Is that about it?It's the other way around! Spotify thanking Celine for releasing Courage just in time for crazy 2020. And that street is not always empty! mirage Posted December 9, 2020 at 06:18 PM Posted December 9, 2020 at 06:18 PM Yeah it reminded her team that she had an album out last year. And this is their way of promoting it. Cheap and easy. As always. So, just so I’m clear.......they’re thanking Spotify for promoting it on a billboard that nobody sees in person cos the streets are empty? Is that about it? 3 Quote

The last time I researched the album sales it had about 640K copies sold. So, it probably hasn't reached 700K yet. Quote My Webpage >>> TRIBUTE TO CELINE DION

manu23 Posted December 9, 2020 at 11:14 PM Posted December 9, 2020 at 11:14 PM What word would you use then? If they explicitly go out of their way to not mention her, or allow her to be mentioned....then that is blacklisting. Unless you have a better word for it? I'd call it a clever guy that knows Mariah and is avoiding an awkward situation. Also Whitney is not really from Celine or Mariah generation, when they were starting Whitney was already almost over her peak, so I don't think Mariah feels any rivalry towards Whitney. Is like when Celine is compared to Barbra, she probably feels honored, but I'd find it awkward for a reporter asking Celine how she feels being like Mariah. Or maybe the explanation is much simple that all this, they probably picked a lamb to do the interview and he has no clue 1 Quote

I'm sorry, but you're sounding just like them, tbh. You're seeing things that just aren't there and making a big deal out of nothing. Imagine the other way around: if every interviewer that did a compliment or acknowledge Celine impact to a generation were obligated to mention Mariah and/or Whitney... That makes no sense at all. There's no blacklist or banishing in here. Mariah is the one being interview, so it's about her. They were talking about artists that pass away and he mentioned Whitney, who had some kinda of relationship with Mariah for awhile. Celine is not dead and don't have any relationship with Mariah. There was no need for her to be named there. Mariah fans are mostly egocentric, just like herself. But Celine fans aren't that much different, despite Celine being down to earth. 2 Quote

Celine or Whitney or Mariah can get complimented all they want without mentioning the others. It is not like some thought police should instantly appear and force a person to say all three of their names. That's not my point. I am talking about the conversation of "the big voices who inspired the next generation of singers" .... Maybe the interviewer forgot, maybe intentionally ignored Celine, maybe doesn't think Celine is equal. Manu suggested he may be a lamb and/or Mariah would never have allowed him to say such things. There is no way of knowing, but I'm just saying the fact of Celine not being mentioned is an oversight and also a factual error. Because Celine without question is one of the Vocal Trinity. And the time he brought up Whitney was an entirely new section of the interview. If you look, it is segmented differently on the official upload. Yes, it happened to come after George Michael, but there was no transition where he said "Well, speaking of people who passed away too soon, you worked with Whitney". Quote

I don’t think they went out of their way to not mention Celine. Mariah sang a duet with Whitney, and they had a close friendship. Mariah has been known to be shady toward Celine. Sure they exchanged condolences upon miscarriage and death, but that’s what they were expected to do. Celine and Mariah were never known to be friends. Yeah, I'm not talking about the relationship between Mariah and Celine. I never expected Celine to be in Mariah's book, for example, in any serious way unless Mariah mentioned Divas Live. Which Mariah did. I'm talking about the interviewer, who is one of the most prominent music journalists in the world nowadays, and what he said. I would never expect Mariah to correct him in a million years. Celine herself even lumps the three of them together. In the GMA interview years back she was asked about Vegas and Britney/Mariah....and Celine brought up Whitney. No one asked about her, and Whitney has no connection to Vegas. So I'm not bonkers for thinking a music interviewer would do the same. See it at 2:45 https://youtu.be/3eVxT-_mvu0?t=165 Edited December 10, 2020 at 02:58 AM by PuraVida Quote
