sarit_celine Posted December 4, 2020 at 12:19 AM Posted December 4, 2020 at 12:19 AM (edited) Oh no I do not hate the album but since she basically neglects it I get less interested listening to it because I miss the passion from her to stand for the album. If she would promote the album more - sing for sure more than 2 songs ( hey it is called courage tour) would have released a video for lying down, the hard way and even perfect goodbye, and people on youtube would be excited, it would made me listen to the album with way more interest. It would make me happy and proud for her. Now I feel , these are all great songs but she just released it.and that is it,See it works psychologically like that - I loose my initial interest listening to the songs because it feels like she sang them and that is it. I don.t know how to describe it but it works like that in the mind.. Verzonden vanaf mijn iPad met Tapatalk It was the same case for me.There is no doubt that singing new songs will help us rediscover and reconnect with them more, her live versions were always superior in my opinion to the studio versions, and she always give new and intereting thouch to the song when performing it live. I won't lie that some songs I founded (and still find) hard to "digest" after she decided to embracedifferent approach of singing with many useless sound effects on her raw lovely vocals, so it made it even more hard to connect with some songs. As time went on, I was trying to get used to it, and for the last months I do enjoy "Courage", I think they did some wonderfularrangements there, there are some pretty good lyrics as well. I guess we may never know what happened that they decided to pull out an album and after that it was over. I hope she still enjoy doing music, it will be great to have her for much more time as possible. PuraVida Posted December 4, 2020 at 01:37 AM Posted December 4, 2020 at 01:37 AM What a weird thing for Céline to post! What do you mean? Uncharacteristic? She was posting the Spotify 2020 wrap-up things that everyone else is posting. Except hers is an artist version. Ariana posted hers and it's like 1.8 billion streams. With 500 million, I actually think Celine is doing incredibly!!! Compared to Ariana, in Ariana's height of fame, that is amazing to be doing 1/3 or so of her streams. 2 Quote

Celine only really performed 2 songs from Loved Me Back To Life (not including the covers from Vegas) and she never toured it but I don't remember people suddenly not being able to enjoy that album. Taking Chances only had 4 songs performed on tour when I saw it (TC, A, SOL, and FA) but it didn't make me love the album any less. Courage is my favorite album of hers since A New Day Has Come. It in no way matters to me whether or not she releases the Lying Down video or sings more song on tour - none of that affects my enjoyment of the album. I simply love it and still listen to it several times a week. I'm so sorry to hear that so many people don't enjoy what Celine, or what her team is doing at the moment. Call me a "rose-colored glasses" person or whatever but I think the album is great and I think the tour is great and it's selling out. What exactly is going wrong? Streaming? I couldn't care less about how many Spotify or Youtube streams a song gets. All that is just silly to me. I own the album. I listen to it. I enjoy it. 3 Quote

Any artist would love to be in Céline’s position and have such a legendary career and any manager would love managing such a career and taking advantage of all the opportunities that it offers. Céline always says she doesn’t take it for granted but I’m not sure if that’s true, as it certainly isn’t for her team. 1 Quote The best is yet to come...

Xpresso Posted December 4, 2020 at 02:58 PM Posted December 4, 2020 at 02:58 PM (edited) Why is it so black and white for you? Why is it you can either be a fan or you can't? Why can't fans love her voice, love her music but be critical about decisions, incorrect singles, poor promotion or whatever? Are fans allowed to have any critical voice at all? Even if a fan disagrees with every single decision that management make they can still be a fan of her voice and music. See the difference?I think you missed part of my point. It's not about being a fan or not. What I don't get is people who write nasty comments (and I don't mean just negative comments) most of the time and still follow her all the time.I can understand someone not being happy about anything she does who might check up on her once in a while. But coming on a fan forum almost daily to be mean and insulting towards Celine is what I don't get. There is nothing wrong with having an opinion, but a constructive criticism goes a long way compared to just being mean. What about an opinion with class? Chantemoi Posted December 4, 2020 at 03:38 PM Posted December 4, 2020 at 03:38 PM Here’s something that’s been bugging me a teensy bit about their strategy... They could have easily released a shorter version of the album in 2019, and the rest of the tracks (as well as another 1-2 tracks) this year or next. The first album would be more focused on loss, with undertones of recovery. The second album would focus on recovery with undertones of continued loss. This would have given her TWO #1 albums instead of only one, and it would have technically spanned 2 different decades: 2010s and 2020s. So she’d have have a #1 album in four decades. Not saying it’s impossible at this point for her to pull it off, but seeing their execution of Courage, I’m not holding my breath. I’m really happy “Imperfections” performed so well, but once it took off, they should have scheduled a few more TV appearances. Not that hard, and it could have become a bigger hit and scored more streams/sales. 2 Quote

And I think the public would jump on those songs more, since they would come out at a time where she was promoting the tour and was very present. Thus, she could promote a brand new album and the upcoming tour at the same time. Also, everyone was craving new songs from her at that time. The irony is that while she was very present, she was holding back all new songs and didn’t give away any information regarding the new album, but once it was released, she was no where to to seen anymore. Wrong approach IMO. Quote

There is nothing wrong with having an opinion, but a constructive criticism goes a long way compared to just being mean. What about an opinion with class? Most of these negative comments are actually towards her “team”, “Sony Canada” and the “inner circle” but as she’s now the”boss” she is also responsible. She’s recorded the album, she shot music videos and one of them is yet to be released a year on. She does have a say in this despite being shacked up in a farm in Canada as “the boss”. She’s entitled to family time of course, but as the manager she also has to do her bit. Even a new music video or releasing a new single from the album would be hugely appreciated... she doesn’t have to be in the video and the song has already been recorded, decisions like this fall on her label, on her team and on her as “the boss”. Decisions like this take a few hours on Zoom and keep the fans happy and keep her profile high especially during this period. The pandemic is no excuse to not make a few simple decisions... it’s show”business”.She’s quick to go out walking in a field though to pose for photos and thinks that’s enough... it might be for some fans, but I never followed celine because of her fashion... the courage album has been abandoned. She claims to be in charge, she claims to believe in “balance” well I’m still waiting to see examples of these. I really hope this is a bump in the road and things are slowly starting to change behind the scenes but although I’m hopeful things will change, I’m not putting my money on this either. Some fans have given up on her which is fine, others I know have taken a break from her since March and others are still hoping that next year is a better year for her and old die hards like me. PuraVida Posted December 4, 2020 at 09:19 PM Posted December 4, 2020 at 09:19 PM (edited) Yup, some people see any attack on her team as an attack on her. Not so. As for negativity, I know I am highly critical of Celine or her team (mostly it's her team), when I feel it is warranted. But the same day that I write a post being critical, I'm also praising her performance at the Juno's back in the 90s or sharing a clip from One Heart album and giving a tidbit of info I found. If others choose to deny that people can be many things and praise/be critical at same time, then that's on them. Of course Courage was a great album, that's a separate point. I think it's very impressive and legendary that Celine is #18 among female artists (according to one tweet I saw), but I also feel disconnected from her. I also think she could do better, and what's wrong with wanting that? On a personal level, I really relate to her wanting to take time off and be in nature and her being awkward with Instagram....but as a fan, I know she is a worldwide artist who has her head on straight and millions of fans! And seeing as she has not slowed down or officially retired, her absence in the pandemic is very uncharacteristic and saddening. Some of the more critical fans would have expected it or felt this way for a while. But, unless she officially communicates she wants to step back from music or can't do XYZ because of whatever reason, fans are going to continue to expect something at least. And now even the traditionally less critical-by-nature fans are starting to be upset. Edited December 4, 2020 at 09:28 PM by PuraVida 3 Quote
