I really love this too. Thanks for sharing! There's something different to Sam's voice which provides the song a different color and shading than Celine's solo version. Mixing the two together I think really works.

Again this is what I say, everyone praises her but nothing comes of it duet wise.

So my question is is it them or Celine who is unavailable?

It can be a mix of things, but if the artists are signed to different labels it can make things a bit more complicated.

And some big egos to deal with as well...

Celine is very secure about her career, she is not desperate chasing collaborations with "cool" new artists (she doesn't need it). I'm not saying it wouldn't be nice, but only with a song or artist that don't make her seem desperate. Did Madonna benefit from the collaboration with Maluma? Most comments were about how hard she was trying, but not in a good way.

Non of them ruined celines reputation cause all three songs re being listen to and reacted to until the day of today... so muhc for her duet with neyo or asny hippy artist

Okay, I just want everyone to notice, if you watch Sam Smith's current behavior and moves on social media and in-person interviews/performances.....THAT is how you promote an album in this day and age.

 

I wish Celine's team would watch and learn.

Well, Tori Kelly is a young artist and she has said she wants to collab with Celine.

 

Edit: I think it's interesting to brainstorm who else was out in music in the late 90s that would have even made a good duet with Celine. She's kind of hard to pair up with. I think the R. Kelly cross-over was actually brilliant and perfect. People who know music at that time would have a better idea, but I know who else Celine would've sung with.

 

As far as I know, Mariah only did one female duet, and Whitney did 3 (not counting shoop-shoop). I would have LOVED if Celine had done this with George Michael:

I think it is a bad example. As a Madonna's fan, her song with Maluma was... an average at best.

Well, it could be. All I know is, I've heard a ton about the album (i.e. seen and read promotion). But I myself haven't bought it, which gets towards the music itself.

 

I found his main single Diamonds to be kind of underwhelming, personally. Promotion doesn't guarantee sales, but that doesn't mean it should be shoved aside. And it doesn't cost much. He's doing it right i.e. social media strategy.

I think people generally had that impression of Céline already. Plus, I don’t see that as being a bad thing. It certainly didn’t damage her career in any way, quite the opposite I would say.

Even the flying on my own as a last song makes so much sense as in my opinion it feels more like a bonus track and it makes you wake up after an hour of listening

Theoretically this is usually a good strategy because the oomph or emotional heart of an album is supposed to go in the middle. So I thought, at least.
