PuraVida Posted November 24, 2020 at 02:10 AM Posted November 24, 2020 at 02:10 AM There are better people for that than me .We happenned to have some good sources in the past, I'm usually very catious with all that but like it was something quite known. And, I guess in a short time people here could find some videos. But at that time evidences coming directly from her mouth and other indirect talk clearly show that they went trough something, without dramatising. I'm surprised you seem to discover it She spoke quite a few times about all that. So you insist, yet you can't remember exactly? I mean, c'mon. If you are so sure, you should have the sources to back it up. Otherwise, that's speculation. As for the A New Day...documentary....being mad at not having enough time off in between projects, is not the same thing as Rene having dragged Celine to Vegas against her will. 1 Quote
PuraVida Posted November 24, 2020 at 02:14 AM Posted November 24, 2020 at 02:14 AM It was a radio single in the US - I think it was released late September/early October. The song was also on Barbara's album and hers got released one week before Let's Talk About Love. (It's the only reason I bought that album of Barbara's which I actually ended up quite enjoying.) The song only had about a month until it was completely pushed aside for My Heart Will Go On. One month after the MHWGO's release, the movie was released and then... I recently got into Barbra, and it was through that album. The song "On Holy Ground" was what did it....honestly, it's almost like The Hard Way of Barbra's career. To deliver a vocal performance like that at the age of 55 or something was incredible. Her E5 belts were incredible...even if they weren't G5s like Celine did. So, it was released as a single but never charted on Billboard? It went to #5 on the AC Charts, which usually guarantees a Billboard placement somewhere. Quote
comingback Posted November 24, 2020 at 04:35 AM Posted November 24, 2020 at 04:35 AM (edited) and it s in the A new day DVD where she literally cries explaining how she didn’t want to do that ? We have quite a few direct words from her on that plus all the non explicit talk we had at that time. Plus reliable sources telling us at how they went through quite a hard time all due to a new day and Vegas. Then after that she managed to find a confort zone and that s another story. Yes, it was the A New Day interview (Quebec version). She said, that she didn't want to do the show after RC birth. But Rene told her that are too many people and too much money is involved. So she did the show. Edited November 24, 2020 at 04:36 AM by comingback Quote

ryba Posted November 25, 2020 at 12:26 PM Posted November 25, 2020 at 12:26 PM This album had so much potential. She generated so much momentum before the release, everybody was awaiting it, and when it was finally released, they treated it as if it was just another album. They had the benefit of the tour-bundle, it reached number one, and insted of capitalising on all of that and keeping the album on peak position and aggressively promoting the hell out of it, they did NOTHING! What a team, what competence, what ambition... It's really hard to believe what is going on there. 6 Quote

Kyle_Jared Posted November 25, 2020 at 01:09 PM Posted November 25, 2020 at 01:09 PM Celine is a legacy artist. It does not matter what else she did during this era. The Grammy's were never going to nominate her in the Pop categories again; those are now relegated to the youngest and hippest acts. That being said, the Grammys are losing credibility even in the eyes of the industry. The weekend had the biggest record of the year and was given ZERO NOMINATIONS! Do you think if he score zero nominations, Celine was going to get any?? She has Grammys for top General Field Categories (Record and Album of the Year) which is hard feat to accomplish. Perhaps someday she'll get in traditional pop when she goes that route. I don't even watch the Grammys anymore as they are not reflective of what I think should be nominated. There's stuff going on ..... 5 Quote

There's stuff going on ..... She was nominated for Traditional Pop Vocal back in '99 or '00 with Frank Sinatra. And, it appears the Weeknd was shut out for political reasons and business reasons. I doubt that would ever happen with Celine. Ageism or sexism, maybe, but not for other reasons. So, yes, I still would have been surprised if she had gotten some recognition if she had made a bigger splash when promoting Courage. But, like, I can't imagine her next record topping this. But yes, that's pessimistic. The best is yet to come! Quote

Yes, she had the chance with Courage, but her management sucks and she don't have the ambition anymore. But I hope she will surprise us in the future. 6 Quote

SlovakClark Posted November 26, 2020 at 11:26 AM Posted November 26, 2020 at 11:26 AM I don't think she will ever get nominated again other than a legacy award. Same to Madonna, Mariah etc. Ageism in the industry is real. Cher was lucky she released her Believe when the world was still kind to every age. Makes me wonder if there would be any difference if Celine tried harder. Because look at Madonna, or Kylie Minogue now, they try doing promos, videos etc and yet nobody cares what they've released. But at least they make their fans happy:) 6 Quote http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/320x240q90/853/qwz9.jpg

couldawouldashoulda Posted November 26, 2020 at 03:25 PM Posted November 26, 2020 at 03:25 PM When was the last time Barbra Streisand had a commercial hit? Maybe the 1980s with "A Woman In Love" I can't think of any Streisand song that became popular on the radio or has won a Grammy since her Broadway album in 1986 - 34 years ago. However, she does at least get a lot of nominations for "Traditional Pop Vocal Album" - a far cry from "Album of the Year." I know that, to be considered for an award, you have to be presented by your studio/label for consideration. The way we know Sony treats Celine, they may not even put her albums forth to the Grammy Nominating committee to consider. Or, if they do, it's under Album of the Year instead of Traditional Pop Vocal Album. You never know what's going on behind the scenes. Just for informational purposes, here is what's on the Grammys official website FAQ's The Recording Academy accepts entries online from Professional and Voting Members, as well as registered media companies. Winning, no, but Barbra has been nominated numerous times in the past 20 years. She has proven that it’s not impossible to be nominated for your work as an older female. Almost every album of hers gets nominated for best traditional pop album. And actually, she had commercial hits in the 90s. Tell Him is the obvious first thing that should come to mind, #5 on the AC charts, but also I Finally Found Someone was a top 10 billboard hit in 1996. Hence, why Celine was ever in a position to sing it in the first place. Also, Babs has done very well on the dance charts in the past 2 decades.
