned because it's not about her.

I am not saying Celine is one and only. I'm saying Celine is in the same league as the other two. Celine and Mariah literally started the same year...not sure what you mean by "that time". They were all relevant during the same period.

It's like being in an interview with Celine and the interviewer saying, "Celine...you and Whitney are the voices of our generation, you taught the people coming up everything about singing" ... there would be an elephant in the room.

I hope it was forgetting rather than ignoring.

I don't think it's either forgetting or ignoring. This is a Mariah special and of course they won't want to mention Celine in any way. I don't think Mariah would have even allowed that Celine is mentioned in her own special. Whitney is a totally different thing, she is sadly gone so no rivalry. If she was alive and having an active career I don't think she would have been mentioned either. Everyone praise you when you die.

What word would you use then? If they explicitly go out of their way to not mention her, or allow her to be mentioned....then that is blacklisting. Unless you have a better word for it?

Can we leave Mariah with her Xmas spiritbusiness and talk about Celine? :giggle:

Celine knew the world would need Courage in 2020 it seems. She can see the future! :D

I want her next album to be called something like “Retour aux Sources” what would be correct translation for that? Back to basics sounds basic af. Lol

An album inspired from the 90’s vibe, dramatic, bombastic with long never ending notes. Adele kinda does it. Why can’t Celine do it? Unless she and you guys think Courage was an attempt at doing just that? I don’t think so. I think Lying Down was an attempt of doing that, but some how that song gets on my nerves easily.

The thought came after listening to the snippet of Superwoman... i know we shouldn’t judge the song from that small piece... but to me it was disappointing and sounded not memorable at all ... like another rush song like There comes a Time or Unfinished Song....

Can we just get another bombastic song like BYLM, IS, TPOL, IACBTMN, ABM, NPO or Us. i don’t care if it doesn’t make #1 because its not the 90’s anymore... She should stick to what she does best, instead of trying to reinvent herself or trying to sound different. Her voice is already one of the most versatile voice there is out there.

But then she does what she wants.... sometimes i think she just wants to tour or be in Vegas cause she makes 100 times the amount of money compared to album sells. Thats why some concerts from Courage World Tour had one song from Courage...

People are mostly nostalgic of her prime time in the 90s, but it also shows they want to hear those kind of songs. They know she can deliver that, still.
