The same Rene who had her performing Because you Loved Me when she was doing her Taking Chances promo? the same Rene who had two embarrassing lip sync filled TV specials? The same Rene who had her perform two songs (and a cover) off of her brand new album in AND? The same one who had her do like 2 bits of promo for Miracle? The same one who almost completely ignored D’elles except for a few tv appearances at the time and only one song off the album on tour? The same one who after 2002 forgot what promo was? Oh. Okay.

the same man who resided over the most successful Vegas stay ever. Yes he was a disaster πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Surely trolling shouldn't be allowed on this (or any) forum.

I'm really starting to wonder why I even bother with this place anymore...

Selective memory wow. I never said he was. But your clear one dimensional view with nothing but negativity for the woman youre here to support says otherwise about your intentions. Lest we not forget, its been Celine who in the past 3 years with tours has had better set lists and better grosses than she ever did with vegas, and also released a fabulous english AND french album (her best since the 90s) which she solely presided over... but okay

Don't bother responding to the troll. Hopefully the mods are paying attention...

I don't know if there would have been enough promotion on the planet to keep this album at number 1. If it dropped so crazy drastically like it has - that's not lack if promotion that's just lack of people interested in buying her album I think. Not saying that there couldnt have been a hell of a lot more promo for it - but it's not like it slipped a little from one week to the next - it is insane what happened. And every article I've read since mentions this now. I still love the album. its really a shame that the focus is on the charts Edited by superstar85ca

I personally find it sick and twisted that people who have some sort of problem always find a way to bring up Rene, its like they know its an β€œeasy jab” at her or her teams actions. Lest we not forget all the mess ups and flubs he was a part of/ head of. I do however, find it extremely disrespectful and rude, to try and demean the logic, intelligence or actions of someone who has been in the music industry for 40 years, and knows more about it than any of us ever could... tasteless to say the least

Β

Don't you know Celine needs someone holding her hand in everything cause apparently she has no brain of her own? She needed Rene to help her sing and apparently he never made any mistakes, Pepe is making her too passionate about dance and fashion (never mind that she's liked these since forever but with Rene at her side she had to kind of mute these sides of herself to focus on music), and now she needs someone else to make her find her passion for music again. So quickly do people forget everything Celine says, it's like no one here actually listens to her. She's repeatedly said how much she's loving what she does now more than ever, she's working towards continuing her music career because she loves it. She doesn't need to continue, those are her words. Just because she doesn't like promoting doesn't mean her love for her music career is non-existent. Do we all wish she was singing more new songs in the tour? Of course, but she has her reasons, whatever they may be. The world won't end over a bad setlist or low chart position, it's such an insignificant thing to be losing your minds over and to go as far as belittling her professionalism and interest.

Β

It's also funny how much influence they think Pepe has over her. Ofc she hangs out a lot with someone that shares her own passions, that's how we usually pick our friends. But interestingly enough everyone seems to ignore how much time Dee has been spending with Celine. Almost every picture posted on her social media has been taken by Dee. Obviously Pepe and her have a close bond, that hardly needs repeating, but it's clear to me that she has also formed other close friendships, but those aren't as juicy as the are they/aren't they dynamic Pepine had for a while.

It's also hard to maintain close friendships with people in her business because everyone is always so busy with their own things.

Β

I'll continue enjoying all 21 songs of the album and keep my figures crossed that she adds more new songs before she leaves the east coast cause I'll be really bummed if she does so when she's far away from where I can go to a show. But, I have it very present that chances of this happening are extremely low.

Β

Perhaps it wouldn’t have prevented a fall...but it could’ve kept her in the conversation. I don’t think anyone really knows about the album...

Β

As a side note, I really wonder what use Sony even has....it seems they just make money and have no real use or talent in this whole process for artists. These record companies seem so outdated and outmoded.

Totally agree with you. Everybody is talking about promotion but, personally, I don't think would make a big difference.

Β

But what we have to keep in mind is that is not only Celine. It's every artist from her time. Specially women.

Β

To blame her, her team or her friends (which is a complete absurd for me) while ignoring all the changes in the industry, it's just play ignorant.

Streisand and Madonna have had #1 albums this decade, and I’m pretty sure they didn’t use the album bundle trickery.

Β

It can be true that the industry has changed and ALSO that CΓ©line didn’t do enough promo....for a new album period. It doesn’t matter about charts, but if you have a new album then you are supposed to promote it.

Madonna used the ticket bundle with her last album. It's legal just like streaming is, so it's not a trick. People had to redeem the album... it's not like oh here it is no matter what... Edited by Xpresso

Β

The last album by Streisand debut in number 12. Madonna got number 1 and drop to 77, with less sells then Celine in both weeks.

Β

You have to keep in mind that the people who redeemed Courage in the tour bundle are the same who would've bought the album if there was no bundle. Without the bundle, Celine would've sell almost the same amount. My guess is that would've been something around 80-90k.

Β

Promotion wouldn't make no big difference in that scenario. As didn't make to Madonna, Streisand, Mariah and all the others.

Β

Now, the tour is the real deal. She should sing more songs from Courage. But it is what it is. And from the good reviews and the response from the public, I don't think the setlist will change anytime soon.

It almost feels like there’s no album even out. Where’s the buzz? This is the most anti-climatic album campaign she’s ever had. It’s such a beautiful piece of work, I just hope they know what they’re doing.

Β

On the plus side, I’m still having a romantic affair with the album. My current love is β€˜Best of All’. Is it anybody else finding it really hard to like β€˜The Chase’...I don’t know why. I can’t warm to that one.

Same here. Sounds like a One Heart album track. Nice, that's all.

Wohoooo! Courage currently at No. 3! Keep voting guys and keep telling others to vote too! Hahaha

Great to see her album ahead of those by the likes of Billboard's Artist of the Year Billie Elish or next week predicted Hot 100 No. 1 Post Malone.

All i know is I’m still very much in love with this album. It’s got something for everybody. I’m finding myself love The Chase and Perfect Goodbye lately. I’ve been so so so busy and stressed lately. Working 40+ hour weeks and dealing with being a full time student simultaneously, and with the semester coming to a climax, having this album on in the background is so soothing.

I didn't know love until they loved me back to life because somebody loves somebody!

fact not fiction my dear
OMG, same facts lead to different direction based on the view. I love this album so i don't see the tragedy you see. if you constantly argue with people here for their positive thoughts. I could feed you much more hate words back. and no matter how you guys describe rene ,please show respect first.

When I think about promoting the album I'm not talking about charts and selling albums. Maybe more promo wouldn't have made her sell more albums, but where is her interest in singing her new songs? That's what bothers me the most. She's shown no interest at all for the album. She enjoys a lot of things nowadays but when it comes to singing she's become a machine. There's no interest at all in presenting the new songs. And also, like some of you said, she needs a REAL manager NOW. Dave Platel may know a lot about tours, but she needs someone modern that know what to do in 2019 in music industry. I'm not talking about the genre of her music, but strategies, her management seem stucked in the 90s.

How do you vote? I went into the link but I can't see the actual list to vote :hmm:

Scroll down, you'll find a list with albums to choose from, Courage is the last one on the list.
