I'm sorry, but obviously that's not the case. You're basically saying that they adjusted her sound according to the critics (who doesn't even like her) instead of appealing to her fans who likes her music for what it is. At this point in her career, that's very unlikely. She's not making music for the critics, she making it for the fans, and for the people who obviously like her music.

 

Finding new styles of music is great, and I agree with you in that sense, but her enunciation has gotten objectively worse, and that's the problem. Not the type of music she sings. Her new sound though, in my opinion, is laziness at best and deliberate at worst, but I don't think she does any of it to please the critics. That's crazy.

 

For the record, I don't hate the songs I mentioned, but I'm not loving them like I want to.

 

Sorry... what’s the reason then??!! I don’t know how these songs would sound if they weren’t sang the way she does... they were written that way...

My honeymoon period with this album seems to have ended. It’s a bit too mellow for me . I still quite like it. It’s just that I miss having more oomph from Céline.

The only one that really gets me is in Perfect Goodbye. The "memorwwwyyy" Just, ugh. And then later in the verses she says "memory" perfect.

 

Yeah that's the thing for me. I don't mind her trying different styles of singing. I didn't mind "That's Just The Woman In Me", I liked "Treat Her Like A Lady" and "Your Light" back in the day. The key thing is I was able to understand every word in those songs. She can sing whatever style she wants but for me personally there are some words and phrases on the album I genuinely have no idea what she's saying regardless of the style of song.

100 percent agreed. First time ever I find myself still trying to guess at some lyrics and cringing at others. Although they likes of Miss Janet have made a career of mumbling lyrics, Celine was always a perfectionist and had very clear diction. I remember the UK critics bashing her accent on IACBTMN. That song was practically perfect compared to some s*** on this record (pun definitely intended).

I think we seem to forget the fact that from 2013 to 2019 “pure sales” aka physical and digital album sales, have fallen by over 9.6 million year by year, with the total pure album sales worldwide of 2018 being barely 32 million!

 

So the fact shes still sold 26,000 pure copies is ridiculous. Streams are the only reason you see these 400,000 opening week sale, which only 4 current artists can claim to have. Even streams are a joke; that Tory Lanez guy got 94 MILLION streams in a week for his albums and that only equals 80,000 copies!

 

If we examine the fact that album sales since 2013 have fallen by over 150%, her 8,000 sales for this week are infact equal or greater than her 2013 sales in terms of where pure sales are at dated year.

 

The only way she’d generate huge numbers is STREAMS and considering 100 million streams = ~85,000 copies... thats NEVER gonna happen for her

I don't think that she sounds like someone else. She does sound like herself, but she adapts Sias style, which I think is a natural consequence cause she is a big fan of hers and she probably listened to the demo a lot.

 

My friend, when I let her hear "Baby" or "The lover that I lost" for the first time

asked me: Who is that singer?

LMAO, so even people that used to like her, didn't know this is Celine voice.

One might hear her on the radio and not knowing it's her, how did we come to this situation.

That just crazy, thanks for sharing this information. I honestly believe her label doesn't make all they can

in order to fit the rules of "this new game" with streaming, well it's not that new, but I can't understand

her label being that slient on this time when they should push and support the album.
