Chantemoi Posted September 29, 2020 at 07:44 PM Posted September 29, 2020 at 07:44 PM Well, since this topic isn't going away... I'll add what I know lol Anyone remember the show "Pop-up Video" on VH1? They ran an edited version of the Divas concerts, and there are few tidbits about the show that night that I don't think have been mentioned in this particular (off-topic) discussion. 1) Aretha was upset before the show started. Her people had made it extremely clear that for no reason whatsoever could the A/C be turned on while she was in the building. (I mean, it was April 14, 1998, so I'm not sure why the air would be on anyway, but it was one of her many "asks" or demands.) Allegedly, at the start of the rehearsals, Aretha stormed off the stage claiming that someone had turned the air on (probably Mariah ). She spent the rest of her day in her trailer, fuming over the incident. 2) Someone came up with the idea to send Mariah over to Aretha's trailer/dressing room to go have a "girl chat" and try to smooth things over. They probably spent the afternoon sh*it-talking everyone else). 3) All the while, the producers are freaking out because they're not sure Aretha is even going to do the show at all. So they decided, since they had Celine, Shania, Gloria and Carole sitting around waiting to rehearse the finale, they'd come up with a backup plan, and that's how they ended up with "You've Got a Friend". 4) Since there was not a full rehearsal of the "Natural Woman" finale, you might argue that Aretha had no ill intention by stealing the first verse from Carole --she made have just gone on auto-pilot--and the smarmy "Thanks" she says to Carole when she realizes that she's taken her lines might just be her way of saying "Oops!" without admitting she made a mistake. This account was published by VH1, so I'm assuming they had the insider info from their own staff and didn't need to fact check, but then again you never know if they embellished details to make it juicier. However, the pieces seem to fit together and it answers the question of how the "You've Got a Friend" pack seemed to all be chummy while Aretha and Mariah may have held some bitter feelings about the concert. 4 Quote

At the end of the day that is just another demonstration that being rich does not necessarily help in case of mental illness. Even worst it can be the trigger. With all due respect, you clearly don't have an understand of mental illness. And again, I ask that, rather than muddy this thread with an off-topic discussion, simply PM and I'll be happy to discuss the matter with you from the POV of someone struggling with 3 different mental illness. Thank you. Quote

PuraVida Posted September 29, 2020 at 09:29 PM Posted September 29, 2020 at 09:29 PM Right, Celine was the first Diva who was booked for the Divas show, she had a No 1 song and album at that time. Mariah also complained that Celine's picture (outside of the theater) was bigger than hers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLDKlUMcPi0 Where does she complain about the picture Quote

couldawouldashoulda Posted September 30, 2020 at 02:22 PM Posted September 30, 2020 at 02:22 PM Anyone listen to Courage lately? I still listen to the album every week - or at least a playlist that has a mix of Courage tracks and Greatest Hits Tracks. I still love the album and think it's her best album since Let's Talk About Love. Even though she doesn't sing songs from it on tour, it doesn't matter to me. I LOVE IT!! SlovakClark Posted September 30, 2020 at 05:51 PM Posted September 30, 2020 at 05:51 PM Anyone listen to Courage lately? Strangely I don't anymore, but my bf who wasn't Celine's fan before does. He normally listens to Ariana Grande and K Pop (he's 23) but find Courage album very fresh and pleasing to listen. Quote http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/320x240q90/853/qwz9.jpg

Shaun Posted October 1, 2020 at 05:08 PM Posted October 1, 2020 at 05:08 PM Just what is the point in these “behind the scenes” videos if they’re just going to play the studio track over it? 6 Quote Bringing you the world's only Celine Dion podcast show since 2014.Find us on Soundcloud, Apple Podcasts, Spotify & Amazon Music.
Frenchie Posted October 1, 2020 at 05:20 PM Posted October 1, 2020 at 05:20 PM (edited) Just what is the point in these "behind the scenes" videos if they're just going to play the studio track over it? It's so we know exactly what outfit Celine was wearing with each of the songs recorded for Courage. Also, to see how excited she is for all these new songs that she will not promote or sing. In addition, we can now figure out generally when each song was recorded by the pictures they teased us with over the 3/4 years before Courage was released. PS With the outfit Celine is wearing in "The Chase" video, I would have thought was an outfit she would wear while recording Flying On My Own or Nobody's Watching. browseceline Posted October 1, 2020 at 05:51 PM Posted October 1, 2020 at 05:51 PM Utterly useless!Celine is obviously more interested showing of the latest fashiontrends instead of really promoting the great songs of her latest album.
