On "Baby", she is doing all the mumbling Sia does, it's like hearing Sia2, I came to accept

her obsession with her, that sadly never really ended. She also wears this wig that reminds me of Sia. :-D

 

My friend, that once used to like Celine a lot (From the "TT" area) didn't recognize at all

the voice of Celine on Imperfection, that told me a lot. So at this point I'm "afraid"

to let her hear songs like "Baby".

 

Hence, I'm not surprised some hardcore fans find this change too much for them,

that her voice sounds very different on some songs.

And yesterday read some comments "Why she tried too much to sound like something she never really was?".

 

This way of "different" singing, It's really a matter of taste, or that you like it or that it can make your ears bleed

but also, it's just normal that Celine did that, she has changed, and so her music.

 

I can't wait to see how they will combine the new songs with her "Hits".

Just Imagine TP and then will come "Baby" at one point of the show,

it's like to hear 2 different Celine on the same time.

 

Overall, this album ineed has authenticity and coherency

and thanks God there are songs for everyone. :wub:

 

It's actually not Baby I have a problem with. Baby is one of the better songs on the album, because the delivery was clearly intended to be that way. It's the messy vocals/pronunciation/lack of enunciation on the other songs, where it isn't a vocal style, that seems really sloppy to me and like they just took the first take and put it on the record.

 

She has a great diction on some songs but on others she kind of letting it go lol

Many artists of today just mumbling the words out.

 

This bothers me a lot with all artists who do it but especially when those artists also want people to take them seriously with the lyrics being deeper or whatever. It's hard to do that when words matter, and some can't seem to care less about whether what they're saying sounds natural or audible at all even to native speakers.

See above. Never have I felt that she sounds un-natural and forced in her singing for being a non-native English speaker, but on this album I do. It feels a bit "try hard" and takes away from the beauty of some of the melodies and what could have been much better songs if she made a proper attempt to sing clearly. It also detracts from the feeling of authenticity of the lyrics, because of how forced it sounds to me. In some cases it's almost like a bad cover of a song she that's not her first language, and I've never felt this way about any of her original songs before.

Can someone explain this lyric to me in "look at us now"

How can we hold it together

Can't put my finger on the "whether" or the "how"

. Not quite understanding what the lyrics are meaning?? Is she saying "how are we going to get through this or whether or not we will make it?" At first listen I thought she was saying "on the where the when the how", but now I see I'm wrong Thanks!!

Huh, I guess that does make sense, but I think your interpretation actually makes the most sense. We won’t know until we see the lyrics booklet! I just had insomnia last night, and decided to put my energy to good use. Thought even some of the “non-pirates” would like to get a gist of the album from the songs lyrics. There were quite a few spots I had a lot of trouble understanding her...

Well messing things up and not following logic seems to be a tradition.

 

I'm just glad we seem to get a coherent sounding album with an evolved Céline for once!

Change My Mind and Say Yes also refer to fire. And there are references to dust, sunsets, roses that I find consistent with the colors of the album cover.

I did an English translation and it looks like it is Soul (although the translation spelled it like the city in South Korea.....)

In 2019, I don't get why this is still happening. Artists should just make everything available everywhere at the same time.

 

Do bonus songs still help to sell more CDs? I don't think so.

Because Japan is the strongest physical market, for a variety of reasons (see here or here or here, and many other articles like these, if you're interested in why).

Special editions, with bonus tracks that you can't download elsewhere, drive physical sales, and with ~70% of the Japanese market still being physical (which is unheard of elsewhere; globally, streaming now represents ~60%), these editions drive substantial revenue.

"Back to back we sleep on separate sides..." - I love this line. I've had it stuck in my head for two days now. I love this deep singing.

 

I also love this line "Hard to look at pictures on the wall..." I love the way she sings "wall".

I think the the normal cd is for celine to try and make new fans and try to get her mainstream. The deluxe addition is a special gift to the older fans who appreciate over production of songs that takes celine voice to the higher levels and we love it when she holds those notes
