Am I the only one here who thinks that LMBTL was a great song? To bad there was no real video for it and no promotion. I dont even remember the other songs from last album apart from this one... LMBTL is in my book much better then Ashes. The success of Ashes is 95% on the movie team promotion and a real video for once in many years...

In the video, people on my Facebook who don’t even like Celine shared the video just to laugh at it. The song is okay, don’t get me wrong but let’s all hope that her new English album is miles better than “Ashes”, because I’ll be the first to admit it’s at most just an average song. Though I must admit her vocals are good.

 

Wrong. The marketing strategy was actually to have a singer like Celine Dion that nobody could remotely relate to Deadpool singing the theme song and it worked. The whole package made it viral, not only Deadpool.

We could say the same about MHWGO, it became popular because of Titanic but it doesn't take away the fact that it was a success on its own as well. Just the same, Ashes has been a success because of Deadpool but people are still listening to it after the fact because they've also liked the song on its own.

 

The song being just "okay" is your opinion, and you're free to have that opinion. I personally think the song is great and love listening and singing along to it.

It's this song that got me interested in Celine for real for the first time in all the years I've known her music existed.

Titanic was a huge hit, it certainly helped MHWGO become a classic; but I remember back when it was released and the movie came out it instantly went to number one across the world. It played on the radio on each station anywhere from 3-5 times AN HOUR!

 

Please let’s not say it’s the same as “Ashes”.. “Ashes” had a video that went viral (not because of Celine but because people thought it was hilarious to see Deadpool dance in heels along side Celine!) it had a VERY brief success.

 

 

Bottom line;

“My Heart Will Go On” is a beautiful ballad that will forever be a classic.

“Ashes” is a good ballad that will be forgotten this time next year.

The low level of success for the Celine-Sia single was not because of what the song was. There was literally no drive from her record company to put the song out there for people to hear. No real radio deal. No push for airplay. No online ads via YouTube or even banners. It was a very bad move on Sony’s part. I. Sure with the right push, it would have done well on the AC charts at the very least.

How's what? I'm not sure what you are refering to.

 

I wasn't saying MHWGO and Ashes are at the same level of success but that they come from similar situations. And in both celine is very much a reason for the success (on whatever level) for the song.

James Horner went to Celine because he wanted her to sing the song, had it been sung by someone else I doubt it would have had the same success. Ryan asked Celine to sing the song because he considers her the ultimate singer and if he had chosen one of today's popular singers then the song and video would not have had the same reception. The appeal to the video IS the fact it's Celine Dion singing a song for Deadpool, it's not just Deadpool dancing to any singer so you can't say people don't associate the song with her, or diminish her part in whatever success the song has had.

Once you're over the initial comedic aspect of the video you are still left with a song that is great IMO, and clearly others are loving it as well. If we compare it to her other recent movie soundtrack songs it is far less forgettable (not that I agree with this assumption) than How Does a Moment Last Forever.

The comparison is that both songs come from very popular movies which contributed largely to the success of each song, and that for both Celine was sought after because of her status as a singer and what she could bring to the song that another artist could not.

It happend in a japanese restaurant, Ashes were played while me and mu friend waiting in the line, and a group of guys talk about that song is Celine song and talk about Deadpool, So yeah, Even though the success is not the same level with MHWGO but I think you are right.
