We all know her first week sales are due to ticket bundle. Now with 2nd week, she can't even sell 5k of physical copies. How is that a great strategy. She has lost lots of fanbase since loved me back to life.

Didn't you hear most of the music business is now about streaming and Celine is not doing well in that department? And physical copies are not all over the place like they used to be, and that would certainly help.

Actually 5k physical copies is not bad nowadays. The #2 album has sold about just that; the rest was all due to streaming in his case. So if Celine could do as well with streaming, she would remain in the top 20.

I actually think Courage barely has any fillers. Every song serves a purpose and has a different story to say.

Back to the album, I think Courage is her most cohesive work to date. Very modern with exemplary production. Also, her strongest English album in terms of lyrical content. Vocals and enunciation could improve. It is probably the one thing that albums like ANDHC for instance - which has been mentioned A LOT - definitely have above Courage. Celine should always be aiming for more polished vocals. It is her bread and butter. Which is why I place Boundaries among her most beautiful songs. That head voice...

Boundaries is great, reminded me of The Cranberries the way she sings...

The Chase, For The Lover That I Lost, Nobody Is Watching, Falling In Love Again are all very close to that list. What an album!

At this moment, Celine's album is back up to #17 on US iTunes and Imperfections is #29.

It's wonderful to see what a leap a big TV appearance can do for sales.

I hope her team takes note and Celine makes a few more TV appearances over the next few months.

Receipts please. When considering the dramatic downturn in sales in the past 6 years, this is blatantly wrong. Do you even know how much the bundle contributed to the overall figure? Because LMBTL only sold 77k in its first week in the US. IN 2013. And her public image among nonfans/the general public has also never been better.

 

All of these figures need to be understood within their specific context, with consideration of the specific project and market being referenced. Years after LMBTL for example (which barely made a dent in France), she sold 600k+ of EUS in France alone.

Her interpretation of Nature Boy is sublime.

 

I think her voice was in beautiful shape, and the production was lovely (understated, with just the piano) but a standard that has been covered by countless legendary vocalists needs to be INTERPRETED, and she basically sings it straight through without offering anything new or interesting in regard to phrasing, coloring, tempo, modulation, etc. Besides a couple “hmmmmmm” and “ahaaaaaaaaa” between verses

 

She’s kinda hit or miss in that department. A lot of times you basically get her imitating the demo singer note-for-note (including when the demo is by a beloved singer, like Sia). The most embarrassing episode was when she completely copied note-for-note Renee Olstead’s rendition of “Summertime” for the Jerry Lee telethon, and Renee was only a teenager at the time...yikes

That would be fantastic. And then the hype around that Westlife band will have died down.

 

She should also do another push for Christmas sales by performing on a big show like The Voice in the US.

This is quite good actually, there are a few big releases this week. This album would do wonders in UK if she could promote there.

Still I’m very disappointed that there is no making of the album footage at all. They always gave us something and this time there’s absolutely nothing...

It's a better strategy than the summer, when everybody's out and about on vacation, enjoying the outdoors, and not watching TV. There's good reason most TV and radio shows shut down for the summer. Audience isn't there.

Plus nobody's out buying stocking stuffers or White Elephant gifts, so if she can't move physical units at the retail heights of December, she certainly can't move them when nobody's paying attention nor shopping in August.

Her french albums always do rather well, the demand especially after 4 years of no releasing, first tour in 3 years and after the passing of Rene... it was huge

The album went on sale after the holidays in France so right on time when everybody was watching back TV. 😉

 

And for the last decade her French audience is steadier than her English one, selling the same amount of albums in French than in English.

Just gave the album a full listen through again and I just can't shake the issues with her pronunciation on some songs. There are times I genuinely don't know what is being said. It's frustrating as I like all of the songs. Flying On My Own, Courage, Lying Down and Imperfections don't seem to suffer from it. I don't know whether the production is better on those songs or what but on those 4 songs I don't notice the pronunciation issues at all whereas I do on most of, if not all of, the rest of the songs. Strange.

For the lover I lost she sings with her jaws glued together. That is how it sounds. I wonder if her producer not asked her to sing certain lines again. if I was the producer this would not have been the final take.

I agree. If it wasn't for the way she sings it, I would have probably liked the song. When I heard Sam Smith wrote a song for Celine, I imagined something like "Too Good At Goodbyes" for her, but it's not what we got at all. I just skip it now. I didn't in the beginning, but I don't think this song is gonna grow on me. It's my least favorite on the album still.

I totally love this song and I don't mind her weird way of singing it. It sounds like a Cher song and not in a bad way.

The only one that really gets me is in Perfect Goodbye. The "memorwwwyyy" Just, ugh. And then later in the verses she says "memory" perfect.
