"Courage" album - Official Topic

Is it me or Celine sounds totally different on this album? She has a "new" voice in songs like "For The Lover That I Lost", more deep than before. I have the feeling that she has stopped trying to sound like Sia or Adele to show her real voice at last, and I couldn't be happier.

 

Here herer. I think David Foster was the only one who had the balls to tell Celine to start over and practice her diction.

I won't listen to the album 'til november 15th but it's really nice to read all the rewies about the songs. I'm so excited I will buy the deluxe edition in the store, I love this feeling. Is FTLIL a real s***? I didn't listen any song

 

I wouldn’t say it s s*** obviously. It s a nice song, relax, soulful, with an acoustic/piano vibe. Still with a modern production à la Imperfection I would say. What s make it cleaving is her voice yes. It s very deep with some clogged sound you know. I’m gonna repeat myself but somehow it’s sounds here more liberated 😏 not va to say free. I kind of like the feeling like on Perfect goodbye. And in some parts I hate it especially in FTLIL. She definitely should stop working with big names. 😌 Well maybe your impression will be totally different 😁

I am an old school guy. My favorite album is "Falling into You", and my perfect Céline is that trascendental girl singing "Call the Man" or TLYM.

But I am open enough to understand that the bussiness has changed a lot, and real artists must decide to evolve with it. And to me, this is a very clever move.

 

My personal album review.

 

 

 

Different is the keyword. Modern, according to current music trends (but without reggaeton thank God). Very well produced, I like it more than ANDHC and TC. The engineering and mixing are far above than LMBTL. And, IMHO, there are no fillers in the album. It looks like they cared very much each song.

 

 

 

The technique is also different... You will not hear all by myself #2 this time. Voice could sometimes be weird, but never awful. Pronunciation is also weird sometimes but not that bad. My point about this is that it is all intentional, it is impossible that it is only an un-handled mistake with so many awesome producers involved.

 

 

 

 

 

I love that the songs sound so different from her previous effort, and from most of the music around. Short songs, no big arrangements, neither vocal exercises. This is how music is nowadays. I think that the album has songs for everybody and every taste. A little dark though.

 

 

 

To sum up, one of her best albums. And one of the best albums of this year. I think FOMO does not fit into the album, PMLALS would not fit there too. I cannot understand how "Heart of glass " is out of the main edition.

 

 

 

Amazed by: Heart of Glass, Lovers never die, The Chase, Baby, Lying down, Imperfections. If you take the final words from heart of glass it would be the best song of the album.

 

Nice efforts: "How did you get here", FOMO, Nobody's watching, For the lover that I lost, Perfect goodbye, The hard way.

 

 

 

Not loving at all: "I will be stronger", "Best of all" (ironic?), Boundaries (I might like this one later)...

I think that "Best of All"

has a "One Heart" feel, it's a bit like a mixture of "In His Touch" and "Faith". Anyone else feels the same way?

Celine won't worry about the money for the album. But you have to think that some of the songwriters do need that money. And I hope the leak won't lead to Sony cutting the promo budget on this album.

They will be fine! I am sure! The material is there so the album is going to sell well - it is what Celine has been missing since ANDHC. Strong, modern, original material.

Her vocals on this whole album are painful to listen to, even vs. Encore Un Soir from a couple years ago.

Never felt better being a masochist.

I don't understand that whole ordeal about the leak impacting sales.

 

I really don't think it would have such an impact. I mean, if the album hadn't leaked two weeks before the release, it still would be available illegally everywhere on the internet on the 15th, just a few hours after being officially available. Everyone knows that, and the people interested in downloading music illegaly sure do!

 

So people who want to download illegally would do it now instead of the 15/16/17 of november. Big deal!

People who want to listen to it before deciding to buy it or not can listen to it now instead of waiting for that week end - and still decide they don't like it and don't buy it. Making that decision now rather than later doesn't change a thing in terms of sales.

I've listened just to songs 1-7

The rest is for the 15th!!

 

- Lovers Never Die, first I was like wth is this? How can this be the second song. Strange voice, hard to hear what she was singing. Please let the rest be better.

After few more listens I can appreciate it more.

 

- Falling In Love Again, OMG her voice glad to hear it after LND

Love it still do after few listens, like how the song builds up.

I can't believe I'm falling in love... Oowwh I'm falling in love once again...

That part is just

 

- Change My Mind, ooef that mellow beat, her voice I think the song could have done without those screams at the end. They ruined it for me the first time. Now I'm used to them, but definitely wasn't needed in the song.

I say LP can write a whole album for her

 

Can't wait for the rest

 

Though from these songs I wonder how that will mix with TPOL/BATB/MHWGO

So here's hoping she drops many songs and add a lot of Courage into the setlist

Overall the album is well produced. Many quality various genre songs were included to suit everyone's preference. It is her best album since andhc and definitely one of her best albums. Although in some songs, her vocal sounds a little bit strained eg Falling in love again, the tone of her in this album is beautiful, just needs to fix a bit on pronunciation will be perfect.

 

I'll give a 11/10 for this album 😁

Now, there's the problem of streaming. Ok, the streams will be lower. But will people listen to Courage 50 times before deciding if they like it or not? Really?

The fans won't stream it 'cause they'll already be bored of listening to it for two weeks? Like Celine's fanbase's presence online is the same as Ariana Grande or another teen look-a-like to make a real difference. What's an album-equivalent sale for Billboard? 1250 streams?

Celine is not a streaming artist, she never was. Have you look at the streaming datas of LD/Imperfection/Courage since their release?

Very impressive indeed.... They really made a splash in the Hot 100. Er, on the bubbling under, then? No? I'm guessing it's certainly because they leak before their release date without us knowing.

Right....

 

Besides, if we wanna talk about Justice and Fairness, let's talk about that album-ticket bundle major artists are doing nowadays. That will help tremendously Celine for the first week sales, but that's just plain cheating! It's a lie to the public - well, record companies always lied about sales, but we're in a total other dimension with this kind of lies.

For instance, Shania Twain's Now debuted at #1 on Billboard thanks to that scam. And was #29 the next week.

Did all this free publicity of being number one again after 15years did help her sell more copies in the long run? Hum, it didn't. Did it help her singles? I'm sorry, it'd be so rude to laugh.

I thought about the Sia sounding that it was more obvious on LMBTL than on those 2 songs. Globally I would even say that what's make this album special is that feelling that we hear her real/true voice.

And honestly I think she is over this I'm gonna sound cool thing.

 

On "Baby", she is doing all the mumbling Sia does, it's like hearing Sia2, I came to accept

her obsession with her, that sadly never really ended. She also wears this wig that reminds me of Sia.

 

My friend, that once used to like Celine a lot (From the "TT" area) didn't recognize at all

the voice of Celine on Imperfection, that told me a lot. So at this point I'm "afraid"

to let her hear songs like "Baby".

 

Hence, I'm not surprised some hardcore fans find this change too much for them,

that her voice sounds very different on some songs.

And yesterday read some comments "Why she tried too much to sound like something she never really was?".

 

This way of "different" singing, It's really a matter of taste, or that you like it or that it can make your ears bleed

but also, it's just normal that Celine did that, she has changed, and so her music.

 

I can't wait to see how they will combine the new songs with her "Hits".

Just Imagine TP and then will come "Baby" at one point of the show,

it's like to hear 2 different Celine on the same time.

 

Overall, this album ineed has authenticity and coherency

and thanks God there are songs for everyone.

Can't put my finger on the "whether" or the "how"

. Not quite understanding what the lyrics are meaning?? Is she saying “how are we going to get through this or whether or not we will make it?” At first listen I thought she was saying “on the where the when the how”, but now I see I’m wrong Thanks!!
