mikez Posted November 7, 2019 at 02:27 AM Posted November 7, 2019 at 02:27 AM Just read the beginning and first verse real quick coz I don't wanna spoil the expeeience of discovering the songs. But wow! A totally differnt depth this time. Sooo promising. Really wish the production isn't cheap, corny or cringy to ruin this. The Hard Way is just PERFECT. Zero complaints. There's not a single thing I would change about it. Best Céline song since the ANDHC era 3 Quote
fred Posted November 7, 2019 at 02:38 AM Posted November 7, 2019 at 02:38 AM Well if so that it's "just a bonus track" would be something to complain about. Out of the chances of getting to be a single and reach the masses. The Hard Way is just PERFECT. Zero complaints. There's not a single thing I would change about it. Best Céline song since the ANDHC era 2 Quote Peace and love to all.
fred Posted November 7, 2019 at 02:42 AM Posted November 7, 2019 at 02:42 AM (edited) About time!! I think all the songs on the EP had really good production compared to most of her post 2002 catalouge. So am glad that that seems to continue on the rest of the album. 👍 But they all lacked the oumpff and real hit chances, that power of hooking on, leaving even non fans defenceless and streaming the song secretly. Does any track have that quality? You won’t be disappointed!!! Not a single bad song on this album, and all of the songs are amazingly produced. I feel like yes “ The Chase”“ The Hard Way”“ Baby”“ Heart Of Glass”“ Look at us Now” “Nobody’s Watching” At least them probably more lol And two of my favorites are “For The Lover I lost” and “Falling in love again” I honestly feel like almost all the songs could be a hit. Doesn’t feel like a “filler” album. Edited November 7, 2019 at 03:11 AM by Nmj 2 Quote
Popular Post LukeD Posted November 7, 2019 at 03:15 AM Popular Post Posted November 7, 2019 at 03:15 AM (edited) I am experiencing something with Courage that I never experienced before... I got into the music of Celine back in 2005 - I used to love songs from LTAL and ANDHC - but it was then, in 2005, that I became a fan. I immersed myself into her music: I would consume her songs non-stop, I would look for more, I would buy her albums, I would search info about them on Wikipedia, and once I knew her English catalog by heart, I moved on to explore her French music. And she became an even greater artist in my eyes! In terms of me being a fan, Taking Chances was the first major release of Celine. I remember hating the album cover - still do - and several songs felt different to her previous recordings. I did not quite enjoy this record - only certain songs in it. I also remember checking the charts back in 2007 and 2008 and I was feeling somewhat sad that she was under-performing. Or at least this is how I felt. Disappointed. Pretty much the same happened with LMBTL. I disliked the album cover - still do - and only liked few songs that I listened for few months after the release. I barely listen to them now. Much like TC, I felt LMBTL was a mixed bag, crafted to appeal to a wide audience, but losing its artistic direction and coherence because of that. I have to say though that things were very different for me when it came to her French releases. Sans Attendre was an album I loved and years later she released Encore Un Soir which I loved even more. In the meantime, I discovered D'elles that despite certain flaws in terms of interpretation and production, still has a place in my heart. Irrespective of her solid French records, I was still feeling that her English albums were lacking though. So I had higher expectations from Celine. I wanted her to deliver an English album that I would very much be proud of. So now with Courage, I am experiencing for the first time this happiness of being a Celine fan and consuming brand new material from her that I absolutely LOVE! I am embracing songs that were brought to life now! In the present moment! It is as if I am witnessing something big for her career. Dionaissance? For sure! She finally did it for me, guys! She delivered a modern album filled with meaningful songs! She stepped out of her comfort zone, which by definition means progress. This is not album made to appeal to an audience as broad as possible, it is an album crafted so that Celine re-invents herself and delivers the messages she wanted to deliver. IMO, Courage is a career milestone. On a side note, my Top 5 songs at the moment are: Perfect Goodbye, Nobody's Watching, Change My Mind, Say Yes, Falling In Love Again. I am a happy fan! marc-02 Posted November 7, 2019 at 03:23 AM Posted November 7, 2019 at 03:23 AM I really hope they will submit the deluxe version for grammy consideration and not the standard edition. I'm sure this has a shot for best pop album and even album of the year! Especially once they hear The Hard Way, Boundaries, and Heart of Glass. 4 Quote

mikez Posted November 7, 2019 at 03:31 AM Posted November 7, 2019 at 03:31 AM I was thinking... The Hard Way must be the most difficult chorus Céline has ever recorded in her entire career. 3 Quote
LukeD Posted November 7, 2019 at 03:36 AM Posted November 7, 2019 at 03:36 AM Lovers Never Die is a good song. Edgy and sensual. Very fiery! And works well as a transition between the up-tempo FOMO and the piano ballad that is Falling In Love Again. There is room for improvement though. IMO the song lacks a climax and ends abruptly. It basically needs another whole minute! 2 Quote
Dertz1 Posted November 7, 2019 at 03:44 AM Posted November 7, 2019 at 03:44 AM (edited) I think that after listening to the album about 5 times, this is my list of the songs that I liked the most and the least.1 - Falling In Love Again/Boundaries (Sorry I can't choose between those two )2 - The Chase (Beautiful melody, perfect for a movie )3 - Lying Down4 - Perfect Goodbye5 - The Hard Way (Incredible high notes! I hope it will be performed live, at least a lower tone.)6 - Heart Of Glass7 - Change My Mind8 - Say Yes9 - Lovers Never Die10 - How Did You Get Here11 - I Will Be Stronger12 - Courage13 - Flying On My Own14 - Nobody's Watching15 - For The Lover That I Lost16 - Imperfections (Nice song, but there were many better ones that could be the first single.)17 - Baby (I like how it starts, but the chorus seems very repetitive and I don't like it.)18 - Look At Us Now (Incredible low notes at the beginning, but after that it fails to get my attention.)19 - Best Of All (It seems boring, capable I have to listen to it a couple more times) Edited November 7, 2019 at 03:50 AM by Dertz1 2 Quote

It has a hook and I can see why someone would like it, but I find it so over-produced and bombastic. It is smartly placed after I Will Be Stronger that is among the most soulful songs of the album, but I still cannot understand how it made it to the Standard edition and the masterpiece that is Boundaries did not. Needless to say that if every song on the album sounded like HDYGH we would not be talking about a modern album. Vintage at best...! Edited November 7, 2019 at 03:58 AM by LukeD Quote

celinefan1985 Posted November 7, 2019 at 04:47 AM Posted November 7, 2019 at 04:47 AM I love that Celine finally took control of an English album. Despite some very noticeable (and distracting) diction issues, this is a very solid and cohesive work. Although I listened to the 16 tracks, I’m saving the bonus tracks for the 15. My comments/criticisms: 1. Fomo has no place on this album, especially not as an opening track 2. How did you get here is also so retro that I don’t get it on this album. 3. Lovers never die = yawn 4. I’m still haunted by the “play me love like a love song” clip. Would have loved it instead of 1.2 or 3 above 5. I know hope she has the Courage to change her Greatest Hits/Las Vegas Road Show and incorporate as many of the new songs as possible... 4 Quote

Céline says ‘the U.K.’ not Britain and it’s all too punctual and not like her at all. Kind of irked me lol 1 Quote
