Yeah -- I've thought about that too. Same goes for Barbra and Tell Him. But I do hope Celine collaborates with them both again. Enough time has passed, and there's no reason for them to try to surpass what they've already done. Just enjoy recording a new song.

I agree. But I think Barry, and maybe Barbra, are of the mindset that...if we can't top what we've done...then let that be the definitive version.

 

But covering an old song one of them has done before in a duet version, I think they'd be open to that. A brand new song? I don't think so. Just like how she did Overjoyed with Stevie Wonder.

I think it's time for Celine to do a duets album.

Maybe she could do this after Text For You is a HUGE success.

It would get a lot of attention and pretty much promote itself because each artist would bring their own fanbases along for the ride.

It could be all duets and perhaps one solo Celine song.

I wonder who would be on it? It would have to be a good mix of artists -- and preferably people who actually love / respect Celine.

 

Sam Smith, Lady Gaga, Shania Twain, Kelly Clarkson, Josh Groban, Michael Buble, Sia, Adele, Katy Perry, Babs etc.

Text for you a huge succes? Cinemas should have to reopen again and who knows how big her part is? Wthout cinema no film can be a huge succes i am afraid.

Yeah.. I've said it years ago: a double disc (old-fashioned now, but you'll get my point) Duets album, kinda like "All The Way": one disc with brand new duets and on the other a compilation of all the (big) duets she has done in the past. They can even theme it... the duets she has done was mainly with older peers, for the new duets, she can be the older peer.

I think there will be a waterfall of new albums and tours after the pandemic is over. But regarding Celine I'm not expecting anything because it's obvious she cares more about performing. She has yet more than half of the Courage tour ahead.

 

What I really would love now that she is over 50 is an album where she doesn't try to sound current or sing like rising stars do. I'm fed up with that raspy voice, she's been resorting to that for 15 years now. I don't want successful songwriters who give her songs that other singers rejected. I don't want her to say s*it in a chorus. She built a huge career without falling back on that. In a few words, I want David Foster, Walter Afanasieff and Jim Steinman back!

THIS!!! If I have one request for the next record, it's this! I also want an evergreen/classic album from Celine with pure vocals and great songwriting.

 

Courage is great for the emotional honesty coming from Celine, but I miss the orchestras and pure blended voice.

It's kind of funny in a way... While reviewing new Celine albums, many critics said that she wasn't evolving, that everything was similar to her previous albums, overproduced, etc. And now fans want that style back. Interesting - and I'm not saying I'm against the idea!

We've been listening to imitations of Adele, Janis Joplin, LP, Sia or whoever sang on the demo. She did that in the 90s too but it was less frequent. I want Celine to sing like Celine and go back to a more mature style which Courage has but she is singing as if she were a little girl which she obviously isn't.

Exactly. I want to hear Celine sing her style, with her voice and no imitations or "bedroom voice" or rasp or weird pronunciation.

 

As for the genre, I am actually not that fussy. I loved the direction she took on Courage. But I also love her 90s style too.

You are speculating about the reasons for her behavior just as much as everyone else. She never announced she was retiring, wasn't happy in her personal life (in fact, she said exactly the opposite in interviews), or that she didn't love music anymore or her new album. Again, she said the opposite.

This is the most innocent comment I have read in 10 years. Of couse, an artist has never lied pretending she or he is happy, that NEVER has happend in show bussiness.

And yes, I am guilty of speculating, because my brain is defintely on to think about every possible reason beyond of what I diserve.

You're idea of spoiled is completely laughable. Compare Celine to her veteran peers. Madonna/Annie Lennox/Mariah/Elton John. Are those artists spoiling their fans since the pandemic started?

In the end, the fact that Celine is on a long overdue break is totally fine with 99% of the fans, what is unacceptable is what is done to her career with the poor management and no real intentions to please the fans by releasing anything they have recorded since 2010.
