It can happen. If she does a duet concept album with young artists. Or if she is again part of soundtrack of a big phenomal movie like titanic. The highest she ever got in a stream in a week is Ashes which clocked 1.3 million stream

 

Even then, the extreme ageism, lack of streaming audience and probable still lack of streams would prevent that. For context, artists like Ariana Grande got 9.7 million streams IN A DAY. It’s unfortunate but with streams being the way they are, Celine simply cannot compete and hence, her, and every other legacy artists, fall from the top of the charts after opening week

Chat of World-wide itunes was updated, falled to #19, this last week position was quite "unstable"

but she managed to stay at Top10 and that's quite nice. Glad for her.

 

Let's see what will be the next position of the album, once she is back on touring

I'm sure everything will go up, she has to keep Imperfection on the setlist, so many fans and not fans

loving it and, of course, hoping she will give the chance for much new songs as possible

to be on the setlist, that actually raise the numbers, sometimes I wonder if she forget this lol.

After ANDHC, it much got worse. She even tried to be Britney Spears on OH, for God's sake.

 

Let's face it: Celine, in the english career, it's a product of marketing, not an artist. It's kinda sad but, WTH... it is what it is.

 

My godness, was having this same very thought during this day...

 

I'm not sure what is the song she sounds like Britney. Someone must to tell her to stop with it.

 

I have to admit that some of her French songs, got so deep into my soul,

and in English, that happened as well, but mainly with her 90's album.

Why? She sang from her heart, and had that unique "thouch and charm" only

she can add to a song.

 

On this album it comes and go, like there is not too much to hook you to hear the songs

it's very strange got to say, where I can only just enjoy small parts of certain songs (From the new album).

 

I'm waiting for a Jazz album, but scared to think what we will get for the next English album.

 

In no way, I want to hear something I've heard before, just looking for that special way of singing

she used to have.

 

There is no way, she used to have this very particular way of singing for decades and boom

we're hearing Sia/Cher/Adele taking over her, and God knows who more,

on songs she recorded in the studio.

 

On some new songs, she is the Celine that turned me into a fan of her

and on OH and LMBLF, those things were not that so obvious (at least for me),

but this time... things got worst with more than 4 songs on the album (Too much, sad),

and I think it's a real problem when artist start to lose his own identity (At least on some songs).

 

Some memebers find it too hard to understand this stuff, but as a fan I would like to enjoy her, her voice,

her unique way of singing, and not to skip on songs. I would like her to have another "build-in"

songs that will be a part of the setlist for years to come, can't see how this happening

with the new album.

 

If there was a force of motivation behind her music stuff, things could look much better,

I want to scream: Girl, I love your new stuff! you killed it! Etc... but that is yet to come.

Someone needs to find already that musical Pepe, to be around her, for this to happens.

Those critic’s reviews about lacking personality applied most of all to her 90’s releases, which always tried to be eclectic while still projecting an overall image of a universal pop diva. Artistically, this is by far her most cohesive English work. Both lyrically, thematically and otherwise. Whether or not the songs are as memorable is another issue. You want to talk about personality and artistry, but short of writing her own songs, she couldn’t have released a more personal work. And actually, her imitating other singers is something that she has always done, even from the beginning. It pains me to say it but a lot of the bombastic vocals we associate her with seem to have been directly arranged by producers like David Foster. When she isn’t given that direction (or it’s not spelled out for her) she often tends to do a by-the-numbers karaoke fest.

Funny when it was on in the car a friend said who is that I said celine. Her response no celine is way better. That’s the issue it’s flat.

The funny thing is, at first you do not understand the words in Tltil but when you read the lyrics suddenly the words sound not so weird anymore but they have a Celine-ish accent;) What i heard was like.. souley he does the roses... Hm so i lay a dozen roses. Does make sense now;)

But the jaw sound I mentioned: try to sing with your mouth almost closed - that is that sound. Maybe she wanted to do something artistic?

Btw apart from. Some unclear pronunciation this album is great is great imo and especially the bonustracks are really good!

And I say no, and no again, and not just because it will lack the quailty

her duets from the 90's had. Those duets she had back then never lose their charm.

They were meaningful, not trying too hard, and with an amazing production.

 

She had a very strong compition back in the 90's

and in the beginning of the 2000's, but guess what, she had those songs that made your jaw dropped

time and time again, that's why she was having this amazing succes she enjoys up to these days.

 

Bring on those songs that left one with a dropped jaw,

then it will take some things for the better, no doubt about that.

I was at by local music store today and I thought let's look at the Celine section. I was horrified to find out Courage was not there and no where to be found in the store. How is she able to see copies if they don't have it.

 

That said Costco more than made up for the music store not having any copies. I grabbed a few more to give as Christmas gift and while there I noticed a lady putting one on her cart. I secretly wanted to add the album to random carts. I mean that would count as promotion right? Haha

Honestly the UK charts are a mess anyway, so the fact she’s still at #13 this week, when there’s been hardly any promo here is still very good.

 

The charts mean very little these days and I honestly don’t think they are as significant anymore to an artists success as they were 20 years ago. What does need to happen is promo and touring - this is what makes the artists the largest sum of money. She’s touring currently but desperately needs to incorporate some more new material into the setlist Promo wise, this album deserved wayyy more promo that a few interviews and 2 live performances.

You’ve had your say and you’re entitled to but must you keep repeating yourself constantly and also you should at least prefix your negative reviews as ‘in my opinion’ since it’s really only you who feels this way about the album. Even those few not feeling it can at least say it’s her most coherent English album ever and can admit that maybe the album just isn’t to their tastes so I wish you’d do the same.

Hi there, what songs you expected to hear on this new album?

What was the last song of Celine you loved the most?

I've seen worst things written about this new album:)

 

After hearing the album many times, some songs on this album imo are beautiful, but lack some elements.

For me, songs lack that strong hook plus memorable and addictive tunes.

 

It seems that Celine just wanted to have fun with this album, to have it easy, and that's all fine

but in order for me to enjoy a song it must to move something inside of me.

The situation is that it allows me to enjoy maybe some parts in each and single song,

while there are some that I have to skip because what I've explained in some posts above.

And this point is important, how can one have so many "ways" of sounding in one single album,

it hurts the coherence of the album.

 

That reality to enjoy only some parts during whole songs, it's quite pity :I

Like you're waiting to get that special moment in the song and to really enjoy it but when it happens

it lasts for short time (Just like in Perfect Goodbye...) :I

 

As for sellings, except for Imperfections which is a great song imo

I think that they played it quite safe with the official singles, they could have Boundaries

or Change my mind which are topper gems, and make some interesting videos.

 

Her not singing the songs of the album from the first place, hurted the selling of this album from day one.

I still believe that a jaw-dropping album will promote itself, since people will talk about it more

more streamings and more buying it etc.

Actually in the UK the album is holding quite well. She dropped from #2 to #13 but there are 8 new albums ahead of her. So with nearly 9k albums sold this week, this would have been good enough to be #7 or #8 last week. You can't just look at chart position. November is filled with new albums!
