In my opinion, I assume that plays into her deep inner need to be #1. Being #1 for a moment validates her. Craving that top slot gives her a relentless drive. But I'm sure there's a dark side to always chasing #1 as well. With that said, I'm happy for her fans to ride that wave of excitement with her. Celine is incredibly driven as well. But it's never been about numbers with her. She and Rene were especially driven in the 80s and 90s. The career they built together is astounding. But Celine always left the numbers and charts to Rene. Celine would show up and give 110 percent to everything she ever did. She was always driven to outdo herself / be the best of herself and to also impress Rene. That's what drove her. She wanted an international career and she achieved it. There's such a monumental foundation for Celine Dion's career, that she will always be considered one of the greats. Even though she doesn't chase #1s, she will always be tremendously respected in the industry. And she's still #1 all the time when it comes to her concerts! Which is absolutely amazing and the result of a lifetime of dedication to her career / craft. It also demonstrates that the world knows she is the best of the best, even if she never has another #1 on Billboard again. Celine's already been there and done it. She is not going to go about her career today the way that Mariah does. It's just not going to happen. Celine feels secure in herself, her accomplishments, and her status in the music industry. She might not jump through hoops anymore the way many of us want her to, but I just have to remind myself... that's okay, because Celine's already reached the mountaintop. If you need a quick dose of "everything's okay in the world", go and look at the comments on YouTube for her O Holy Night video. By and large, people understand that Celine Dion is untouchable. I don't think many ask her to jump through hoops. That's not how I would describe it at all. But I do appreciate that Celine can feel satisfied with a job well-done. She earned everything she had. But had to care a bit about numbers, at least more than she lets on. You don't get to an international career without getting Top 10s and #1s....certainly not on the level that she was envisioning. I just wish Celine took a lot more credit and was less humble about her accomplishments. Or at least did social media strategy a bit better...but this is a dead horse we've talked about so many times. There were some positive signs towards the end of the year! I think Mariah could definitely take it down a notch (at least) and Celine could definitely take it up one notch. But they are who they are. Quote

A whole part of it is, you have to work to preserve your legacy and get it out there. Even the highest highs of someone's career can be forgotten down the road. For better or worse, this does involve a bit of self-promotion and looking backwards at times. That said, in the grand scheme, she has an amazing career. 2 Quote

I am saying sometimes artists give hints or talk explicitly about projects that they are in talks with or or working on, and then later on se come to find out (sometimes because fans or interviewers ask) they didn't work out. If I am not mistaken, the dream of playing Maria Callas was one such thing Celine mentioned to us. For example. But nowadays, we don't get the same level of communication from Celine, so a lot of the fan rumors about her projects are just rumors! Then we never know what was true or false Because maybe she learned her lesson that she brings fans hopes up and than they trash her or crash when it does not come true.. So very wise from her part and some projects are more open to discuss than others.. It's still good practice to keep fans informed. Fans can take it. Why would fans trash her for something not coming to fruition? Often times, the circumstances are natural, normal, out of the artist's control. Quote

But the vast majority of Celine fans are not going to fault her for saying, to give a theoretical example, "I was working on a fashion line when COVID disrupted everything" or says one month "I am looking at doing some songwriting" and then a couple months later says "The movie didn't approve of the songs I was doing so we used other songs" .... Celine proved everything to everyone by the year 2000. Mariah lives her art and celebrate her art with every day that passes by, thinking what is the next thing she cando in her career and for her fans. Gifts with vision behind it, down to the very small details.
