Céline to perform at the Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival

Jamaica isn't exactly an unknown place, she was gone for like one day from 'home'. The kids we all know odds are went with her. She was only gone a few hours or more, it's not like she left for a week. Heat and humidity? It's only 81 in Jamaica right now, that's not anywhere near Vegas temps in summer. It's not like she's the only person in the world who could get on a private jet, go sing for a couple hours and go home, where I might add she has help with the kids. And I fail to see how lip syncing isn't exactly 'hard work' and neither is barely 60 or 70 shows a year when she has like 90 percent of the year off. Also I want to add again, she doesn't read the forum, she probably doesn't even remember it exists. And no one from her 'team' bothers to read it either. She doesn't care what they say and it's obvious they don't either because if they actually listened to what we say then things might change but they haven't and aren't going to.

Celine could read everything, and try to make everyone happy. The problem is that there would still be many people who would be critical, because there are always pessimistic people in this world. They always focus on what they don't have, and forget to be grateful for what they do have. Celine is better off to stay away from the negative comments. No matter what she does, or tries to do, someone will always have something negative to say. If I were her, and I read all the comments, I would definitely stop trying. I would lose my desire totally, because I would figure that there wasn't any point in doing it since all it would get me is heartache. :down:

I certainly didn't expect her to perform as many songs as she did, so for what we got (I think a very good amount was live). There is the little THLAL debacle...but I could care less that the lipping went haywire, she scooped up the pieces and had fun with Diana and had her mic on and was sounding EXCELLENT.

Do we all agree that when she did sound live, she sounded amazing? The ending IA, the high notes in THLAL, All By Myself ( was the high note live? it seemed so to me, or at least it seemed like she was expending a ton of effort on the big note)...Mr. Paganini, etc.

@Jarito You said there was an interview where Rene said Celine couldn't sing in Olympics because she couldn't top her 1996 self? Link?

Do not forget that we all should have a completely live soundcheck coming soon!

P.S. I highly blame Rene for anything that she does lip. He seems very hypersensitive about her voice and has probably lost his managerial touch by now. I postulate he urges her to do new recordings to lip to...thinking he is clever and the fans might not notice/care. I remember he was worried that Celine might not have her voice at the start of the new Vegas show up until her first rehearsal (after all those years of hearing her angel voice). He should know she will NEVER lose her gift.

So, overall a great concert for Celine. I care ZERO how she looks or what she says, personally. I just love hearing her voice. I got to hear it. It sounded amazing. I cannot wait for the albums.

as for the lipping i dont know what to think. I believe that she did not lip and im glad. if she did maybe because rene said so i agree but i dont think that he would do that to her

From the videos I have seen she looked like she was having fun, granted each performance is important, but seeing as this wasn't that special of a performance I see no problem with her lipping. Personally I do not like THLAL and mainly because of the Diana King barking through out the song. Is there a full set list on the topic and if so what page I couldn't find it?

Also love how she kept "I'm Alive" as the tour version, I think when she comes back to Vegas she is going to change it up. The twins are getting to the stage of walking and crawling, we all remember how "energetic" she became in A New Day during the first two years. And the costumes for this show were great! Annie really out did her self even if a couple are variations of what she has in the Vegas show. I can't believe she wore that one mini dress. Well if I had her legs I would show them off to, but that is a different story. :sofunny:

You know, I think the reason why it is frustrating, is because we all know she's more than capable of singing these songs she's lipping. If she put her mind to it, THLAL could have been 100% live, and would have been perfect. I guess its just a matter of timing. This woman moves a billion miles per minute...but at the same time, it's not really an excuse. I know she's a singer and she should sing...but aside from that, she has an amazing stage presence. She really knows how to own it. And when you're there...seeing it live...I think that's what you notice..not the mistakes or lipping. At least that goes for me.

However, I'd really wish she would have one show where she plops her butt in a chair with none of that high tech live show business kind of stuff and just sing. That's why we're all fans...at least one reason we are anyway... her voice. I don't need dancers, fancy effects, perfectly lipped songs. Her voice is enough and I really think she'd have a lot less lipping if she weren't running from one side of the stage to the other all night long. Although its entertaining, yes, her voice is good enough on it's own.

Seeing your signature makes me really miss the TCWT era! I loved that show and it was so exciting and I feel like this concert had that excitement for a good part of it - the excitement of a different city.

I think it's so funny that so many of you have said so many negative things about not liking "Treat Her Like A Lady" calling it trashy pop, and saying how much of a bad song it was and that it wasn't something that belonged in her catalog. Then she's performing it at this festival and everyone wanted to hear it and now are pissed about the whole thing. It all came full circle lol.

As for the whole lip synching thing. It's not going to stop guys. I think after how many years now it just needs to be accepted. It's not like she NEVER uses her voice anymore. As for specific TV performances, I actually met one of the guys from IL DIVO face to face and asked him about the performances of "I BELIEVE IN YOU" and why they had never performed it live. A lot of television studios are just not equipped for that type of performance. This doesn't make her any less of an artist. Look back over the years at how many phenomenal live performances we were given. I'll never forget being 10 years old, seeing her perform "ALL BY MYSELF" on the Grammy's and turning to my parents and saying as I pointed to the television "Mom and Dad...THAT is what I want to do for the rest of my life." And to say she's not a legend because of the lip synching..let's get real here. The woman has been performing since she was 12, she revolutionized the power ballad trend in the 90's, she revolutionized a new way of performance residency in Vegas, has sold out arenas on every tour she's been on world wide, she was even PULLED OFF of the Michael Bolton tour to tour on her own I believe I read somewhere a long time ago. Celine even PUT HER HONEYMOON ON HOLD to FLY TO ANOTHER COUNTRY to promote a single JUST because it was gaining momentum on the radio and probably didn't even need the promotion. She recorded her biggest hit song, not to mention one of the biggest songs in music history IN ONE TAKE...WITHOUT warming her voice up. That's a milestone in itself. All the woman had to do to for everyone to know her name was record a Disney song. There have been many huge Disney songs, but none that had the impact that "Beauty and the Beast" had. She toured AND recorded albums for over 20 years straight...if that doesn't call for legendary status, I don't know what does. Let's show some respect here even though we may not agree with some of her professional choices. It's okay to disagree and have an opinion, but to bad mouth her about things you only know on the surface is unacceptable. Until you're in the shoes of a DAY TO DAY performer, and until you experience what a performer experiences, you have no idea what you're talking about. Having an opinion, and having full blown knowledge are two completely different things.

OHHHH, this interview is absolutly fantastic, love like she said she can´t postoped it again and again, and great she was talking about recording albums, it´s so nice to hear from Céline that there are also another things in her career not only Vegas.

Watching some of the clips of Celine at the jamaica Jazz and blues Festival, WOW! I've just seen the Treat her Like a Lady... I can imagine you have say it all.. but I don't know, I don't have words to explain... The song has new arragements, Diana King sings Live.. and then... :blink: so ridiculous.. what's wrong??????????????? who decides this STUPID things... How I'm going to try to defend the artist she is when in a music festival... the temple of LIVE PERFORMANCES... she does this and in a very silly way with a song so easy to sing for a voice like Celine... just so dissapointed. And I am not blaming Celine, because you can she how f***ing dissapointed is she while is singing, making some signs that something goes wrong... I think there was a big discussion after the show... When is somebody in her team to notice that the people doesn't mind if she sings wrong sometimes,.. if she doesn't do the high notes as in the recording studio it's the same, nobody is going to complain, she doesn't have to demostrate anything anymore, I want to hear her real voice even if it is in lower notes... You could see a few years ago a live performing of Etta james when she was old, Of course At last didn't sound like when it was recorded, but sounded so great, so truly....

So dissapointed....

Thanks for posting ''The Prayer'' and ''Beauty and the Beast''. Like I said last night, she sounded great on the songs that were actually live. Always look forward to hearing ''Beauty and the Beast''. Now if we can only hear PQTME too.

SHE DIDN'T LIP THLAL!

There were backing tracks of Celine from the original CD recording that she was supposed to sing "with," but she just forgot the order of the adlibs. This is not the same as lipping - it's actually the only way you can do the last part of that song live. The vast majority of the song was a fresh, live rendition....this is one of those rare cases where the argument "Celine doesn't lip, she's just such a perfectionist that she always sounds like the CD version" actually applies. I was impressed that she was able to mimic her 97 voice so perfectly this week. Can we put this lipping nonsense to rest?

and it's not like she can't hit the high notes at the end, she just can't be singing multiple tracks at the same time. it's physically impossible! she just didn't do her homework this time, like the time she forgot the words to ANDHC in korea. not a big deal guys!

i just LOVE how the audience reacts to all her songs..

you can say what you want about her singing still her old songs, but it's a fact that the audience wants it!!

The fact that we are fed up with it we do it ourself, just by watching EVERY single performance she does.

btw Kylie is releasing a her old hits in acoustic version, because she is 25 years in showbizz, now THATS what i want from Celine!

Btw apart from the sound which is great, I loooved the stage! the stage looks so much better then the Taking chances worldtour sidestage!
