It is like some of you have her high on her throne and she cannot do anything wrong. Not everything she touches is gold.

He is right! She has a lot to say and if she does not lift her finger nothing changes.

Yesterday I saw her latest L’Oréal video. So sophisticated and luxurious, perfect. Why do we not see that same quality in her music videos? It could all be so much better.

Ah well. We all have our opinions. Hope something changes sooner or later. You never know.

Because another team is responsible for L'Oreal videos. Not hers. That is a different company with its own team and they handle everything. Just like for the Ashes video. In both things, Celine was just hired to do a job and everyone else took it from there.

With all the talk above, people seem to keep forgetting that Celine lost her husband, her manager, her brother, and her mother in 3 years!! And, other than taking time off to care for Rene, she pretty much went non-stop after his death, even doing mini-tours every summer. Hmmmmmmmmmm.....why could that be, do you think? Maybe she was trying to avoid her grief by working non-stop? Now that she has been forced to take a break, she may finally be dealing with all of her sadness. Maybe she doesn't want to make a video for you telling you she's doing nothing but lying around, making dinner, cleaning the snot out of her children's noses, wiping her #ss when she goes to the bathroom, and generally just lounging around having a vacation. Gee, that'd make for a great video, huh?

"I don't have anything to do because of this pandemic!!!! I'm stuck in my house! Celine needs to entertain me! She needs to do a concert from home! She needs to sing a song from home! She needs to send me a video message from home! I buy her albums. I deserve to be in her thoughts constantly! Wah Wah Wah         "

And before people come at me saying "We're not saying SHE has to do it. Her TEAM can do it." BULL$HIT. Some of you, yes. But some of you have been whining that she's not doing any performances from her home - that would be you complaining about HER. Get over yourselves. Let the f****** woman have some peace for once in her goddamn life. You people are relentless.

The only thing that irks me is when she says she LOVES this song or that song and we love it also and she is so happy about her new album and can't wait for us to hear it and then... crickets. That song (insert title of song she says she LOVES) barely (or never) sees the light of day live yet she will throw random covers at you all day long.

Ok enough of my complaints today. I hope y'all stay safe out there.

That's just because that's what she has to say. Do you think her record company would happy if she made a public announcement "Hey all! I've released this new album and I think it's crap. Probably the worst of my career but please go buy it!" No. Management at the record labels expect her to speak the album positively: "This is the best album of my career. I love these songs so much. They mean so much to me and I can't wait to share them with the fans." That's marketing and public relations. People need to realize that when artists are promoting something, they have to speak postively about it, as if it's the greatest thing that ever existed. That's how you sell something.

She would have done more promotion for the album had she not gotten sick and had to reschedule her tour.

Oh don't worry, I know some things are not perfect but it's her career. All I can do is decide to live with it and keep following her. I can't make her change her or her team's mind unless they ask me. :)

As for L'Oreal, well they seem to have a much bigger budget than Sony offer her. So maybe that's why she goes with L'Oreal. I would! :D

That's a fair comment but she's done that since the very beginning. She loves a lot of songs but won't perform them. Is it because they are too hard to sing live on a regular basis, is it because it won't translate well live, it's hard to say. Maybe one day a decent journalist will ask her that question. :)

She can spend her own money on the videoclip if she wants to make it a masterpiece. Does not only have to rely on Sony or is that a weird thought?

Pff. ...this.. you just cannot stand if you have any critique at her. This is going on ever since Vegas, this is not something just because of now. Exhausting that you cannot have critique on Celine and only on her team. It works both ways. Her and her team.

She’s already answered that question without even being asked. She says that she has to sing her “hits” and there’s no room left but for just a couple. The same lady who must consider... “Let’s Dance”, “Another One Bits the Dust”, “Kiss”, “Lady Marmalade”, “You’re the Voice”, “Imagine” her hits.

She doesn’t sing the songs live because she doesn’t want to, plain and simple. She rather stay in her comfort zone with the playbacks she has available and then pretend like she’s Freddy Mercury for a couple of karaoke hits that she wants to sing. Again, it’s her business she may run it how she chooses, but I’m stating the truth. It’s shows a lack of passion and artistry but having said that, it is what it is I’m not stressing it, the luxury with Celine shows and tours is that the setlist is always posted so AT LEAST she tells us if she’ll continue down this road or actually change things up.

After generating billions of dollars for Sony, why would she invest in her own videos?

Your contradicting yourself here because Another One Bites the Dust, etc. are not her comfort zone like her old hits or playbacks are. And yes, she has to sing the hits unfortunately - and Rene made that clear too.

When I went to see Tina Turner during her last tour, I hadn't never seen her before and I was glad to hear her hits! It's a no brainer really to bring the general public to your shows.

This topic has turned to the setlist again!

I think you answered your own question. I wouldn't mind for Celine to take one year off between works, or even more, if the time she work she actually did good work. All those artists you mentioned work the hell out of their albums, with several videos, singles, performances and, above all, actually sang their new songs on tour (with exception of Britney, but she's dealing with mental health issues and has no control of her life or career, and she is deliberately boycotting her work to fight for some control of her life).

Using Madonna as an example, her album didn't even sell like Courage, but she drop like 5 really well produced videos and sang most of the new album on tour, BTW a tour totally different than her past ones (as always), did a incredible and expensive performance on BMA and performed on Eurovision.

So, when Celine takes 8 months off, it felt so much more because for the past years we've be having the same thing over and over. We had one (bad) music video for LMBTL album, no videos for EUS, barely sang the new songs on tour. And the biggest disappointment is that most of us thought Courage era would come to break that pattern. Would be about Courage, not about her 90's hits, again, as always.

And it's not about hate Celine, it's actually the opposite. It's about loving her and know she has potential to be recognized as more then "that lady who sings the Titanic song". Celine is so much more than her 90's hits. And let's not pretend she or her team doesn't care about that, cause they do. But it's lacking courage, tbh. Courage to drop the past and really tried something new, despite comercial consequences, like all those artists you mentioned do.

Well-said

That's just because that's what she has to say. Do you think her record company would happy if she made a public announcement "Hey all! I've released this new album and I think it's crap. She would have done more promotion for the album had she not gotten sick and had to reschedule her tour.

Until you see the behind-the-scenes and see Celine actually living and loving these songs. Celine has so many songs to choose from, and this last project she had a complete bevy. She only chooses the ones she likes, and is passionate about, otherwise she wouldn't have taken alllll of those extra months to do it.

You're just as speculative as everyone else. And I respect your take and opinion, but you are the one foaming at the mouth to yell at others opinions. Very un-Celine like.

Let’s change the topic for a second cause we’re running in circles...

Its such a shame they didn’t shoot a proper music video for Lovers Never Die in that fancy New York mansion instead of that weird short film where she gives info that could be reported in a simple Interview

One can either focus on the negative or focus on the positive. Where are the people saying: "Wow! While performing steadily in Vegas for three years, Celine launched 3 different summer tours - during her time off!" "Wow! Her mom died and she went on stage that night and performed." "Wow! She released an album with 20 tracks! She's never released an album with that many new songs before. And then a bonus track called "Soul" got released. AND then she released an awesome cover of Wicked Game along with a stripped down version of Imperfections!" "Wow! She headlined opening night of the British Summer Time music festival and performed a kick-#ss show for 60,000 people!"

There's so much goodness to focus on. That's what I mean when I say it's just never enough for some people....

No problem with hits they need to be there whether we like it or not, it’s the rest of the setlist that is garbage.

I’m not contradicting myself at all; The covers ARE her comfort zone! It’s easier for her to sing AOBTD rather than Heart Of Glass for example.

Look at her history she has always done well known covers like “Twist and Shout”, “Alone”, “Can’t Help Falling in love...”, “ The Show Must Go On”, “Purple Rain”, “All The Way”, “I wish” etc...

Cover songs whether rock or funk or ballad is her comfort zone, singing non hits isn’t. Hell she won’t even sing “Ashes” and it’s her closest thing to a recent hit that she has, ANDHC another hit isn’t there, at bare minimum those should be in a tour setlist before these covers but they aren’t. She won’t even perform all of her hits, no wonder why she doesn’t do the new songs or album “fillers”.

It's so silly that we all keep arguing in circles.

1) No one hates Céline

2) Few fans here are demanding more than should be expected from someone who has:

A. not yet retired,

B. just released her most critically acclaimed album in English,

C. possesses a large fortune (and whose tickets carry an insane price tag),

D. is capable of hiring a competent team to do all the hard work so she can focus on family, and

E. is completely capable of doing a better job herself as the "boss". If you're going to be the boss, then act like one!

So there we have 345 pages of this thread summed up.

I've just put all the complainers (I think) on ignore. I suggest others do the same. Just let them *CENSORED* and whine and moan to their hearts content but you won't have to look at it. I'd suggest you guys do the same to me. Then we can all have the forum we want - the positive one and the negative one.

A forum where everyone kisses the ground Celine walks on at all times and all agrees 100% of the time sounds boring as s***.

If we all agree would there be anything to talk about?

I'm a big fan of this feature, but I have noticed that once you've hidden some people -say, they get into a fight with someone else and you don't care about either side, but then after the fight you would like to see their posts again- it's apparently not possible to unblock them. Just a tip to everyone. I am really thankful this feature exists, so we can individually control the experience we want to have on this forum.

That is just shutting yourself down for other’s opinions. Everyone has their opinion and glad they are not all the same. But set everyone on ignore who dares to speak about critique on Celine..that is pathetic

Not everyone who critiques. Constructive criticism is always helpful and most welcome. But the constant whining and moaning and incessant non-stop "I hate everything Celine is doing" is just as boring to read. Many users on here have turned into Javito during his banishment from the forum.

At least Javito has a entertaining view on things, and most things he says actually is true. The forum is less fun without his posts in my opinion.

Do you see me talking about hating things? Only think the setlist are lazy and she should be more active as a singer. Just dissapointment in my case.
